"last meeting we all decided to look at student engagement, so i'm assuming instead of student engagement, we will be looking at something COMPLETELY different." LMFAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OMG! Isn't it amazing that this is the norm in many public schools? CPS is guilty of this.... and God we know the students no longer take tests seriosly!
It's sad that this is so dead on! On the other hand, as misery loves company, I feel a strong solidarity with my colleagues across the continent. I wonder if it's a script that they pass out to administrators, or just a list of "talking points"?
I'm betting the creators of this were once the GATE, ADHD bored kids in a "traditional" classroom. Thanks for sharing the insanity and laugh. Check out the Parent/ Teacher Conference with the same voices. Is there a website for these?
@barjcoln a BCR is a brief constructed response... Basically a paragraph that follows certain rules. Whereas ECR is an Extended response also known as an essay.

This is so funny- it is exactly what my district has been doing for the past 5 years! I waver between laughing and crying at the staff development meetings, the PLC meetings, the ILT meetings and the DSLT meetings!
So hilarious and so true! "The one thing I will keep of yours is the objective. Since no one reads those anyway." Love the part about it not being an evaluation yet the need to use a rubric. HA!
Hilariously sad, only because it so closely parallels what's truly going on between adminstrators and teachers. Talking in circles and setting ridiculously unattainable and contradictory expectaions. Not to mention the fact that meanwhile the students as a whole don't give a crap about any of it and they're making a mockery of it all. ...."Is there a way to differentiate the lesson by not doing such a shitty job of modeling?" Haha, classic! Wish it were that straightforward to us teachers.

Is something important because you measure it, or is it measured because it's important?

What is a BCR? This is not a term I've heard.

This is pretty much where reform and NCLB has taken us.

"terrible at modeling"? Insulting teachers: not the best way to influence change.

"it is not supposed to be an evaluation." Had this EXACT discussion w/ admin.
Sad to find this is universal.

@thestealthblonde
true that-we had this same conversation at our last BLT

And I hope the educational discussion can move away from "bad teacher" to terrible policy and policy makers. This is sadly accurate

Oh the joys of incompetent admin's! This seems so universal for all teachers in the United States! NCLB needs to go! AWESOME!
