  • Barney stinson Knows what music is!

  • Esta muy chingona la segunda mitad de la canción.

  • Drummer = paul rudd

    Rythym guitar = james hetfeild

    Bass = freddie mercury

  • @masterbob234 Lead guitar=David Spade

  • EPIC AT 6:58

  • Horrible timing by the audience how sad

  • No sense of timing from the audience

  • Dennis come back to Styx!! Tommy let Dennis back in STYX!!!!! PLEASE LOOK HOW AWSOME THIS CONCERT WAS !!!

  • Great video minus the audience trying to clap along haha

  • This is fantastic, and a great response from the Japanese audience! And a good light show also! ☼♥☼

  • 3:13 Wow, their bass player looked like Freddie Mercury.

When I graduated from HS this song was played after the ceremony as we went out hootin and hollerin. Of course it's been played at every reunion along with other period mid to late 70's music.

  • 6:52 ive never seen that much determination in my life

  • I was there in `82 - I wish I would`ve stopped time. magic.

  • saw them live with my girlfriend my first year of college when they were opening for def leppard

  • I remember reading about them in magazines like Kerrang in the 80´s and couldn´t really understand it - to me there´s nothing heavy metal about them, they´re more like Lloyd Webber with more guitars. JY is trying hard to keep up the ROCKER element with his long hair and rough voice, but I don´t think that glittery top he´s wearing in this clip does much for his hard guy persona. They had some fantastic songs though, especially Tommy Shaw´s.

  • The bassist looks like Freddie Mercury.

  • wow its even better live!

  • @LHat99zz Look for the 1996 live version, that one kicks ass too

  • Whenever I hear this song I think of the show Freaks and Geeks. Best/ most underrated show from the 90s in my opinion!

  • @PatrickMc1nerney Yes! Couldn't agree more. This song is amazing on it's own too!

  • There were such unique personalities in this band -- Dennis was the uppity white guy who acted snobby......Tommy Shaw was like the little runt who tried extra hard to prove himself......James Young was the long-haired rocker dude.......and the bass player and drummer were the nerdy quiet types

  • @khunopie No, that's JY-- James Young, LOL.

  • this song makes me happy so so happy

  • the song was originally released in 1979,if i'm not mistaken here.

the song is about the "Aliens " arrived already here in our planet

long time ago, then once again they been visited us to give us more

" technology ". [accept it or not ]

  • Dennis de Young has an amazing voice. Freddie Mercury had just as an amazing voice. yet when Dennis had a 'stash it was cool, when Freddie had one it was gay. I don't care. They were both great singers and I will never forget what they brought to my music!!

  • I went to high school with this music. Sad to see it's not the norm anymore.

  • @Keefer1958

    I Miss The 80's

  • Great Guitar Solo at 6:00

  • is it just me or is Tommy crying or about to cry at 6:52 ?

  • Cartman forever!

  • One of my all time favorite Styx tune! Such a good time in music........

  • Right on!!!!!

  • i must concur with natagaima. goosebumps.....pure epic!

  • Classic Rock!!

  • This song gives me the goose bumps

  • Styx Forever!

  • Simply CLASSIC!

  • Even after all this time, over three decades later, this number by Styx is still a waaaaaaaaaaay ultra-ultra-cool classic rock cosmic mind-odyssey

  • Thats it! Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeees!

  • hell yeaaaaaaaah

  • this has got to be one of the best songs in the world this is epic

  • Had never discovered this song if it wasn't for South Park

  • luv it

  • This is amazing, I don't know if there are christian undertones but I don't even care, that is EPIC!!

  • Cartman's version is bttr but this1 is cool to.. some ppl like this one more.. i like cartman's more.. all ur own choise..

  • lol.. nerd get a life..

  • loser

  • It's never been better!!

  • Doesn't John Panozzo look like Neal Schon here?

  • :O he kinda does...wonder if Neal's seen this video?

  • Great song...they never get the credit they deserve...I just can't figure out why bands like Styx, Journey and REO get ripped by the so called...experts...true rock

  • this is the man who wrote it, and south park ruined this song, i hope the young people of america will never see that again....

  • Above all the song is great !

I don't think that South Park ruined the song. You may think that way if you hate South Park.I find South park as a genius masterpiece and Eric Cartman sing this song of hope... (:sweeeeeeeeeeet:)

And of course that america will see that again, you have it here on you tube, check it out ;) :PPP

  • cartman rules

  • cool napoleon dynamite on the guitar

  • linda canción ;)

  • totally agree, this new Styx is practically a cover band. Look at DeYoung jump off that piano and tell him he's not a rocker. It's HIS band.

  • let's be honest, that outro solo starting at 5:48 was pretty miserable... rest of the song was good, but i could've improvised a better solo than that... are this guys solos always this scattered and unmelodic?

  • this song is awesome, its really great, but

you are right on this :D

  • well its tommy shaw, what do acpect? a GOOD gutair solo?

  • lol

  • de young is my inspiration....

  • I would disagree with that statement. Dennis DeYoung isnt the rocker in the band he always wants the theatrical shows where JY and TS are rockers.Larry Gowan IMO is better in the band. Check him out on I dont need no Dr. he rocks.

  • Dennis DeYoung Rules!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • hmm...so yeah when you go to a gig you just sit there stoneyfaced, occasionally jumping a little bit..then at the end of the set you stand there without clapping so the band thinks that wherever you were was the worst place to play a gig.....not really likely to happen is it? eeejit

  • Budokan is in tokyo Japan in the city of Chiyoda

  • awsome song!

    awsome歌!

    somethings stay the same...

all I want to do is sail away,

    you coming?

  • yes i want to explore another world

sail away from my life and the problems

    be free ^^

  • 武道館公演のStyxですね

    貴重なLivefilm

    domoarigatto!

  • just ignore the clappin' and try to focus on the instruments....

  • wtf is with the clapping?! It fucking sounds awful

  • the people clapping ruin the song, it sounds gross

  • in terms of skill, j.y. is b better then tommy shaw

  • In my opinion I think Styx and Boston were kind of alike. I mean they both kind of used the organ and they just have that same style of playing. In other words I think Styx is a great band!

  • just love seeing that panozzo drumming... rip

  • Love it, just love it. One of the best songs ever!

  • k tal grupazo E S P E C T A C U L AR !!!!!!

GUITAR SOLO TOMMY SHAW IS FANTASTIC

  • You are definately correct and it is a shame. They were awesome back in the mid 80s when I saw them in jax florida. Have heard lately that they just do not sound good anymore so I will keep the memory of the old VH concerts I saw back then.

I do wish dennis could return to styx tho. I think they would sound just like the old styx because i have seen them many times over the years and they always put on a great show. No disrespect to gowan but would love to see them re-unite...

  • thankyou tommy for the memories

  • i like this song too

  • i love this song :D

  • Best, Best group ever. Greatest songs ever. No one can compare, especially with todays artists.

  • Best group ever is a bold statement... great song though.

  • the dude on the far right stayed on pitch the whole time, and is a KILLER guitar player!!

  • Who? Tommy Shaw? Yeah. He's a supurb musician/guitarist/song writer/mandolin player/keyboardist/pianist/singer. Lol. I'm also astonished that Gibson hasn't made him a signature guitar yet.

  • The most underestimated song ever

The only time i heard of it was from a south park episode

  • Nice

  • one of my top 10 favs all time!!!

  • a great song to help ya wind down after a long day, no?

  • awesum song. 2 bad dennis cant prefor anymore.

    keep rockin/

  • Dennis performs all the time, just not with STYX

  • dennis is the name of the guy who is singing?

  • Yes. Yes indeed. :-)

  • why is the audience clapping like that? idk its just weird cause its such a soothing song

  • magnifico!

  • awesome!

  • Brilliant Video. "Yes!" *E D C... E F D C...*

  • Love DeYoung's porn mustache!

  • Intersting.... rarely see vintage performances with guys/girls wearing earplugs. As a sufferer of tinnitus (ringing in the ears)I can definitely relate to why he is wearing them !!!

  • Heh. My ears have been ringing and buzzing for 25 years, non-stop. THANK YOU ZZ-TOP! lolololol

  • Did i say I was born almost 15 years before it was written? -I meant I was born almost 15 years after it was written. LOL

  • Good Song! Even I can appreciate it...and I was born 89, more than 15 years before it was written.

  • You have your years screwed up. The song was written in 77.

  • That's why more than means more than and not exactly when.

  • haha, funny

  • What destroyed this great band was what I would call an identity crisis. DeYoung fancied stage performance while Shaw and co. held true to their rocker persona. It's a shame because man are they talented. I like Van Haggar but seriously... it doesn't hold Van Halen with DLR's jockstrap

  • dennis deyoung rules! and so does that shaw blades guy

  • i somewhat agree with the guy below me.. they do need to get dennis back.. but SAMMY HAGAR was much better with van halen

  • styx music.....soundtrack of my life

  • I've seen STYX many times and they still rock but it would be awesome if they would let dennis return.Much like VH without DLRoth but now that DLR is back with VH wouldn't it be nice if STYX were to get dennis back?Seeing Dennis when i was a teen inspired me to learn how to play keys myself and I finally got me an Oberheim obxa and ob8 just so i could get "that sound".Gowan has my respect but I like dennis better.

  • DLR is no longer cool in my book. Saw a Van Halen concert and I was appalled. Wolfgang is crap, eddie will stop playing in the middle of a song to pull his guitar cord, and DLR will look goofy and do kung-fu moves.....man i was so excited to go to the concert...

  • This is the real Styx, it is a shame what Tommy and JY are doing now, Gowan is not Dennis, and the current lineup is no more than a cover band in my opinion.

  • Chuck is just as much a part of this lineup. Can't remember Gowan saying he is Dennis. How is Dennis doing these songs not considered covers? It goes both ways.

  • I agree , Chuck is part of the lineup, my mistake. There would be no Styx without Dennis, this is my opinion.I did not say Gowan said he was trying to be like Dennis,I think he does on ok job of Dennis's songs,I guess it would be like Rod Stewart being the lead singer of Aerosmith, Rod is a great singer...but....

  • Anyone read on Wikipedia how they basically wrote Dennis out of the band due to his medical condition?

  • It was much deeper than that.

  • Did you know that the contents of what you read on Wikipedia is posted by anyone who owns a computer? It should never be relied as concrete "facts". In Styx's case there is way more to it than that. Get the book "The Grand Delusion", it will explain all and is very interesting reading.

  • no your basically right although they were haveing disbutes and they used the ilness as the final straw i guess so they kicked him out adn then he sued them and stuff its very interesting

  • Great song :]

  • AWESOME .WOW !!!

  • Pause the video at 3:15, and Chuck looks exactly like Freddie Mercury in '86.

  • looks sorta like him , you can throw on a mustache with any dark haired man and call him freddie.

but good job pointing that out =]

  • Oh gosh,he does!Weird!Haha.

  • wow he does

  • TA GUENO

  • Thanks for putting this up. I saw Styx live around this time(early 80's) brings back great memories

  • August 24 W Def Leppard and The Foriegners Tampa, FL hell yea.

  • Saw them already and its not "The Foriegners", It's Foreigner.

  • Great AMERICAN band, like everything else untill the mexican invasion destroys everything we know.

  • pfffft what!? lol
