sooooooooo helpful, even helped me with five string sorry just editing my comment from earlier, i was tone deaf before this now my friends call me the bass god :P thanks so much!!!!
NEVER held a bass befor no idea how the thing should sound looked all over you tube this is the only one i could use to tune by ear. you must know K.I.S.S. keep it simple stupid (stupid is the same as simple) F*CK POP LETS ROCK
Very helpful.....this was just what I was looking for om here and just stumbled across it and was so happy! It was easy to follow and NO TALKING was great! Thanks!
Thank you so much! I have a bass that I bought many years ago and I just took out of storage. I lost the tuner, but this is so easy, now I think it's perfect (or darn close).
I don't know if it's just me though, but you sound SLIGHTLY flat. Like, as in so slightly you could probably barely touch the tuners and they would be in perfect tune.
@AlphabetSoupCircus My hearing is not acute enough to to pick it up, however it could be that the tuner I have is marginally incorrect? Or perhaps in the process of recording it to my PC then uploading to Youtube there has been a fraction of time distortion altering the pitch ever so slightly? Hopefully it's close enough for you to get away with!
The tuner is right, it should sound a tiny bit flat. This is how your supposed to tune any stringed instrument. It is because when you put your finger down on the frets the strings are ever so slightly stretched thus highering the pitch slightly. So if the open strings are tuned a tad bit flat then when other fretted notes are played they are in perfect pitch.
this is JUST what I was looking for.. not some crap from a 20 man saying this is a string.. it plays a note.. it should sound like this.. but before I tell you. I'd like to talk about the history of guitars -.-
Just wanted to say thanks i was in the middle of a church service n my bass was't tuned but i saw this video and i did it so THANKS AGAIN N GOD BLESS YOU A LOT
@KayCato I used a plectrum (pick) to play the notes on this vid as it makes a crisper sound than finger picking. You can also pay around with the settings on your amplifier. If you lower the 'bass' setting and increase the 'treble' setting the sound is sharper and less 'muddy' - hope that helps a bit.
Thank you, Richard! Just bought a bass today, second had from cash converters. NEVER played one before, and wanna learn, and this video certainly helped with tuning!

@ATVxSn1pez Just tune it in standard tuning, which is EADG (thickest string to least thickest) Hope this helped!

@skapunk881 it tells me to chose a key A# B C C# and so on.. -.-
ATVxSn1pez 2 weeks ago
@ATVxSn1pez Hmmm...that's weird. Maybe you should get another tuner and just tune it in standard. You can get one for really cheap online.
