Strange how almost everyone in the UK loves Terry's commentating (many watch it just for that) yet others hate him... but the UK doesn't take the EuroSong as seriously as the other countries.

The UK doesn't take it seriously because Bucks Fizz won. :) Seriously, there are so few good UK entries (surprising for a country that dominated many branches of music internationally for a long time) that the Brits would be mad to take it too seriously. We'd all be miserable and depressed each year. Terry Wogan mixes "old school" with more modern, informal commentary and doesn't take himself seriously. I wouldn't recommend copying him, but presenters might do well to look at the basic mix.

And to be honest, most of Europe does not take it as seriously as some like to think, I'm sick of the myths that get spread. There are plenty of great performers from all over Europa who would go nowhere near ESC. And aren't there plenty of other British acts who may have been big around the world but really not exactly above something like ESC?
