@jerzkid87 Just buy some neodymium magnets and ferrofluid online, but be wary. It's not cheap. My 2 oz bottle of ferrofluid was $25 and my magnets all together are worth another $15. You gotta want it
Its called ferrofluids. Clearly, they behave incredibly in the presence of powerful magnets. Basically it is just some sort of organic solvent or water in which ferromagnetic particles, most commonly iron, but also others including chromium oxide, nickle, and cobalt, are dissolved. Once this has occured, the liquid, or ferrofluid becomes extemely polarized in the presence of magnets- which explains the substances interesting behaviors. Truly fascinating.
Actually I'm happy :) at you suftthenashawn it's not your fault its one of many flaws that exist in reality otherwise we would all be bored out of our minds.
The maker of the vid doesn't state his or her knowledge about the video so how are you gonna come out all pompous as hell and try to claim that your smarter, or of more knowledge than the "maker" of the vid P.S. im 17 as well and even i recognize your pathetic attempt at rising above someone else. you little ignorant bastard. That "water metal", which makes no more sense than your stupid ass claim, is called "FERROFLUID". How many times it needs to be stated on this page for you to get that. WOW

are u retarded thats what it is? its metal grinded up so little thats it becomes to liquid form.. even more grinded and it would of became to gas form
actually it's some ferrous material ground up and put in OIL. Even more grinded it would be a gas? No it probably wouldn't have seeing how to go from a solid state to a gas state requires that energy be added to the material. so no, it's not water metal. So if your 17 or maybe 18 now, you should probably go back to high school science.
err... im 21 and i consider myself a genius i know how atom work and I know what Gaseous/liquid/solid form is.. its a trick of the eye and yes it would become gaseous
@Bmmal lol i wish i could remember that comment forever its not his fault that he has never seen sand before we should let him know that sand well never be a liquid sometime soon.
@RandomGuyNamedSteve haha This is one of the few times I've posted comments on youtube and about every year someone reads this thread and comments. Still cracks me up. Wonder if he has any rebuttal?
I miss SIGGRAPH. they always had the most amazing art pieces including this one. Remember the wooden mirror? If that vid isn't here i have one i could post. Now if someone would just post a "how to" video to make our own.
they were showing this exact version st SIGGRAPH LA a few years ago, very cool indeed...but you REALLY dont want to touch the ferrofluid because it will never come off your skin, clothes, etc...
This is the kind of things you see in a film and say "Well, finally aliens appeared!"

Simply take some waste oil, put steel shavings in it and you have the elusive "ferrofluid".
