the reason "so many" people had problems with vista is because they tried to install it on a dinosaur computer. Window's even told everybody "this OS is a big deal, and it won't run correctly on anything on anything that wasn't built in the past year or so" but then again who reads that kind of stuff anyway.

Vista is pretty good now. Now that is has Services pack 2. Don't know when SP3 will be here.

I do plan on getting a computer soon. But might install Vista Ultimate 64-bit. Kinda hate the look of windows 7.

The only real downside to Macs are that they don't have much customization hardware-wise. I remembered trying to play Crysis on a Power Mac, didn't work very well.

@zenokro It is called Bootcamp. If you have a mac and want to play games, you can simply use bootcamp. Not much of a challenge or obstacle, really. Plus, you have a powerful, well-designed computer on top of that.

I've noticed that most of the people who go on about how a PC/Windows is better than a Mac don't happen to work on a help desk or as a desktop support tech for a medium - large size business/corporation where you get FAR more exposure to many more kinds of problems.

I actually had the opposite experience. I temped at a large school in the IT department, and in the entire time I was there ( only a month, thankfully), we had more apple products fail on us than anything.

Are macs bad products? No, but failure rates start to seem inflated when you're called in at stupid o clock to sort out basic issues a child could fix.

Neither product is Superior in a traditional sense, they're just different.

Well, ever heard of the mixed market economy? i.e. The economies we live in. It's up to the government to protect small businesses. Microsoft was dominating the makret, but monopolies are illegal unless they're publically owned (PLCs). Basically, US govt. said that M$ had to buy into apple, to stop them being run into the ground. The reason for this being, competition breeds efficiency- lower prices for consumers.

I read an article that said that every OS upgrade is actually LESS efficient (in terms of speed) than the previous. That's why the system requirements are always risen with each OS release. Jaguar would probably run much faster than Leopard if both were used on the same computer.
