He basically passed up on clearing 5 more stages for a potential final score of 1.090-1.110M which clearly would blow Steve out of the water had he done so. For those who know and were there, Walter Day awarded Steve Wiebe a certificate proclaiming his the world champion in the TG Book of Records and the Guinness Book. THe PROBLEM is that immediately thereafter, Walter informed the crowd and Steve that Bill had achieved a 1.05M score, eclipsing his score by approx 1100 points. The videographer decided to leave that crucial part out, thus giving the impression that Steve set a new world mark.
