  • I love connecting with like-minded people. Add me!

  • I couldn't find this book in print...PDF only ?

  • The cover is very reminiscent of the old White Wolf W:TA cover....

  • The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen was a cool movie, Van Helsing was good, too cheesy though. I always thought that the League would have made a good game.

  • You forgot to mention Le pacte des loups (Brotherhood of the Wolf) movie.

  • I'm sold. Thanks Kurt- good stuff.

  • i went and got this and its great. im not sure it is as full as some of the other games by savage worlds, but its still pretty cool. oh ill just say it is because of this review i got it.

  • I couldn't understand 2:28.

  • whats not to understand?

  • you even find the.... ???

  • 2:28 plot points? or nautilus? thats whats his words are at 2:28...i understand both those words...

  • It was the nautilus, thanks, I had just never heard the word from someone in English. :P

  • I'm just curious, could you review the Necropolis 2350 setting for Savage worlds if you are able and willing? I'm kinda curious about it and would like to know what it's like.

  • Its coming soon.

  • And with that reply it sounds like something good.

  • Watched this. When out and bought the game. Grate game, thanks Kurt!

  • I want that. Great review.

  • i LOVE savage worlds and dont mind reviews of the settings. i would dislike it if kurt reviewed how to play savage worlds over and over again, but ill never complain about any settings review for any system.. i love all the different settings that are available.

  • Stop the "Savage Worlds" chain freak presentation plz...50% the time i come here, i see some savage worlds setting...talk about somethig else plz

  • More world of darkness :D ( Sorry, that is my fav setting at the moment )

  • Kurt review what he has in hand, He like Savage Worlds so he own a lot of Savage Worlds.

  • @pugknowspro I have to agree with gumed85. There is nothing wrong with liking Savage Worlds, but it would be nice if Kurt could branch out a bit more. I like to watch the reviews he does, but almost 80% of the time there are titles that just aren't for me.

  • We review what we have or are sent, It would be very costly to run out and buy games just for review.

  • @pugknowspro I understand. However, I was under the impression that this was produced with the backing of Drive Trhough RPG's. Not sure if this is a new idea, but wouldn't it make sense for them to provide Kurt with material to review (or maybe just borrow) so he can bring less well known products than Star Wars, Dungeons&Dragons, or Call of Ctullhu to people's attention? Maybe that would be worth negotiating?

  • When did this come out? My local games shop seems to think this was published 4 years ago....

  • It was- and Amazon still has it.

  • Eh... I think it's impossible for me to get excited or even be interested in YET ANOTHER urban fantasy game.

  • There's no such thing as too many UF settings....

  • Urban Fantasy or Regular Fantasy can be nice because you are not limited to much except your imagination. :)

  • They seem like the Watchers in Buffy if the Watchers weren't pussies.

  • Glowing review!

  • It had my interest until you mentioned the bit about grafting monster bits onto yourself to gain powers...

Maybe it's cooler 'in game' but that just sounds dumb when you say it out loud like that.

  • It is a lot cooler in the game, and directly links to the light "metaplot."

  • In game it works nicely, also it has a down side. Graft to much monster to yourself and you stand a good chance of becoming one.

Many players steer well clear of rippertech.

  • good to have you back

  • Welcome back dude...I also noticed you got rid of the traditional background (or lack there of). I've heard good things about rippers, so I'll look out for it next chance I get.

  • So it's cyberpunk rpg for the victorian age Cool. :]

  • There are entirely too many awesome Savage Worlds settings for my poor wallet to bear. Rippers sounds like a must have as does Slipstream, and I can't wait to get my hands on Deadlands Reloaded, Necessary Evil and Necropolis 2350. I already bought Sundered Skies. Factor in the upcoming Fantasy and Superpowers sourcebooks and I'm going to be very poor very soon...

  • I love your enthusiasm!

  • good to see you back

  • Awesome to have you back posting reviews.

  • I like your reviews, greetings from Germany! :-)

  • Thanks for the review, Kurt. It's good to have you back.

  • "And there's a lot there not to like."

    Heh.

  • I NEEDS IT!!!

  • I'm so gonna grab this just to dig ideas and explore historic setting. Otherwise, Rippers seems like Hunters: the Vigil-lite, even down to the fact that your characters can take advantage of enemy body parts (hearts) just like Cheiron Group can.

But setting and ideas make it worth it, at least to me.

  • Man, Frankenstein was just too curious, he wasn't a bad guy :)

  • welcome back, it look like you really enjoy Ripper!!!

Is good to have you back

  • What is there not to like about League of Extraordinary Gentlemen?

Oh, wait, you meant the movie, yeah there is alot not to like.

Anyway, as a fan of Victorian Action/Horror stuff thanks for this review, I'll have to kep an eye out for "Rippers" and check it outi.

  • hehe. I was about to make the same comment about League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. Awesome comic. Never saw the movie. :)

  • movie sucked. stick to the comic.

  • Yep movie was horrible.

  • It's alright if you take it as a sort of victorian action movie

Think of if the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen comic was done by Jeph Loeb instead of Alan Moore.

Tons of characters, tons of weird plot twists, kind of fun if you didn't want anything deep.

But if you're looking for a deep, multi-layered story...stick to the comic and stay far, far away from the movie.

(Alan said they licensed the movie before the comic was finished. They just used the Victorian concept, not any of his plot.)

  • Yay! More reviews!

  • Good to have you back, Kurt.

Oh yeah, and an f..ing nice review of a really fun setting.

    Thanks again.

  • Great to see you back. :) Good review, like new intro, nice background... but video and audio quality is much worse than it used to be. :/ What's up with that, Rob?

  • There's nothing like reply to yourself. HQ version is slightly better in terms of video, but audio is still a little dull.

  • Good to have you back! It looks like I will be trying Rippers. BTW, are going to GenCon this year?

  • Comment removed

  • Damn you are excited! I should try this game out.

  • Great review, as usual!

I have tried Rippers myself and I 100% Agree with you!
