im a potter, i dont realy care what people call me ceramist or potter or pot head it doesnt realy matter... i do love the medium though, i first fell in love with clay in my highschool sculpture class and i loved it that you got to basically play wiht mud for a grade

and the things that you can make out of clay are amazing

It would be nice if this person knew something about pottery making... for instance... pottery making began before the discovery of fire... not 1000 years ago in China... The first pots were reed baskets lined with mud. Baskets and clay coated fish were eventually placed in the fires to cook.. The fire hardened clay became very useful items to hold oil, water and grain....

I know now! Thanks for the clarification- I was put a bit on the spot, and I actually *mention* something about what you said later (as the art history classes started flooding back into my brain), but a lot got cut... are you a ceramist?
