  • Hi Amelia! I had my surgery October 7th 2010, I hope you'll still be able to answer me! But I just found out I have an ulcer too! I found out in Dec. 3rd now another month has gone by and I'm having the stomach pains again! My doctor just changed my antacid but the pain is awful!!! What happen with you? Did the ulcer go away with your medications?

  • Nice to see you smiling in this video and upbeat altough you have an ulcer. I admire you.

  • no big deal, I had that test done 7 times and they did it to me once without the anestesia.

  • Do they know why you got the ulcer?

  • my endoscopy was the same way

  • kdkdkkdkd

  • I'm glad you finally have a diagnosis! You have such pretty kitties!

  • Thank you for your response. I had an exray this morning and it showed an indention in the esophagus and the doctor thought there could be a possible little ulcer there. He gave me a prescription for it so it should help and correct itself. I told a couple of friends about you and they are watching you as well and are very pleased with your help. Keep up the good work and you look absolutely beautiful. You should be so proud of yourself. People think gastric bypass is easy but it's not.

  • Oh my gosh! So sorry to hear you have an ulcer but glad it's going to be ok:)

Those are some serious horse pills - are you crushing or cutting them in half?

Keep up the awesome work Amelia & thank you for your videos.

    hugs

  • no, they actually crumble very quickly so i swallow them whole. I fill my mouth with water drop the pill in, let it fall to the back of my throat and.. Gulp. I have chocked it up once and tasted it crumble so i am more careful now

  • I am sorry you have had so much trouble. You look and sound great now! Take good care of yourself.

  • Amelia, you ROCK! Thanks so much for documenting & sharing your story, including the plastic surgery. I hope the ulcer heals quickly. Your hair looks GREAT! & I would not have known you didn't have makeup on if you haven't said so. Do you think all the surgeries and everything you've been through with the Gastric Bypass....NOW looking back has it been worth it all???

  • Absolutely, I wouldn't take the Gastric Bypass back for nothing! It is important to know that complications still CAN happen even if you do EVERYTHING right

  • Hi Amelia, love your videos. I watch them all the time. I am two weeks out from surgery and am starting to have "real food" but the problem, I keep vomiting. Did you have this problem too?

  • you need to slow down and reduce the portion, vomiting is a sign you are over-doing it

  • Glad you are ok! I'm 7 months out, and have probably seen all of your videos. I log on you tube every week just to see what you and Divataunia are up to! Take care!

  • Does your insurance pay for each time you have to go to the ER?

  • yes, but it is a hefty co-pay

  • I like how the cat just wander around in different videos, whats the name ?

  • the beige cat is Bianca and the gray one is Moxie

  • wow sorry to hear about the ulcer that sucks...at least u know now what the problem was. i will be making a video tomorrow with an announcement of my own. u look great by the way. much love miguel.

  • im so glad you got a diagnosis... but its scary.. not knowing. Im totally impressed with you Amelia. I watched your videos from start to end... and I really feel like I got a lot out of them. ( im 3 weeks post op ) And I cant wait to get to where you are!

  • Your too funny about the forgetting parts...love your vids!

  • Glad to hear you have an answer!

  • you look great, sorry to hear you been having hard time, hope everything is ok at the moment.

  • I've watched you for over a year and I don't think I can remember a time when at least one of your kitties wasn't in th vid.

  • Versed is a amnesic. So you were awake, but sedated, during the procedure.

I also have a ulcer. Im on protonix 2 x day. I feel worse sometimes when I drink ice tea or wine. Coffee seems ok though.

    Paula

  • ...and it's pretty funny that Moxie & Bianca have their own twitter account!

  • i had to watch the video again just to see the diff of the sun coming up - LOL. I'm really happy to hear that you are "ok", even if an ulcer means "ok". btw - you are MEAN to shake the pill bottle - my cat would be annoying the crap out of me until I gave her a treat if I did that :)

  • Don't u hate that I have had alot of endoscopy's done since my surgery & I hate not remembering parts of the day. The horse pills are cipro aren't they? They put me on them but they made me sick!! Glad you doing better!

  • They gave me Protonix and Carafet

  • Carifait that's what i was on. my daughter is on cipro. im trippin. Ya they made me really nauseous. It was ok in pill form but when i started taking it in liquid i got real sick!

  • i am glad ur ok

  • glad they found what was wrong. your kitties are adorable and you look great without makeup--lucky!

  • damn

  • Hi this is soo of your subject but ... I can't help but wondering if you were still using rogaine for your hair loss cause your hair has gotten fuller since the last time i've been on. Can you tell me what else you have been doing cause i'm 5 mos out and my hair is coming out like CRAZY !!! PLEAZZZZ let me know ASAP !!!

  • Yeah the rogaine is good and I keep using it so I don't lose it!

  • glad that everythings is ok, i love your cats.

  • Glad you are doing better, Amelia! Will the ulcers hopefully dissipate with time and the medication? Do they know what caused them? (i.e., do you take aspirin or Ibuprofin-type for pain much?). I ask because I had a bleeding ulcer and was pretty bad off.. for me it was my taking 2 aspirin before bed each night. I have pain, so I took it. They did that camera down the throat thing to, too.. no drugs, because of my size (worried about complications). Ok! Glad you're home and happy! xo Julie

  • Don't know why, i don't take any NSAIDS like asprin or ibuprofen. The medication will heal the ulcer

  • could be bacterial, from H. pylori

  • ouch! glad you're doing better and know whats up.. gotta love the kitties! :) take care, sarah. :D

  • So glad you found out what was wrong. Has the pain subsided now they got you on meds? Get well soon. Cute kitties. I have 2 as well Sandee shes my golden baby girl and Bear hes solid black. Sandee is 8months Bear 7months, there a riot together. Anywho hope ya get to feeling better. take care.

  • the pain hasn't subsided yet, but will soon

  • Well ulcers are no fun, but at least they didnt have to open you up and repair anything. I hope the meds work soon, and you have a fast recovery! ☮

  • Hey Ms. Amelia I remember my pre wls endoscope the nurse made a rude comment that she would have to give me more sedation because I was fat...I was out before she finished pushing in half of the syringe! Woke up and did not remember a thing I had the rude nurse, doctor and another couple of nurses trying to get me awake they said I was highly sensitive to the meds. Big dummy me went back to work after that I felt lost...LOL. Good to hear your feeling better!!

  • Glad you are feeling better these days!

  • WTF? you have to stop getting sick lady! love ur cats, and i just wanted to tell you i am never bored watchin ur vids!

  • OH I'm so glad they found out what is wrong, an ulcer isn't fun, but I'm so glad you don't have to go through another operation and it's not something life threatening! I hope the docs will help you with this and you'll feel better soon!!

  • Hey Amelia! So sorry about your problems... This might sound funny, but - I noticed that you keep pulling your shirts out like we do when we are fat... lol - uno what i mean? but you are too beautiful now... and even then. you look good girl!!! love the shirt...

  • old habits die hard huh? Thank you!

  • Hehehe, the same thing happened to me at my endoscopy -- apparently I had the exact same conversation with the nurse 3 times. I only remember the 3rd time and my dad inexplicably laughing himself silly. :-)

I've been having problems with never-ending burping after meals and now I'm taking cytotec, which is a coating, anti-ulcer drug (maybe the same one you're taking now). And it's totally working against the burping! So weird.

Ulcers and peterson's hernias are big problems in our community.

  • Soooo glad you are going to be better. Luv from Hilton Head....

  • I'm so glad that you finally found out what was wrong. I had been praying for you. i have gone through so much. Good. to hear it. Now you can take care of it. Take car Amelia

  • wow...sorry to hear you have a ulcer:(now does this means no more mexican food?or anything hot...or do even like hot food..?Hope you get better soon! Love that hoodie sweatshirt..

  • No ulcer will kill my love for salsa..LOL

  • i remember watching the TV of my colonscopy but all i remember of the upper GI, was them turning the table and a voice saying swallow. then they were waking me up. I got home feeling fine then zonked out for like 16 hours!

Thanks for the reminder of the protonix. I needed to get my refill like 5 days ago...LOL. I have it now. I take 40mg twice daily for my Gastritis with hemorrhage. Fun fun. Have a speedy recovery girl!

  • Well, I guess compared to what you went through last time, an ulcer isn't so bad...but I think it's time for you to get a break, don't you?

Hope you're feeling better soon, those meds usually kick in pretty quickly, so you should be!!

  • I've never seen an ulcer before. Glad your feeling better!!!!!

  • Well, an ulcer doesn't seem too bad, I guess it could have been worse, right? =) Anyway.. the drugs apparently worked, you still look a little ' wee ' heheh. Glad you're okay. Nice job on the pics... I've never seen an ulcer before and now I know what one looks like ;)

  • So glad to hear that you don't have to go through another operation. What a funny story about the memory loss. I have to take Prevacid once a day for a year since my operation to try to prevent ulcers from forming. Did you have to take this at all?

  • I am so glad you are okay.....does anyone know what happened to DestinationOC???? I have not been on here in a while and all of the sudden she is gone!

  • Glad to hear no surgery needed! And cute hoodie!

  • Well i'm glad you did go to the ER and that it's something you can easily take care of..good to see you back to your old self!!-Gerene

  • Wonderful news, girl. I was worried. Hope from here on in "everything" is uneventful, and you can go back to leading a normal existence. Hope that normal existence continues to include your listening audience, because I find a lot of encouragment in your videos. Take care.

  • Hi Amelia!

I don't know where my earlier comments went but I just wanted you to know that you've been inspirational to me concerning my own gastric bypass surgery which was done on April 20th. Watching your videos took my fear away. Thanks.

  • Amerlia,

I've had an ulcer ever since right before my rny so I have to get scoped every few months. I take carafate and prevacid it. Just avoid the spices and tomato products and it should heal pretty easily for you :)

  • Hey Amelia.

So, is this ulcer considered a complication of gastric bypass? Also, how are you taking those pills? Are you crushing them or swallowing them whole? Do they fill up your whole pouch?

Sorry for all the questions. Just trying to figure out what I'm getting myself into.

    Thanks!

    Jennifer

  • ugh your so lucky... when i got a scope they never gave me anything it was the most uncomfortable thing ive ever felt.

  • yeah it was easy breazy, sorry yours was hell

  • glad to hear they found what was wrong and started your treatment... you look like you are feeling better, so that is good!

  • Glad you found out what was going on... hopefully those horse pills & the other ones work for you... Do they know what caused the ulcer at all or are they assuming/guessing what caused it? Love the sweatshirt cute!! Kids love the cats said they are adorable!!
