I don't see how a SP fan can say these songs are somehow inferior to older ones. Of course we're going to react differently that when we first heard a band.

I love the Pumpkins but Nirvana owned them. Even Billy Corgan thanked Kurt Cobain for his major influence(even though they were around at the same time)...Kurt Cobain was a genius.BTW youtube Nirvana playing twister with smashing pumpkins. Its EPIC.
the first time i had ever heard the smashing pumpkins is 1979 from mellon collie in my brothers room when i was about 4. i forgot about them for a long time and then that beat from 1979 came into my head and i was like "what the hell is that? i like it" i asked my brother and he said smashing pumpkins. ever since i have been listening to as many pumpkins songs as i can
I saw them at rockafellers west in Houston Tx with my brother who is now dead sad to say. I saw them with the Peppers and Pearl Jam. Two of the best concerts I've ever been to, and I've been to a lot. Smashing Pumkins are smashing!
There's nothing better than listening to a song that makes you think of the person you love. Check out my song "Diane" if you're in love and never want it to end. Send it to your boyfriend, girlfriend, or even your friends. It's the first video on my youtube channel. Enjoy!
i listened to this album the other night. Hadnt heard it before...i was blown away. How did this album not make an impact? its one of their best in my opinion!!!
@mrlee192 I'm not so sure, it has promise but drags towards the end and the production is way overboard. You should listen to Machina II it has way better songs even if it hasn't been properly mixed. Glass Theme will blow your face off
I wrote the lyrics to this song on my wife's birthday day card this song strikes a chord in the heart has deep emotions i would agree that this one of the best songs ever from smashing pumpkins no matter how old it gets still makes you feel young in love again classic
Who ever say Machina: The Machines of God l was a bad album doesn't deserve ears to listen to music like this with. Machina: The Machines of God is an album that only appeals true adults or young people who have grown beyond their years in wisdom.
I know some of you are gonna disagree but, I think this is the last great Smashing Pumpkins song, maybe I'm just getting old but it's just not the same anymore like it was back in the days :(
@Desperadounico That's a very depressing thought. Most of the bands these days couldn't even hold a candle to this band...........or am I just getting old too....hmmmmmmmm (scratches balding head......)
I don't think the band was ever the same once Wretzky got all messed up. It's unfortunate, cuz they were really a nice band. They seemed to really love and respect each other.
@Desperadounico true, I get mad when people just say the first 2 alums were their best, I think Everything from 91-2001 was incredible, The Pumpkins themselves are the best Alternative rock band out their imo, and I know all the Nirvana fans will get pissed, but these guys blow Nirvana out of the water!
@hellchild65 u said it urself their DIFFERENT GENRA, so ur saying i can compare Led Zeppelin with Katy perry lol ur wrong my friend thats why classifications exist Classic rock, alternative, metal etc...
@TheJari23 Ummm yeah you can nothing is stopping you from doing it, a giant fiery hand isnt going to come down from the sky and rip out our soul. And also you didnt fully read what I said I never stated comparing pop to rock so let me make it more obvious " A DIFFERENT GENRE *OF ROCK*. you can compare alice cooper toooo idk, black sabbath if you want to, you can compare Led Zepplin to T. Rex, or NIN to Rob Zombie, those ones are not too far of a stretch, same with Pumpkins and Nirvana
@hellchild65 idk u but im still saying that u cant compare em cuz Nirvana is GRUNGE and the pumpkins are alternative. Ur right, they play rock but different kind of rock
@drumsRbetter666 i disagree, i think they are overrated as it is, they are not bad by any means, they worked hard, but they are nothing extraordinary in terms of music.
@hellchild65 nirvana is in a different category then smashing pumpkins. they were considered grunge music. and the ones that went to foo fighters didn't keep that type of music. but grunge probably died with curt
@sickstar14 actually nirvana is grunge, but all in all they are rock just like pumpkins. but they are totally different bands like i said. it's all opinion who you like. pumpkins had no talent anyway.
Billy lead singer of the band was greatly influenced by Kurt Cobain of Nirvana. Why even compare both? They're both great bands in there own ways, why not rant on music you hear now a days instead.
@ricketydoodah True, and such a shame - everything from Gish through Machina II was good, and Siamese Dream through to Adore were great. But the albums/songs since "reforming" have been terrible
@hellchild65 nirvana fans won't be pissed because they are 2 totally different bands and genres for that matter. so it doesn't even make sense to put them in the same sentence.
@sickstar14 omg last time im going to say this, both are alternative rock groups, "rock" being the key word, and dont tell me "well nirvana was grunge blah blah...." its pretty much under alterntaive rock anyways, thus you can compare them.
@Desperadounico "I'm just getting old but it's just not the same anymore like it was back in the days :(" nothing is ever the same and were all growing old.......great song.

WHO GIVES A CRAP WHAT YOU THINK ABOUT LADY GAGA. Totally different genre of music. Seriously. If you don't like it don't listen to it. Plus this is an SP video. Why waste your time talking about her instead of how awesome the Pumpkins were.
Keep in mind that SP's early influences were more along the lines of The Cure and New Order in the very late 80's. I think when Adore came around, it was a healthy mix of the past and present. People just weren't ready for it.
Believe or not this was the first song my wife and i danced to at our wedding. Our "first song" as a married couple. We took dance lessons and didn't tell anyone and they were all blown away!
@77schifano awe this is such a great song for that kind of occasion! Awe! I couldn't find a sweeter song, yea its not conventional but sweet, congrats :D
@77schifano I'd , and SP fans, love to see the video of you and your wife dancing to this song at your wedding. How about posting. Can imagine the suprise the guests got when this song started playing and you both got on the dance floor!!!!! Congratulations and enjoy married life. Take care.
i sure miss the original pumpkins. this cd is awesome, it's just that it came out during the time pd when the pop-punk scene was getting big with blink 182 n those wackos, and when the likes of limp bizkit got big. basically, the end of good alternative rock and the rise of shitty pop music.
@jt8402 The only band nowadays that can stand up with The Smashing Pumpkins is Poets Of The Fall, and I can't find their CDs in freaking America. But I sure can find Lady Freaking Guy Guy every where.
SP in my opi is still, and always be among the best band from 90's music scene. And I really love their surreal music videos.
But from Adore to Machina, I thought that somehow I saw image similarities between SP and the movie The Cell. Thus I always reminded about that film everytime I saw SP's videos from that era. Am I alone in thinking this way?
Machines Of God, was the most adult album The Smashing Pumpkins ever released. Songs like "Stand Inside Your Love", "Try Try Try", and "The Ever Lasting Gaze" were so moving and simply beautiful. If you Paid attention you'll see that every album is a phase in the human life this one was about growing Adore is about learning to love, Melancholy And The Infinite Sadness was about leaving your youth behind, Siamese Dreams was about teen an abused teen, Gish was about having fun as a child
@X0X1X4X7 Same here,I was born in 1989. I use to hate music because i thought it was all crap like my fiend were listening until Max Payne( A Video Game) bought Poets Of The Fall in to my life. Here are some good band and singers Poets Of The Fall, R.E.M, Stone Temple Pilots, Breaking Benjamin, Apocalyptica, Sunrise Avenue, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Guns & Roses, The New Smashing Pumpkins and Newton Faulkner . Elvis, Joe South, The doors,The Rolling Stones, enjoy and god bless:-)
The Pumpkins were always one of my favorites because of gems like this. Its for lack of better words beautiful. This song speaks to me like no other and I'm not sure why.
Years ago it used to be my and my ex girlfriend favourite song... Damn i miss her... Who would it be the one you love? Who would it stand inside your love? Wish you were here baby...
Machina is such an underated Pumpkins album. I never hear anybody talk about this album when I mention this band. This album had everything that represented the parts of the Pumpkins I love. I love everything that this band does but their are songs on this album that give me a different vibe that I cant describe. Its electric:)
what really sucks for me is that i am always going to be a smashing pumpkins fan and idk if anyone else is listing to his new stuff but it seems as if each album is getting weeker and weeker for the lyrics and i jsut want him to come back and blow me away with somthing amazing
@JonasAndBruce No, Billy was waving to and shaking hands with the audience for about 10 minutes after the show. It was awesome. That's why I've seen the Pumpkins at 4 times and can't wait for the 5th. I've met him in Minneapolis and he signed my MCIS vinyl. Anyone that says Billy is a prick and asshole has never met him. He's a really cool dude.

HA, all pretentious music geeks try to push that only the first or first two albums were good crap with any band.
Shitty people make arbitrary measures of what is good so they can point to others who like something else and say, "You suck."
We must tell these people to shut the hell up.
I thought some of the songs on the last two albums were some of the best.

i sure miss the original pumpkins. this cd is awesome, it's just that it came out during the time pd when the pop-punk scene was getting big with blink 182 n those wackos, and when the likes of limp bizkit got big. basically, the end of good alternative rock and the rise of shitty pop music.

To hell with VH1, I voted it the best music video ever, and if VH1 has a problem with that they can take it up with me.

It loses some of its artistic appeal when you realise the king is the fat guy from Borat.

@CalmNoise "Machina" was a great album, but unfortunately got panned by critics, because they didn't like Billy Corgan...WTF???

The pumkins expression of inperfections in their music is very creative, the world isn't perfect, never was and never will be.
Timeless music they have created.

"Recast as child and mystic sage" :) Machina and its epic guitar arrangements live on! Thanks for posting.

Machina is such an underated Pumpkins album. I never hear anybody talk about this album when I mention this band. This album had everything that represented the parts of the Pumpkins I love. I love everything that this band does but their are songs on this album that give me a different vibe that I cant describe. Its electric:)

@hartw3ll I agree. They played this song at the concert a couple days ago in Seoul. It was awesome. I got this record on vinyl back in the States.

what really sucks for me is that i am always going to be a smashing pumpkins fan and idk if anyone else is listing to his new stuff but it seems as if each album is getting weeker and weeker for the lyrics and i jsut want him to come back and blow me away with somthing amazing

@fatcatbuzz haha thanks, he hasn't really changed has he?
JonasAndBruce 1 year ago
@JonasAndBruce No, Billy was waving to and shaking hands with the audience for about 10 minutes after the show. It was awesome. That's why I've seen the Pumpkins at 4 times and can't wait for the 5th. I've met him in Minneapolis and he signed my MCIS vinyl. Anyone that says Billy is a prick and asshole has never met him. He's a really cool dude.
