All of these things gave us great hope yet the public never got to see those pics, Apollo was canceled and we never landed on Mars. For someone to land on the Moon in 1969, we should have been landing on Jupiter by now...This is a grave travesty....
Viking was on its way to photograph a giant stone face in the Cydonia region that would thereafter be hidden, denied, ridiculed, and ignored. Perhaps if a privately funded manned Mars mission takes place we the people MIGHT get to find out more about the Egyptian like structures of Mars that includes pyramids as well as the Sphinx like face.
That would be great and I see that happening. However, I can't shake the feeling that some type of "accident" would prevent that non-NASA trip to Mars.
So, you trust implicitly the first images NASA puts out, but you don't trust the high-res images it puts out later because they happen to contradict the low resolution images. That, um, yeah, wow.
And I suppose that YOU find absolutely NOTHING suspicious whatsoever about N.A.S.A. avoiding the Cydonia region like the plague despite multiple landings?
They're looking for signs of life but they wont investigate Pyramids and a human face?
By "Avoid Like the Plague" I have to assume you're not counting the Global Surveyor, Reconnaissance Orbiter, Mars Express probe ALL taking hi res images of Cydonia. So, no, I don't find anything suspicious about not landing at an unremarkable site that looked like a face in a 30 year old photo.
I find it awesome how you trust NASA's old probe, but not it's new ones. You think an international conspiracy exists, but that they weren't smart enough not to release the face in the first place.
You know, I think it would be more remarkable that there was a multinational conspiracy to hide evidence of artificial structures on Mars than the fact that such structures existed at all.
Artificial monuments would be interesting, but further probes discounted the idea. By the way, you're behind on your conspiracies. The current theory on the face-on-Mars movement is that NASA nuked the site from orbit.
It seems likely that you just can't handle the truth. It makes your world more mundane.
Whether there is A theory,(current or not) that NASA nuked the MARS from orbit that DOESNT make it true.
Similarly just because NASA says the monuments are tricks of light and shadow THAT isn't necessarily true.
You say a multi-national conspiracy(Are there photos debunking the Cydonia region from other countries NOT going through NASA?)would be more remarkable than artificial structures but I disagree as would most others.
ok, the guy 2:53 has got to be the poster boy for mid 70's nerd fashion :) I MEAN WOW!

The scientist's hair isn't real. It covers his Martian antennae. They're conspiring to hide the truth and govern our planet! Arghhuhhhaaaa!

Yes, in reality Mars has a blue sky, vegetation, lakes, and breathable air.

The canals of Mars supposedly are subway tubes according to Paranoia Magazine.

High resolution pictures aren't your friend, are they?

Not altered ones, no.

Regardless of who the conspirators are or their purpose, mistakes occasionally DO happen.
The TRICK is to cover up the mistakes (I.E. The TRUTH) so that people like YOU will be deceived into defending the NEW version.
Unremarkable?
Egypt on Mars is unremarkable?
What pray-tell is so remarkable about the locations they chose INSTEAD OF Cydonia?
Oh yes, the possibility of frozen water underground!
MUCH more intriguing than the possibility of artificially constructed monuments!
