Dekaranger/SPD Red Ranger comparison

Dekaranger's characters are some of my favorites.

Power ranger's storyline is too cheesy . Super sentai is suitable for all ages while power rangers is just for kids . Super sentai is more mature and awesome !

I like the Dekaranger version better, I didn't like the disney version, it has too much jumping. My opinion, disney ruined Dekaranger, like it did with the other sentais, except for Abaranger/Dino Thunder.

Dekaranger is better. When Saban does power rangers, he only focus on to make it look cool, with super sentai, they focus on the story( both plot and background) and to make it look cool.

One thing that I really liked in SPD, that I wish they did in Dekaranger, was that colour and number actually meant rank within the squad.

But I like Ban's character, but thats just me being Biased. I really like the loud mouth cocky Rangers, its amusing.

i wish the jap version made the fight scene like that... i mean i just fckin love 1:45 and 2:14 from the SPD.. i know the jap are tryin to show his gun skills, but if the red ranger can jump from the ground to a tower at 5:53 , he can add style to his gunslinger action... jap version = boring to me...SPD = nice fight scene...

Because I love both series so much I just have a hard time accepting the fact that in the making of S.P.D they pretty much just lazily copied everything from DekaRanger.

I watch Series Like that since I was a Kid(First one was Changeman), and small things, like for example how Rita Repulsa could See the Earth With a Telescope(what also happens in SS), isnt such a issue, but the newest PR are a bit of a exageration, and about the acrobatics, I love being alive, so Somersaults and jumping from High Places, was 300% out of question, even when I was a Kid.

That also Means, that SS got a few things, that doesnt make sense at all.

through a child's perspective, this is the only series where I kinda prefer the ranger series did better than the sentai series. Rangers was more in depth about ranking and colour. Also the remixed action scenes were so awesome...

I like the Deka scene more i for one like rash and screaming Red`s but that`s not the reason. the reason is that Power Rangers is mostly show with nice special effects and awesome wirework. but i STILL prefer style over special effects and the Dekaranger scene still has that whilst the SPD version has it mostly removed.

Sentai always comes before PR if you didn`t knew that your no fan!. And if you really want to go on about who was chosen first by Doggy, Jasmine (Dekayellow) was chosen by Doggy waaaaaaaaay before Dekaranger started.

Jack is actually Canadian, isn't he? I could've sworn I read somewhere that most if not all actors from SPD are Canadians.

Getting to what I was trying to say-- Ban's entrance was better in my opinion. Jack's entrance was kind of like.. okay, he had a choice to join, which he did. Shows up at the nick of time, then starts going ballista on everyone (but why?). Ban comes in and goes ballista on everyone, but we know why-- he was known to do things his own way/be reckless.

I thought both entrances were good. Jack was more of an established character than Ban was at the start of their respective series. Their entrances were both awesome, in different ways. Ban racing to the scene in PatrolStriker was pretty cool and both had a wicked first henshin.

This one is too close to call for me. I can't decide whether I prefer this scene in Dekaranger or SPD... each have different flaws, but both were pretty cool.

The English editing of the entrance was better in my opinion. There were much more flashy moves and effects. Yea Ban had one or two small ones that Jack didn't have but at the end Jack just had way more.

BTW i know most of you favour the Japanese version simply because people tend to be biased when wanting to choose the "original".

But in care you guys didn't know everything there was Japanese, it was just the editing and choice of cuts that made the difference.

Keep in mind, Disney idea is to show that guns can be negative. Show them real bullets would tempt them do re-enact the same stunts. Them knowing lasers aren't real, the kids are less likely to do the same thing.

Ban/DekaRed didn't die at the end of the series... he was transferred to the SPD Fire Squad and then he came back to fight again in Magiranger vs Dekaranger...

and i like the Dekaranger scene... it's better than the SPD...

You haven't watched deakranger, have you? I will explain it. Monsters in SPD are mainly accused of theft and destruction of planets, that's why they only arrest them. But in Dekaranger, most of them are accused of homicides of humans and aliens, genocides, kidnapping, destruction of planets, bombing, etc. Mafia was also mentioned. That's why the dekarangers give them death penalty, something that police officers now would also do to those criminals if they were humans.

the Deka version is more believable then SPD, because i just cant see power rangers being cops, with sentai and deka i can, i dont know why, but its the way i see both.

that and deka just had the awsomness of the team(or part of) recieving ranger status before the show starts, and the drama of those old 70 and 80's shows like Emergancy

I kinda hate how SPD is really just a weak bastard version of Dekaranger. I mean what happened to the times when Power Rangers and Sentai were actually different? I find it an extreme waste of resources to reshoot everything but just with non-Japanese people if you're going to more or less use the same story. And Disney taking out the more realistic looking combat like Ban's kick at 6:14 replace it with fake ass crouching tiger and horrible Matrix moves is just stupid.

SPD Suffers from the same problem, the newer Power Rangers do, Too Much Of Everything, Too Much Acrobatics, too much Ego, They overexaggerate, In Dekarangers they TRY to give a reason why Ban is good with Pistols, and try to show that, In my Opinion, SPD was a good try, but Tokusou Sentai Dekaranger still wins for a large advantage.....

Agreed. I like SPD, and a few PR series in general, but their biggest problem is how they treat the change like a "power." So even characters with little to no experience turn into combat gods. With Sentai, the characters themselves are awesome, and this stems from some element of their backstory (or at least their profession), and their ranger modes just gives themaugmentation (and access to better gear and mecha obviosuly).

But with Jack as SPD Red, if they showed how he is good with guns, some people may turn it into a racist thing because Jack is technically Black/Afro American, and many people say really mean and racist things about blacks when it comes to guns and such; like that whole "Guns don't kill people; black motherfuckers with guns kill people" which is very very mean; I can see why PR is watered down from SS due to many complaints and such; PR creators need to take their time to make good storylines

@lfskyden too much acrobatics, too much ego... you gotta remember, the show caters to young kids, not to people your age. Trust me. Kids do, in fact, forget about the minor things like why Ban is good with pistols. Watching it now, I do prefer the sentai series over the ranger series just because it has more content to its writing. But as a kid, I would so prefer the extra acrobats for myself to imitate on my moms queen sized bed. No such thing as over exaggerating action when your a kid.
