i've been doing this but i've only been getting furniture.

I started off with Peaches in my town and got cherries and oranges in the mail by neighbors. I just replaced all non-bearing trees with the new fruit and every few days I would collect and sell the fruit for more than enough to cover for each house payment. This was my way of making fast money, then it would be time traveling to the holidays and selling the furniture (Easter, Halloween, Harvest, and Christmas Eve). If you're aggressive enough, you would be debt free in a couple of days IRL.
