I didn't notice your comments! Tony is right I'm playing the song in G using standard G tuning, I tried an arrangement in C (the key I use for this song on tenor) with gCGBD but this works better...

thanks for your appreciation, when I have a bit of time I'll write a tab of tis and let you know if you're intersted.

    best

  • thanks man.. thought that might be the case. caught a bit of your pickin as well might I say.. Well done.. very nice..

  • Yes I saw this on BHO.. I love this arrangement.. It's totally changed my thinking on 5 string banjo I love the way this stands as a beautiful song on just banjo. especially with the fingerpicks.. I can't seem to grasp clawhammer and have been looking for a new approach.

as far as tuning.. I would guess that this is done in either double C tuning or it is being played in the key of G.. just watching. the original key seems to be C as in the Billie Holiday versions. later some E as key.

  • @kirbonite I got a chance to sound it out. Paolo is playing the song in the key of "G" while his banjo is in G-tuning. He's using more of a "fingerstyle technique" with a thumbpick. I do this often as I like the crisp, clean sound of the pick sounding the string.

  • Excellent Paolo. I didn't pay enough attention, but are you in g-tuning (gDGBD) or standard tuning (gCGBD)? I love your chord voicings, very tasteful.

  • I love this this jazzy mood on a 5 string !

  • Very nice, Paolo. I enjoyed that. Beatiful chord coloring.

  • Fantastic
