My friend John Korinek, whom I smoked my first cigarette with, did not come home. His coffin was returned to his new bride and he is buried in a little country graveyard south of Friend, Nebraska. I can't help thinking of him and his 56 Ford Fairlane with straight pipes. When Mary cries for Johnny to come home again, I think of John Korinek.
