I had an old issue of Inside Kung Fu featuring an article on Benny U's fight history. I wish I could find it, as it gave a round-to-round description of what happened in the fight w/ the Thai. Benny had to put up with a ton of shit. The Thai kept throwing elbows and kicks to the groin. The rules weren't in favor of the Thai(he couldn't use the entire 'science of 8 limbs'), but he threw them anyway.
It was an exhibition bout, and the Thai was trying to really put him away.
I've never seen it myself but there is supposed to be footage of Urquidez being beated by a Thai boxer, but the WKA ruled it no contest. I'd love to see that footage.

I think you're mistaken there. I think Urquidez was the only American fighter to have any successes against Thai fighters in that era, since American fighters had never encountered leg kicks to that point. I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure he won at least one match.

to win this fight. Benny was a superb athlete and
skilled martial artist but all three of his
career matches against Thai boxers resulted in
losses and it sucks that he made excuses for
each loss.
