@JoeEsus They are ICE CRYSTALS formed by plane engine exhaust water freezing because they CANNOT EVAPORATE into the -40 deg C air that they are flying through, because it already holds as much water as it can in its previously STILL condition

Now the air has been disturbedm further ice freezes out of the air around the trail and it RAPIDLY GAINS WEIGHT

The trail then takes about TWO HOURS falling out of the stratosphere and evaporates in the warmer air lower down

End of story...
