Nice work mate. I really enjoyed this. You got me thinking that i need a discombobulator now :) I've been using a crybaby & small clone together which means i'm glued to my board for the whole tune. Thanks for posting.
@zheeno86 the Korg A3 was a multi effects unit (in a 1U rack size) from the late 80's early 90's. In addition to storing many presets (with various effect chains) it had the option of adding more sounds with a sound card. One of which had the preset Edge used for Mysterious Ways and nothing ever matched that preset since - though there are some decent attempts out there.
Is Edge's main Rick a 12 string or six string? I always thought it was a six string with a harmonizer, but recently I thought it could be a 12 and I just never caught it. I think the hollow body of the Rick informs the record and live tone alot.
I used to play all of the Sydney show on my '68 strat-I played a three octave spread for the riffs from "Even Better Than The Real Thing" and it sounded cool...saved me a ton of money for a Rick 12! I reckon his 12 is the same on "EBTTRT"?
I have a Korg A3 and it is a pain in the ass unit. Big, bulky, sounds trebly, and is only useful for about 3-4 things. Anyone who thinks they absolutely need it to nail the MW sound is delusional. Pedals are the way to go!!!!
Thanks. Even if it doesn't have the correct sound card (SPC.01) you can always find somewhere to download it. Also, watch out for bad/old jack connections in these noisy Korg A3 units.
Nice Work. I saw an A3 on ebay in the last couple days. It had no card in it, and was going for £122. Seemed cheap. How do I KNOW that the unit would have the right program? (It said something about 'guitar card' settings)
Stellar attempt at that. One of the best I've heard not using the A3. It's amazing that with all these new units no one is able to simulate the A3 auto wah deal. Such a big unit to carry around just for a coupe of cool things. I wish something else could do it. Come on Korg release an A3 in a pedal!!! WOOHHOOOO!!!
i don't want to sound annoying, but i would appreciate it if you could tell me the names of all of the pedals you are using...and all of the settings they are on...thanks and great video 5*'s
I think you very accurately capture the shift in the song @ 02:45, which is wonderfully similar to The Edge live and takes Mysterious Ways from being a great song to making me shiver.
hi, thad is very good. i'm trying to do the same sound, can you teach me ? if you can i will be very happy because i love these guitarris!!!!!!!! thanks
Eventide pedals are cool. My TimeFactor is on 99% of the time so I don't notice tone suck. Most of the other pedals are isolated within Buffered Loops so they are only in my audio path when they are on.
The intro part shuold be without the boss overdrive, the rest is almost perfect, but only korg A3 can do the same sound. I prefer this version than the other one with the M13 that sounds more digital. Amazing. Do you think the eventide pedals suck tone? I will buy two of them soon and I'm worried about loosing my vox chime.
Great vids. What do you think of the Modfactor? Considering it, but worried it's too cold due to the digital nature of the pedal. Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Ha yes I've got one already :-) Anyone can plug into an A3 and get that sound. However, they are old, noisy and often digital in sound so not suited to all sounds. Especially if you have a pedalboard...
Almost have it... what is the time setting for the second delay pedal? (Time Factor - kicked in for solo)

The Korg A3 is a multi-effect rack unit.
U2John316 - what are you're settings in the Emma? I'm trying to replicate, but can't quite get the right settings on the Emma. Thanks man!

can you make the effect with a wah pedal
???

You can get a similar sound but it wont be the same. You would also have to get the timing down of moving your foot.
