Yes, Hekate as understood by Wiccans is *close* to Hekate as understood in Ptolemaic Alexandria, except that "maiden-mother-crone" comes from Robert Graves, having no ancient equivalent ... and they don't pronounce Her name correctly: the Erasmian reconstruction of ancient Greek has been disproven for decades. The final e is like e in festival or French fête.

According to Hesiod's theogeny she is depicted as a virgin goddess. She has three forms but nothing that i have read so far claims her forms to be maiden mother and crone. However her forms associated with animals such as the dog, cow, and serpent.

In Greek Paganism, she is the torch bairer, and in both forms she guards the crossroads. And Athena is the Goddess of War and Wisdom, dont forget that.

actually many people do sing these chants. Singing is a wonderful way to raise energy in a circle and if doing it with more then one person it is a great way to harmonize and unify those energies with one another. But they dont have to be used in practice i mean not every christian sings Christian rock when their in church. It sounds nice and it speaks to us. Final word everyone's tradition is different some might sing some might not its what they do if they can put it in great for them :)
