  • omg i remember crying when i saw this ep

  • This scene was the first time I ever cried in an anime... Clannad was sad, Angel Beats was sad, but this is depressing... Couldn't stop thinking about this for a very long time...

  • actually i hate makoto at first then i love her ever since i know she's a fox

  • :'(

  • i noticed...at first there was grass, but when makoto dies snow is on da ground

  • @tabtttth313 She wanted spring right :( so.........

  • many ppl just hate characters that annoy them i will never be one of them i only hate the antagonists

  • can't..... stop..... the tears........

    T____T

  • What is this from?? :'( it's rly sad :'O

  • This was so sad, it make me it cry, something very, very difficult. DAMN Jun Maeda, making big men cry since 1999.

  • I love this so much better dubbed.

  • the only scene in history to ever make me truly cry ;~;

  • @Lugiaskr wait till you see clannads "ushios death"

  • @majinjardock i saw that ;3;

  • what's wrong with makoto? why did she die? and is she like a kid in an adults body or something?

  • @warhawk9566 actually she was a fox in a human form. before that when yuichi is small, he found a injured orphant fox and he treat that fox until its well again, he read a book when the fox is sick. and after a while, the fox become attach to him and like to be together with him. and one day yuichi's parents make decision to move to another place and they cant keep their pet together. and yuichi leave that fox alone in the forest. because of the strong desire to be together with yuichi,

  • @warhawk9566 (continue) the fox take a human form so it can be together with yuichi as a human form because it knows that yuichi cant take a fox as a pet. but at first, they always have a fight and makoto doesnt realise that she was a fox herself and doesnt even know her true desire at the past.after they get along together when live in happy family at the same house, makoto starting to fell ill and lost bit by bit her ability as human and began to act like a fox slowly.

  • Have to admit, I actually liked Chris Patton's performance as Yuichi more than Tomokazu Sugita's...except in scenes involving Makoto, when Sugita remembers he's not playing the role of Kyon. Seriously, he's great here. He sounds like he's trying to sound calm and reassuring, but just barely keeping himself from completely breaking down in tears.

I don't know how he did it. I certainly didn't...

  • Idk which death was sadder, hers or ushio in clannad. :'(

  • @8townproductions spoilers lawd...

  • Yeah, I didn't fall for this scene.. I kind of didn't like her. She annoyed me. I honestly tried to force myself to like her since she seems okay.. but nah. ~_~ I guess opinions are opinions.

  • This girls is SO much better than uguu

  • @FkingJCdentonrape Lol she is called Ayu not uguu

  • this part is so sad it makes me cry all the time

  • I watched this for the first 25 seconds but I cannot go further. If I do I would have to see Makoto's death which will surely bring me to tears.

  • @louismai007 Spoiler alert: there is a scene just after with her and piro, so it seems like she's only presumed dead.

  • @JuJu84B No that was what he hoped happened she really is dead.

  • this, clannad and air...they all made me cry :'( Hina-chan's death in Rozen Maiden Traumend made me cry as well. I also cried when Keichii died in an episode of Higurashi Kai :'( so many sad animes out there.

  • First time I ever cried watching an anime. Makoto was such a tragic character in much the same way as Mr. Freeze from Batman.

  • Auu

  • Cried like a little girl.

  • T.T i cried my eyes out when she died.....sooooo sad! she reminds me of another character from another sad series i watched. i cried pretty hard during that one too. wow why am i so drawn to animes like these?

  • saddest part when "Winter Fireworks" started playing at 0:43. Also make me remember Yuuichi and Makoto reading her favorite manga, and stated she wanted to marry Yuuichi

  • The first time I had ever cried on an anime. This series, along with Clannad, has broken my heart and super glued it soooo many times. But out of the two series, Makoto is and will always be the saddest and best for me.

  • let me cry first... so pity makoto.... DX

  • What exactly did I just watch? Why'd she disappear?

  • @HazerWITHTHElazeR watch from ep 1-10 you will get it

  • @glubritz *nod nod* yes the run up to it is how you know the thing i find funny though is that she is in his lap right next to him right, he is looking at her, one second she's there next she is gone and yet he looks around for her oh yeah she has magical teleportation powers err no dude she has gone, however if you watch the series you'll understand this but while she has gone in a way she is still there. but maybe she was never there to go, ok can't say more or it would ruin it for others XD

  • @HazerWITHTHElazeR

    because she's not human

  • this is a sad moment... i admit i cried a lot ;( ... it really sucks when ur fav. character died... like makoto and misuzu(air) ...

  • ...I couldn't feel for this scene at all, maybe it was because of the bad noises she mad and the poor character models..

  • This one arc, out of every arc from clannad + as, air and angel beats, is the absolute best and most emotional arc ever made. Never before have i come across a show that touched me this much.

  • Oh Key you have created Angel Beats!, Clannad, and Kanon. All of which have caused me to cry. You trully are amazing.

  • :O watching Kanon, I've never been that emotional in my whole life! Kanon is so good but it's so depressing and sad at parts! Makoto was like my favorite character in Kanon! Haha, I cried allot when I was watching Kanon.

  • i hate all the main key heroins act like they downs syndrome. nagisa was a little better, but misuzu and makoto act like 3 year olds, I just cant feel sad.

  • Comment removed

  • @Lustikk

She was a fox... And she was losing her human abilities. Have you watched it ?!

  • @Lustikk Each have a reason though. Makoto was a young fox so its quite alright for her to act like a bit retarded, Misuzu was a bit out of touch with reality and Nagisa was completely unsociable until Tomoya met her.

  • She's a fox. Burn in hell, furries.

  • @RevvyHere if you're a furry for liking makoto's character, I'll gladly accept that title.

  • i remember watching this...it was almost physically painful, but i never turned it off.

  • noooooooooooo makotoooo vuelvee T_____________T!!!!

  • Is she his pet or retarded or something? is she a pokemon? I always thought the scene where Ash frees Butterfree was pretty sad.

  • @drshoggothshow wtf. lol. watch the anime, man.

  • @drshoggothshow *spoilers* Makoto was a baby fox that Yuuichi took in and looked after but when he had to go back to his own city he took Makoto back.

Yuuichi returns to the city years later and meets her again as a human.

It turns out that the hill Makoto was born on grants miracles and she was turned human so she could meet Yuuichi again but she would get ill (losing her human characteristic like speech) until she died which is this scene

  • @Adephegia So she's his pet then?

  • heeee! every one is so sad

  • is she a cat? a person? what?

  • @cheerchik311 A magical fox

  • I teared up during this part, it was that powerful and touchy, poor Makoto. DX

  • my pain is over now......i dont need to see makoto suffer (all these past episodes made me cry every little second of them)

  • Great scene from a great anime.

  • If she's dead, why does she turn up again at the end of this episode, and why does nobody talk about it? They talk about a Miracle happening, and then show this at the end:

    img714.imageshack.us/img714/710/theendf.jpg

Unless her dead body just appeared after she disappeared, which is both unnerving and nonsensical. But they don't seem to mention what happened later on in the series.

I hated how forced this felt yet how sad it made me :/

  • @MedicineMelanch0ly

Well, it looks like Ayu's last wish was to Yuichi be happy. It includes everybody come back to normal life. For example, Nayuki's mother healed, Saori healed too. Not sure about Makoto, though, still haven't watched the whole anime, just read manga.

  • @MedicineMelanch0ly Because this isn't really how the original story with Makoto goes as this is originally a VN and you'd focus on one girls story. in the anime version they work their way through every story while focusing on the main/true ending of the game. Meaning Ayus ending.

I'll not spoil the game, but if you like the anime you'll surely like the VN, and I recommend that you play it. ^^

  • @rathil

so basically the main heroine is ayu ayu??

(managed to finish mais semi sad ending and currently am doing makotos path) say in ure opinion whats bettera game shuffle or Kanon??

  • @gamer4ever9999 Basically yes, she's the main MAIN heroine.

Mai's story is amazing, I walked around feeling sad/weird/melancholic for days after I finished it.

I haven't played Shuffle, only seen the anime. But I think I'd like Kanon more, Key, and especially Jun Maeda writes absurdly good/sad stories. (Jun Maeda wrote Mai's and Makoto's arcs, the two best in my opinion)

  • @rathil

    agreed

their by far the only wo arcs that made me cry fully (well im still about to finish the mai arc soon i think im at umm cant remember)

but still i rly feel sorry for makoto AND ayu in mais story (were they vanish makoto prolly dead while ayu going off and im clueless whys that)

  • @gamer4ever9999 Why Ayu's going off? Thats because you can only play one route at a time, so Ayu, being the main heroine will tell you that she's off when you go into an arc, at that time there is no turning back (Without getting a bad end). This applies for some other characters as well; Such as Makoto who disappears so that you can no longer pursue her route.

  • @rathil

and shiorii as well (ive never met er exept twice while i was playing the mai route well nyways exactly what typa bad ending would it be for mai route??)

well anyways ima finish all the kanon routes before i turn my atention to shuffle

(the art of kanon isnt something i that much appreciate(well that is somehow))

  • Comment removed

  • @gamer4ever9999 I don't know what her bad end would be, I never got it.

Yeah, I should take my time and finish all of Kanon too, I've only played through Mai's and Makoto's entire routes. Right now I'm playing Little Busters (Also by Key, but not yet entirely translated.)

  • @rathil

litle buster.....seems like another gonna make you cry your tears out visual novel right??

  • @gamer4ever9999 Hmm, actually it isn't, so far. I haven't played much and there is only two routes translated so far, and apparently it's a freakishly long game. So I'l anxious to see what happens. :3 I'm hoping for some tearjerking moments.

  • @rathil

you serious key made a NOT gna make you cry your tears out anime????

    that cant be possible

    remember kanon

    clannad

    air...

  • @gamer4ever9999 Yup, but we'll see, maybe it gets really, really sad further into it. D:

And just pointing out that it's no anime of Little Busters out there, even if I really hope to see one made. ^^

  • @rathil

kanon was made in 1990s and annimated in 2002 remade in 2006 if we give SOME time there might be an anime for it

but the anime im hoping for isnt based off a visual novel but based of an atlus game its BADASS

and well hope so if you see a sad scene then tell me how sad is it

  • @gamer4ever9999 Wait... A Key-VN remade by atlus? if so I'm not following you. Or do you mean just an Atlus-game anime? Like Persona or Shin Megami Tensei? And so I'm just gonna go point out that there is an anime of Persona out there, even if it's not that good, in my opinion.

  • @rathil

    mhm its option 2

    and you got it BINGO

persona 3 (mangad) i expect IT to be animated

  • very sad scene :(((((((

  • wow... this is sad... =( I haven't watched Air before... And thhis scene makes me want to watch it..

  • @25Renita25

This is Kanon 2006, not Air. :S

  • @Light369 yeah but air was sad also!!!!!

  • my heart is crying T^T to be honest this anime is better then " Air Tv" (havent seen but heard ending was not good). this is a really good anime in my opinion

  • Damn this always makes me teary T^T

  • Does anybody realise the similarities of Makoto's end and the ending of Greed of Man (Cantonese drama from the 90's)?

I love both, though, but... xD

  • (this bit, as well as the white sheer material)

  • that was....SO SAAAAADDDD.

    WAHHHHHH.

    Sniff....sniff.

I am going to look this up....

    Sniff.

  • Most touching moment in an Anime I've ever seen~

  • Does anyone no the OST starting at around 00:43 ?

  • It's a remix of "Winter Fireworks".

  • What's the story behind this scene? I haven't fallowed the series too much. Is this the same "Yuichi" as the previous Kannon series. What is the connection between Kannon and Kannon 2006 besides the name? Is it kinda set up like Tenchi Muyo/Tenchi Universe/Tenchi In Tokyo?

  • It's a remake.

  • I finally noticed Makoto was in both Kanon and Kanon 2006. I was wondering why did Makoto die?

  • I can't see what I'm writing... I'm crying too much.

  • IIRC she didn't die, she just turned back to a fox. You see a fox went by really quickly in the last ep.

  • Yes... Makoto DIES.

However she gets resurrected again by Ayu's miracle at the end.

  • And that fox at the very end of this anime might not be Makoto either.. but probably the next generation of her. We never know that.

  • She dies for sure.

You know what, there are two requirements that fox changes into human being :

1). has to die out soon after. That means she has to give up her own life.

2). has to forget all the memories what happened before.

At the end of the last episode, that is the fox that is reborn after Ayu's miracles.

  • wat happened to her that made her die

  • first she didnt die just turned back into a fox and second whatever magic turned her into a human (there actually is a human yuichi knew called makoto) is running out. her magic didnt last forever.

  • this part made me cry so much. WHY DID MAKOTO HAVE TO DIE???

  • This is so heart breaking to see Makoto die and to disappear, it really bring tears to my eyes..... :(

  • I just watched this, I cried. For like three episodes, we know she's going to die, they keep giving us hope, but she dies in the end :( It was so sad when he desperately tried to make her play with that bell.

  • o really hate it when you trat to like something like romance anime that is almost always bout comedy and it has a happy pace and theme just to end it with a super sad death of one of the tow protagonist of the romance plot, there was alot of comedy leading up to this why couldn't there just be a happy slightly funny ending?

  • some people like "unexpected turn of events". it also helps you to understand that in life such turn of events are to be expected. thats one way anime can relate to real life. it has many elements of the real world mixed with the supernatural and other things.

  • i misse this show.....does any one know the name of the song that starts at 0:44

  • Fuyu no hanabi

    :D

  • your right mozanto DX !!

  • Im so sad that makoto disapear like that i wished at leass her to return in fox form and be with him after but she just....disapear THIS IS SOOOOOOO SAD T-T...Well Cya ^-^...

  • POOR MAKOTO!!!! -cries- she's my fav character. shes cute and nice. WHY DID SHE HAD TO DIE Dx

  • @lucykiller1 She didnt die.

  • @MetroBlades Makoto DIES.

There are two things that are inevitable if she turns into a human:

1). She has to lose all of her past memories.

2). She needs to give up her own life.

Time has run, and Makoto finally died. And the fox on the very last episode is the offspring of her.

  • @keykanonmania84 Doesnt that mean she's still alive? the fox? so the fox is dead her original body? and if she is dead... how about her spirit? :(

  • @MetroBlades As Mishio from the previous episodes says, the fox on the last episode symbolizes the next fox who awaits for the same love that Yuuichi has given to her, not Makoto herself.

  • @MetroBlades she didn't die?

  • Damnit, seeing that again makes me teary :<

    Poor Makoto :<

  • @splinterblade02 everytime I see this scene I need to cry especially when they are playing with the bells until she is no more (sob)
