Bret never said he wouldnt lose the title - he actually encouraged Vince to let him drop it to an up and comer instead of sticking with the old guard. He just didnt want to lose it in canada

Bret agreed to job at wrestlemania 1996 and teh deal was that shawn would job at wrestlemania 1997 to bret !! come wrestlemania shawn said he "lost his smile" and left the wwf so that he wouldnt job to bret and relenquished (sp) the title! come survivor series 97 it was shawns time to job to bret as the deal was. bret had four more weeks left on his contract and told vince that he will drop the title to shawn or anyone else the very next night on raw. vince AGREED.

i don't give a tiny rats ass about what happened at the 1997 survivor series anymore. i was mad about it 11 years ago, just like everyone else. but now its just ridiculous to still have ill feeling towards the WWE, Vince, HBK and HHH. Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge Hitman fan; always will be. All I'm saying is what;s the point of getting all jacked up over something that happen a decade ago.

Bret was going to WCW. Vince asked Bret to drop the title to Shawn, but Bret refused. So when it comes to SS'97, there was no other choice but to screw him over. If anybody can refined or add to this, then that will be great.

HBK is a prick for this though as Bret can never come back, he suffered a stroke when he took a kick from goldberg in WCW. Bret is not in any pain but HBK is still stomping on a legend's grave.
