The tire looks like it had already given good wear, the scary thing was it was not even hot the day the tire blew out on you. It is said a tire is pretty 'old' by the time it is 6 or so years in use, they can go a little longer with cars garaged out of the elements.
Glad you're OK Buddy!! I've had a few Radials Blow out on me!! The steel belts separate from sitting around and you don't realize it till you're at highway speed then they cut loose!!☺
@805ROADKING Thanks I was fine I had total control of the car and just took my foot off the gas and slowly coasted to a stop on the side of the trans Canada highway fortunately it was the rear tire. They were about 25 years old so I decided to replace them all as I don't trust them anymore.
