I love that ESP. You are doing a great job of bridging the gap between what role the bass is typically thought to play. I am aspiring to do the same. Depends on what music you like. I personally am a rock/metal kind of guy. Bands like Muse, Dream theater, Red hot chili peppers, and Tool all have great bassists.

umm...tone and pitch...basses aren't as high pitched as a guitar...plus, the two are tuned differently. from the chords he's playing here...it seems as though that bass is tuned to all 4ths...Where a guitar is tuned to 4 4ths, a 3rd, then one 4th.

Sometimes I "hear" a melody in my head, and try to play it, but most of the stuff I come up with are melodies I "accidentally" come up with as a result of just jamming. If you play for hours, you´re bound to stumble accross a nice melody sooner or later :) Thanx for commenting /Victor

there are also 5 and 6 string variants. i myself play a LTD/ESP 6 string bass. there arent harder to play too say. its a matter of preferance :3

The fretboard is wider. It makes it tricky to play some lower strings up the neck, but I've noticed the player in this video holds his left thumb much differently than I do, so that probably helps
