  • wow what a jerk, "pathetic"?...I love how on the internet lets chair jockeys that would never say a thing if you could get them by the throat grow a couple, geez, but rat own, he's already got his brain wired, I bet he'll be giving you a run for your money soon Dad ;)

  • what was the song being played?

  • haha - that's pretty cool man.

Adults like trecoolmania are unimpressed and frustrated by the idea that even a child can learn good timing and technique, to the point where they'll just recognize it as 'unreal and pathetic".

It's all good Tre, maybe Rock Band for lame-box is more your speed.

  • Your a great Dad!I'm not just talking drums,Just being involved,To people like me and you,its just normal to be involved with our kids,But to the people that doesnt get involved,This is what parents do! And to TRECOOLMANIA,STFU,LOOSER!

  • Very nice! Proud Dad at worst. Too bad the teacher had to X-plain that kid kicks ass. Keep up the groove that was awesome.

  • Love it!!!

  • hes going to get soo much pussy!

  • @sephphy Thats the downfall to success. Every great thinker in history lost everything over pussy. Just let him have fun. I really haven't had fun since pussy! LOL!

  • Well I have had a drum set for a little over a year...Im ok at it just needed a dad like you to grow up with so i can get SUPER good at it

  • i started when i was 3. but of course by the time i was his age i still wasn't that good haha. But i'm 13 now and i consider myself in general a good drummer!

  • Wish my dad coulda taught me drums when I was growing up. He has never touch a drum kit. :(

  • well go to a music store and ask if you can try a drum set;-)

  • among the legends

  • he's already better than half the drummers i know.

  • very cool...i wish i started that young i would be so much better now

  • i know its ment to be a compliment to this kid, but perhaps you thinking that way is STILL the reason why you havent gotten any better ;)= just saying :P im sure you can do it if you put your mind into it.

  • yeah man i get what your saying.....i am actually progressing pretty fast tho and usually evertime i practice i learn something new but what i meant is that if i started that young by now i would have the skill that only comes with years of experience.

  • When you put it that way, it sounds different from what you said the first time, and then i must add that i agree with you! Its good to hear that youre progressing fast and that your learning something new every time! thats the way its supposed to be you know ;) Cheers!

Btw, i didnt realise that this kid was mr. Vanz kid. hehehe Kewel

  • Thank-you Mis-ter Van Pat-ten.

  • Nice posting Randy - his sticks look almost as long as him. Where did he get his good looks - his Mom must be really pretty LOL.

  • Nice job Randy, and nice job to your kid! I couldn't quite make out the name, I thought I heard Jonas somewhere?

  • when i have kids, im gonna start teaching them as early as possible.. haha. sweet video dude he learns from the best XD

  • You looked really proud of your boy, Randy.

He was really rockin out and having a ball.

With your help i am teaching my 6yr old grandson and 7 yr old grandaughter, they love it.

  • He learns from the best!

  • Haven't really taught him anything.

  • He sounds great! I can't get mine to play the skins at all, I'm very depressed.

    Rock on Lil Van!!

  • Yeah, I can understand that. When they're that young I guess you just let them do their own thing on the set, until they get older. He's definitely got the musical genes from you though!

  • looks like a drum protege' in the making

  • dude is going to own sooo hard once he grows up

  • Your son owns! lol those guys were clapping offbeat anoying :(

  • they're in first grade!! of course they'll be off-beat! come on, man!

  • I'm so hoping that when I do have kids that at least one of them takes after mom and gets on the drums!

And its so cool that they let him come play for his classmates..he did great!

  • That's great!

Nice job, Dad. Now he'll have all the girls chasing him.........

in the end, although i saw the video was about to end, i wanted you to just go all out on the drums infront of the kids when you put ur leg on the stool.

    vanzdrumming com

  • haha, i wanted the same thing.

    great kid "Mr. Van Patten"!

    he's gonna be amazing.

  • Kudos to a proud dad!

  • Sir, you have my utmost respect for having your child learn an instrument at such a young age. He's gonna be an AMAZING drummer. And seems to already be really good for his age.

  • the kids better than me! i hope to teach my son to play some day!

  • ugh i HATE electrical kits. They sound so terrible but i guess you can't bring a whole drum kit in a classroom.

  • yeah true

  • I was going to. I brought just the snare and it was sooooo loud in that room that the whole kit would have killed the kids ears. RVP

  • inpiring video Van. i like it

  • you should've taught him your bonham-triplet lesson - that would definitely have scored him an A in the class

  • awesome!

  • hah cool!

  • ahaha sick

  • wawzerrss awesomeness

  • Wow, he's only in first grade? his style of playing is clean already!

  • ATTA-BOY!

Great job. Beat those skins! Swing those hats!

  • Great :D

  • Great Job Kid! Keep it up...and Keep on having fun drumming!

  • i like how the sticks are longer than his arms

  • nice Randy, my son's in 2nd grade and been taking lessons for 6 mos. now. he fills in on Wed nites at church, but i can't seem to get him to follow thru w/ his fills like your son. he does great at home, but freaks when it's time to really do it

  • Tyler will be great drummer in the future like his dad, congratulations. By the way awesome video. Thanx for sharing.

  • he's good

  • Very cool but did you sell any DVD's to the kids ???

  • Heylo... I wish I started at that age! He's pretty good.. most kids that age don't know how to keep to the beat...Gud job!

  • This is very very sweet. simply FANTASTIC.....

SOo you are a proud DAD.....haha......

    Thanks..........

  • Heck yeah!

  • Really cool how you contribute to the community like that, and how you introduce kids to drumming and everything.

I bet he'll be one heck of a drummer when he becomes a teen.

Can't help but think that if any other person would have posted this the kid would get flamed on =/ Which is a shame because talent like this should be supported. Keep them coming Mr van Patten!

  • awesome :D

congrats to your son, i hope he continues playing to become a drummer like his father :D

  • preppy schools FTW.

  • It's not a prep school. In Florida they all wear uniforms.

  • its funny how he finnish the song and went straight to his buddy...

  • Sweet, he's good.

Btw what is that set of drums? Is it the roland TD-12?? thanks :)

  • It may be a td-9sx with an extra cymbal and tom pad... i like it, kids got talent keep the vids coming!

  • Yup

  • haha, brilliant!

  • he just left right after playing

    i like this attitude

  • hahaha! Look at the black kid in the red... He's probably thinking... "cracker ain't got shit on me."

  • The best part is... I have taught him nothing. He has done all of this on his own. I am about to start working with him. 7 yrs old is a great age to start.

Thanks for all the great comments. RVP
