@EnglishBass Well in alot of old school rhythmn & blues & jazz songs bass guitar actually has alot more technique & riffs involved with it whereas in metal & other rock songs its just usually a repetitive riff or if ur lucky a bass solo part so I would have 2 agree with u these songs r usually more challenging or tricky 2 play with a bass which makes blues songs fun 2 learn.
