    They arn't they target different parts of the bicep. The Bicep is made of two muscles big muscles (and they can be broken down even smaller) but you work different heads when you do different angles of the bicep workouts. (Bi-two). Google bicep muscles or Arnold Swartz... Encylcopedia of bodybuilding has good explanations if you trust literature more. Sorry for spell fail.

  • 5 sets of 5, for five weeks, increase weight for each week. at the fifth week you go back to your second weeks weight and do that ppattern again. This is maximum muscle build. Protein is very very important

  • Thnx brenyboy!! I go to a gym daily and have done so since january of this year. though i've always power-walked i decided to up the anti and take my arse to the gym to tone up. Walking is great cardio and i'm definitely match fit there. Time to kick the muscles into action. I can always ask at my gym of course, but at a random moment I just came on here for a quick gander at what tips were floating around online.

  • id rather do this exercise standing up, back against a wall and in anatomic position (anterior part of arm facing dorward). i find it more effective this way, and the whole idea of having your back agianst the wall prevents one from cheating ie: swinging your body back and forth which makes it easier to do the reps. youre supposed to stay still and focus solely in your biceps, i seen bodybuilders swing their bodies, but that isnt as effective as staying still

  • Proper form is very important. You work different muscles with incorrect form. Correct form works the muscles that you intended to workout and is more concentrated, which may also mean you will be lifting less. . since you will not be using those 'extra' muscles for that workout.

  • Are you fat or skinny? Is it easy or hard to do 20 lbs? If you're fat and it's easy to use 20 lbs. keep going. If you're skinny, use more weight if it's easy.

  • If you haven't been doing it long thats fine at 15, I think I was lifting the same at that age. Generally you should do these in 3-4 sets, 8-10 reps. If your easily doing more then this add some weight. Keep good form and don't swing,

  • No prob ;) Got to start somewhere! One last bit of advice, working out only makes up 40% of building muscle. The rest is eating right and rest. Try to up your protein intake and make sure you get a minimum of 8hours a night. Have fun!

    well i can do the 10's with ease,so i try to stack both 10's together to make 20,but its hard to hold them both at once because the bars are fat..i do concentration with ease,the ones that tire me out are short bicep curls while standing...

    i do hammer curls,but i dont feel like its a challenge,thats why i work mainly on bicep curls with great form...but i tire out quickly...i bought whey protein from GNC..it's 20 grams per serving,i mix a scoop with milk

  • I find 3 sets being very effect. 1st set being atleast 10, 2nd being 8-10, and last one being 6-8, depends on what exercise, but that's what I do with all weighted exercises.

    i run the treadmill after i start my workout...i run on it for an hour and a half...i start off with with some reps,as i clearly stated,but you chose to ignore...when i'm done with the treadmill i do more reps..what i don't understand,is how is too many bad? why is less reps good? do you not see results if you workout a lot? i don't have 20 pound bells,that's why i use 10 pounders,gonna buy some soon.

    u will overstrain ur muscle,

    u can ask every1 whose take weight,

    if u planned to buy a dumbbell,

    i suggest u get those that can add weight,

  • thats strange...i thought working out nonstop would stimulate muscle growth..i'm novice to this,admittedly....i barely started about a month ago on a regular 5-6 day workout routine..i take muscle rush,which helps stimulate growth and helps prevent muscle fatigue..then when i'm done i take 20 gram whey protein shake...i'm gonna put some money into my dumbells like u suggested,because i dont go to a gym,i do it at home..i can lift 20 with ease,but not more than that yet..

  • You don't need to do any isolation bicep excercises if you work hard on your back. Pull up's, Bent over rows and lat pull downs.

    Same is true for the triceps if you work hard on pushing chest excercises.

  • Once you have been training for a while and get the hang of concentration curls, you can hang your arm down instead of resting it on your leg. This will help you concentrate more on your bicep being worked. Just don't swing the weight!

  • Two questions:

    1. Why is he bracing his elbow against his leg? Seems like that would make it easier.

    2. Why doesn't he raise the weight all the way to his shoulder?

    I'm not criticising - I just want to get it right.

  • 1. By placing his arm to his thigh he is isolating his bicep - doesn't take any weight off, it actually makes it harder.

    2. When you raise the weight the whole way to your shoulder your actually starting to take some of the weight off letting your bicep relax, so to benifit fully from this you should do about a 70% lift.

  • Im doing 15lb 4 x 6-8 reps, im going to continue doing this till it too easy, then ill jump to 20lbs.

    9.5KG is 9.5*2.2(lb/kilo) 19+1.90= 20.9lbs so about 21lbs.

  • you shouldn't work out the same muscles everyday... atleast once a week, and work on a different group of muscles.

  • because your body needs to recover... if u are a beginner i suggest you start doing one day a week for each muscle group until u get the hang of it. trust me u'll get there soo if u really workout smart and hard. then u can start doing two days a week for each muscle group. someething like:

    bicep/tricep

    shoulder and legs or legs separetly, since they are big muscle groups

    chest and back (i'd rather shoulder and back)

  • I'm currently decided to go 3 x 10 15lb with Hammer Curl and regular Biceps Curl and 3 x8 concentration, I'm going to train 3 times a week depending if I'm well rested, because sometimes i get 7 hours of sleep and sometimes 9.
