Yeah, there are so many different names for banjo strums. Some folk go so far as to use the term 'Roundpeak' to denote the act of simply cutting the first quarter note of the frailing strum into two eighth notes. What I like about the Costellos is how they cut through the confusion and just call it 'playing the banjo'.
As for tabs for the song, here's a quick easy way to play it:
Tune your second string up to C, this puts you in G modal tuning. Fret the first string at the third fret and do two 'strum thumbs'. Then pick the first string open and immediately play the second string open with your thumb or just strike it quickly with your picking finger. Then immediately hammer on the second string at the third fret without picking it first (a 'phantom' hammer on)and then strike the second string open.
