Thanks for the tips. A friend of mine has aprox 9000 records. (see the video's on the playlists on our page). He spread the bug and now I stared to buy records as well. It's good fun.
I can't believe Expert Village is allowing this woman to keep her inaccurate info posted here. What a complete fraud. Her information is completely wrong. Look at the way she handles records. Opps, this one got by.
Why is having the name on the record so bad? I personally kind of like it. It tells a lot about where that record has been, who owned it last, that persons favorite kind of music. The name tells a story about the record. Oh, and thank you lady, for scratching it with your fingernails and taking half the value off.
@toasteroven427 I agree with that. I honestly, however, prefer an unmarked sleeve, but at the same time I got this Jean Micheal Jarre record from goodwill that seems to have been from all over, here is the story that I can imagine from looking at the jacket that has been marked through several times.
@APyleOfVinyl The LP was pressed in England, imported to America to a local library (sticker on cover) which was crossed out by a permanent marker and someone named JD owned it for a while and probably donated it! Fun story, eh?
I also prefer an unmarked jacket, sleeve, and record. However I don't make a production out of it like this lady. I don't like it when people destroy or damage their records though. I recently bought a 1970 Let It Be and somebody stabbed through the jacket several times. The record was fine, but the jacket, as you can imagine, and a lot of holes that went all the way threw the gatefold and out the back. Shame.

@qsergyuko Hey Serg, Nice of you to stick up for your Momma. The apple doesn't fall too far from the tree in your family. Now go give yo Momma a hug, take your medication and be a nice boy while she tries to earn a living on YouTube.
@qsergyuko It's time to take your medication. Now quiet down, go back to your cell and entertain yourself. You have no life, you have no intelligence, just a tiny little brain. You can't even communicate, such a dirty little uneducated mouth. I've blocked your replies, so kiss off. Got ya last!
@qsergyuko You little twit. You hide behind your keyboard trying to say scary stuff. I've seen your site, I know who you are, you are nothing. You little weakling. Now go back to your room and jerk off some more. Like I said, your mother in this video doesn't know what she's talking about. If you're so tough, post your phone number and I call out your skinnly little ass and kick it. FO!
@TheWhodatman who are you cunt?was i talking to you mate?you slimey little fuck,i would cut your body up into a 100 pieces you fucking little dog, give me your address now.
@qsergyuko Hey you tiny brained little shit head. I'm your gay lover from Australia, you know who I am. You are such a stupid idiot. You threaten to cut? You don't have the strength to cut. You know my address, you've been down here many times. Hey people, this is just a gay lovers spat. gsergyuko is a piece of crap, see his web page. Like I said, take your medication, and go yank you wanker!
Here's some new knowledge for our expert here. I have Stones and Pacemakers, etc. albums in my collection that I bought back between 1964 and 1968, and they have my name written on the back. What she doesn't understand is that when we were 15 years old in 1965, we had no clue about record collecting, future values, and the whole vinyl business. Her disparaging remarks are made out of ignorance. At that time it was not uncommon to mark them so they come back after a loan.
word vinyl is complex. and there is nothing wrong with handleing the record like she is.You can clean the fuckin oils out dumbass. yeah you paneeks 1960.
its retarded when ppl write on their albums but then again I get a lot of good records for cheap all because some idiot wrote on the cover.
PLEASE don't grab the vinyl, its really bothering me. If the album was in good condition before you opened it, it could be worse by the end of this review. The oil in your fingers can play a large role in longevity and sound on the tracking.
I appreciate your taste in music though and your tips.
as much as I entertain myself with these Expert village clips, I have to give Jan credit here.. She's right, record collecting has so many nuances and fine points that it's IMPOSSIBLE to explain what makes a record valuable ot not in 60 seconds! An important point not mentioned is groove wear.. too much emphasis on scratches. Groove wear causes fidelity loss, and distortion. The Joe Cocker album with scratches and dirt is not worth half, it''s common, easy to obtain in NM, so it's worth ZERO.!
having shrink wrap does not necessarily up the value, unless a collector really desires original stickers that might be on the original shrink. for the Joe Cocker LP, more like $8 to $10 graded mint. But shes right about anal record collectors, usually the early generation who were used to finding "now rare" vinyl, and mint in plenty ..well the good old days are long gone. Some would even refuse cutouts and considered drill holes on singles to be junk. sheesh
"dream a little dream" by Mama Cass was not recorded "after the Mama's and Papa's", infact the title cut features the whole band but was just credited to Cass.
LOL something about an old scary woman using the term "anal" that just creeps me out.

Yeah but if it's kept in the shrink wrap, it warps. But she wouldn't anything about that. She's NOT a record expert.

@toasteroven427
myth, I've found plenty of shrinkwraped albums with no warp.

oh yes, on a good turntable and grooves in condition..those pops can be as sweet n gentle as the crackling in a fire place.
