great man...and thanks to david cook... season after this american idol became more n more excited and in the same time it is difficult for a new talent to shown up...what i'm trying to say is,american idol trying to find unique n creative new talent and not just a powerful voice..u need extraordinary talent to win this whole things..thanks david..u are such a powerful influence.

best season for talent, especially in the final 2 archie clearly had a better vocal, but cook was more contemperary, plus i think if archie had won he wouldnt have provided as spectacular of a winning moment as cook did, they were both very talented it didnt matter who won they were each as deserving as the other, this was one idol where america couldnt go wrong!

David Cook is a great guy, but this result was just flat out wrong. David Archuleta was then and still is the best singer on the planet., and cannot possibly finish second to anyone in a singing competition.

@blisskasden Well, obviously Archuleta DID finish second to someone in a singing competition. You're entitled to your opinion, but it's my opinion that you are absolutely wrong. Archie has a wonderful voice, but so does David Cook. And he won by a large margin, so you are clearly in the minority.

@kcdshg Archie's 3 performances in the finale should have won him the crown. The voting is not based soley on singing talent, as was proven the year Taylor Hicks won. It's all good, though. The true test takes place after the show ends, and both guys are doing fine. Cook is outstanding in the own right, and remains popular today, as does Archie.

What kills me about watching this is that clearly DC had NO CLUE he would win. He had resigned himself to the fact that Archie would win, heavens knows why, but he had. If you watch an interview TV Guide Channel did with the Idol Vocal Coach, that fact becomes very apparent, also explains David's initial "non-reaction", almost like he thought that he heard something other than his name...

David so graciously took care of Archie, made sure that he got his due respect, before he allowed himself to fall apart. I love how he is so thoughtful...I probably would have forgotten David A was even there, being so caught up in myself and my own emotions.... MY MOMENT! David didn't....he pulled himself together, applauded Archie and waited until he made his exit from the stage, THEN he fell apart! I've always said, that David has such a sweet and gentle spirit , and I love and respect him

I believe Season 7 has been the best season yet, especially the finale. What a program! And what can I say about DC; he's my favorite AI, not only because of his talent, but because of the wonderful human being he is. I've never seen so much happiness and satisfaction in the faces of the other contestants after a result... that says a lot about DC. Pretty emotional, too!
