  • Love all the 19 handicaps in here playing armchair expert. Unless you can play better than Ryo, then shut up.

  • Message to all traditional diwwits in this thread: You don't have a clue what *geometrical* square is.

Ryo is SQUARE to PLANE in backswing and OPEN on top

  • @4JRimmer where's the plane?

  • He can strike the ball so well since he doesnt have a wang long enough to shift and off-center his weight. This is why most Asians are great at the game of golf. Dont be mad guys, its science.

  • @CameronStewart Yr right well spotted- its just pretty shut that all. Rest of the swing almost perfect and he holds off the release through impact a touch to stop that shut takeaway causing a hook.

  • Looks alot like Tiger Woods swing from the mid 90s.

  • This guy doesn't have your typical golf swing, but, Oh my he can play!

  • Check out our new ryo ishikawa video!

  • although the face is slightly closed he is still a good player and has many more years to play!!

  • I wouldnt say so...Ryos club face is slightly shut at the top and on his bad swings he may get a little across the line. Hes probably had to learn to try to square it up at the top a bit but the nature of the move allows him to hold it off at impact for more shaft lean and better compression of the ball. Awesome move!

  • This is the future of golf swings. The face is not shut coming back, because the goal of his swing is to have his club face square for as long as possible. This way his clubface is square for longer and his misses are much better. They teach this stuff more in Europe then NA.

  • @brud9 so does having a closed-face takeaway will naturally square up the face at the top of the backswing then??

  • pretty sure that was nancy lopez

  • @murphy992 ryo has more of a one plane swing, so his clubface needs to be at the same angle as his spine slow the video down take a look and you will see it appears to be closed but it's the same as his spine angle.

  • wirkt nen bisschen steif^^

  • his divot goes the same speed as the ball haha

  • not a great swing.. look how closed his clubface is on takeaway, and at the top of the backswing. Can still shoot 58 though haha gotta give him that

  • @mmurphy992 just because someone swings with a closed clubface doesnt make it a bad swing, there are many reasons to do it. personal preference

  • you better be good golfer if you wear lime colored pants

  • Ryo has a tendency to take the club away too much on the inside, up and across the line at the top of the backswing as demonstrated in this clip. Numerous references on the WGC @ Firestone coverage were made to him trying to take the club more outside the line and around his body to get it in a better position at the top.

  • @psg8802 Lol keep believing the crap spouted on telly to keep the general public going to rubbish golf lessons that screw your swing up even more.

    Takeaway is perfect. Awesome swing.

  • @psg8802 I'm qualified by using my eyes, brain and experience to look outside the rubbish that a lot of other people spew on a regular basis, certified or otherwise. Congratulations on your biochemistry reputation and being an editorial board member of the ARGC. And congratulations on being conceited enough to believe that you know all. I guess your qualifications didn't cover humility and openness. Sorry for stepping on your God-like status. All hail psg8802. He's clearly above us all.

  • @psg8802 Compelling argument. And whilst we're on literacy skills, for a person so educated and highly regarded, I can read well enough to know that you can't type. Patronising as well as ignorant and conceited? Your list of attributes just grows and grows doesn't it? This is really bringing out the best in you.

  • @psg8802 So now all you can say is flowery "F*** Off". Nice. I bet it took all your qualifications, know-how and years of experience to formulate that response.

  • @psg8802 Lordy Lord! LMAO! A threatening private message from the educated man! He wants to get physical! Your self proclaimed brilliance is meaning less and less with every message.

6pm. Tuesday September 28th. Coffee shop opposite Fenchurch Street train station. You bring your accolades, I'll try not to laugh.

  • next tiger

    minus the scandal

  • im not a critic and i know hes better than me but it looks to me dat his club face is closed at waist height

  • @irishkiid94 it is but wat ever works everyone is different

  • whata talent

  • @CameronStewart what u on about? , take away is great i think. This is a guy who recently shot 58 dude , i think thats the only 'odd' thing about him

  • @lasherza He shot 58 at par 70 course lol

  • @dlwodnr1552 who cares? there have been very few people to ever shoot a 12- par, or a 58 for that matter. It doesn't matter what the par was it was the fact that he can deliver a 12- par and you can't.

  • we are so obsessed with analyzing golf swings anymore. the golf ball don't lie. everything leading up to impact is personal style ,but all great players are almost identical at impact. this is true or trevino, furyk and others would be flippin burgers for a living. chill out and enjoy their talent.

  • @jr55ful That's probably the best response to all of the "youtube experts" I've ever read. I love reading all of these (most likely) 30 handicappers talk about all of the "wrong" positions in the golf swings of the best players in the world. I would bet that a lot of them haven't ever seen a PGA event in person. It would probably blow their minds to see them hit a golf ball in person.

  • @leaolebron23 your right he does have a open club on back he changes qucik great swings

  • whats up with the grip O.o he has one finger off the grip, wierd

  • such a beautiful swing. this guy's going to be huge. give him like four or five years to start figuring out the PGA tour.

  • Ryos swing is far superior to Rorys. Rory rolls his left arm slightly as he takes the club away flattening his wrists, this is why his hands are slightly lower at the top of his swing. To keep the club on plane as he comes down (and he does this exceptionally well) he has to violently release he lower body and contort his core. This is why he has severe back problems at the age of 20. Now Rory has amazing leg action through impact but its a necessity rather than an asset.

  • You don't know what you're talking about.. Rory's ballstriking stats are far superior to Ryos, Ryo is just a much better putter.

  • what type of pants are those?

  • nice powerful young swing!

    i love it :)

but the club face is quite shut on his back swing... isn´t it?

    greetz from "Langer-Kaymer-Land" ;)

  • its shut on the takeaway but at the top of the swing its pretty spot on i dont know what he does halway back lol

  • Wow very closed club face at 0:04, also right heel quite a bit off the ground at impact. I still think Rory McIlroy has a better swing.

  • no way man ishikawa is a straight thug

  • Don't get you man, "straight thug"? Don't get me wrong Ryo has a great swing I just don't think its as good a Rory's, and thats nothing to do with me being Irish, i promise ( * ~ * )

  • @HabloIrlandes oh ya then why did ryo won 7 tournaments and Rory only won 1 tournament

  • With all due respect to the Japan Tour, it's no where near the levels of the European Tour or PGA Tours, Rory has won on the ET, and his record on the PGA Tour is outstanding hence Rory's current no9 world ranking. Dont get me wrong I can't wait to see these guys mature and have some great battles.

  • @HabloIrlandes there is still 140 players at every tournaments in japan and it's only japenese players and check the scores that Ryo won with it's the same thing i don't understand what is your poit

  • @HabloIrlandes i mad a mistake what is your point

  • My point is, the quality of the fields that Rory plays in week in week out is greater, hence the world ranking points are higher. This is reflected in Rory's position in the world rankings. Ryo has won 7 times yet is ranked lower than Rory, the reason being Rory is playing against better golfers on harder courses week in week out. Look Im not saying Ryo is a bad golfer just that I think Rory is better and has a more technically correct swing and that Im looking forward to them going head to head

  • @HabloIrlandes look at ryo scores that he won with it's as good as Rory who told you that the japan golf courses are not as hard' and rankings are stupid there is a lots of great golfers on earth and there not in the world rankings ryo is lower but it doesn't mean that he's not as good as Rory

  • If I tried to reply to this comment I would be participating in a nonsense discussion, lets just agree to disagree. Have a nice life, good bye.

  • @HabloIrlandes sorry i din't mean to make you mad lets just say thy are both great golfers it's impossible to know who is better until now' maybe later on

  • Great swing...!

  • Liken the pants!

  • hhaha, the divot flies head to head with the ball for quite some time :)

  • muscles that ball out der!!

  • looks like tiger's old swing

  • haha your right

  • Yup.

  • @ewotre32 yes it dose

  • that club is SHUT!

  • its shut at p2 but at the top of the backswing its perfect.

  • WHAT??? that clubface is PERFECTLY SQUARE!!! it matches his wrist angle exactly... nimrod

  • very strong grip

  • Great swing
