@dburford9 A bit late to change them now. I filmed some of the stations in Moscow which you can see on this channel. The stations there are works of art!
Thankyou, I was a Station controller at Canary wharf for a few years between before i left in 2006. The announcement you heard was a pre recording i made back in 2005. My colleagues at the time kept it so they could remember me. Sentimental bunch. Canary Wharf is an amazing station and even more so behind the scenes of what is seen by the traveling public. For example, in one of the rooms deep below the station is a full mock up of the platform edge doors used for training new staff!
@DEVOS1778 Thanks for the interesting comment. A couple of years ago I met someone who worked for the PR dept. at LT and who offered to do a tour around some of the more interesting behind the scenes activities. Did not have the chance to take him up on it though!!
As i now live in Canada I can't really comment on what the current recruitment rate is. However, if you go to the London Underground website that should give you a link. There is a 3 stage process to go through. Only a small percentage of those who apply to the underground actually get a job there. Ssying that it rerally is a great career opportunity for a person willing to put in the effort. Good Luck
Canary Wharf itself takes its name from No. 10 Warehouse (30 Shed) of the South Quay Import Dock. This was built in 1952 for Fruit Lines Ltd, a subsidiary of Fred Olsen Lines for the Mediterranean and Canary Island fruit trade.
I remember London from my childhood. The last time I was in London was 1980. I would not recognize the city now. Looks so modern. The same with your videos of Warsaw. Thanks for sharing your videos!
that looks a nice clean modern underground station, but i never knew just how steep and long those escalators are!

Very nicely done, Alan. The station and line are as nice as Washington's Metro.

In 1980 this area was a right mess. The Jubilee line extension plus the Dockland's Light Railway are amazing.
