I know that I also got the Blade Runner soundtrack { which am a very big fan and still watch ( movie ) and listen to the ( cd ) from time-to-time } but as I said if you watch that specific scene, you can clearly hear the familiar synth beats from OMD's first track which is Junk Culture ( also cd title ) that I also like very much.
their last decent record. after this they gave up and moved into ditty land. Their best record(s) was the close duo of Architecture and Morality and Dazzle Ships. The earlier stuff was great, but immature. After AaM and DS they just made pop bilge.
Wow, listening to this again, it could almost appear on Saint Etienne's Foxbase Alpha (1991), with a touch of Bowie's album Low thrown in, plus something vaguely Japanese....
Moody, quirky opening track to a stunning album... probably my favourite by this stellar, massively underrated group. (I prefer other tracks on Junk Culture, though, to be honest.)
I just gotta know... seen the Bladerunner movie again and I am pretty sure "Junk Culture" by OMD was being played in the background on that scene were Harrison Ford went to that bar looking for the first replikant ( lady with the snake... ), am I right?
Not saying it's impossible but Blade Runner was a summer 1982 release meaning that scene was probably cut in Fall of 1981 - 3 years before the commercial release of this track (although it could have hit the circuit many years prior to release)

@metring073 I think the entire Blade Runner soundtrack was by Vangelis.
