What !, Creative writing is for poets and story tellers not teachers of the Truth. Rob is not Solomon and he sure is not Jesus Christ. As for supporting a brother in Christ, you could do the same as your comment comes off as a backhanded slap in my face - are you judging my salvation? I am judging Bells teachings not Him. As for trying to school me in the ways of vain philosophies on men, maybe you should clearly think and live it before you give advice about it.
it's amazing that people defend Bell over God all the while denying that Bell elevates people over God...I pray thatGod will give you the discernment to see that Bell is preaching "another gospel" ...
mensamaterial thank you for your defense of the Truth of God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Peace be unto you brother. I pray DRealfriknKeenan will come to know the True Christ, Jesus.
Hi DRealfriknKeenan do believe that Jesus Christ was a the son of man, and is God, born of God's Holy Spirit, walked the earth and experienced what its like to be a man, was tempted in all ways yet without sin, submitted to God the Father unto death, death on a cross and in that paid the price for our sins and is sitting at the right hand of the Father?
They have blinding faith in me that I will always take care of them and never let them down (a frightening though to say the least). One of the greatest desires I have for themselves is that aside from having faith in God, that they would have faith in themselves as well. They are not mutually exclusive. You can have faith in God, but if you lack faith in yourself then you aren't going to get anywhere because you will be crippled by fear like Peter.
Clearly you are reaching Dude. God calls us to be like him.
2 Corinthians 3:18 states "And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord's glory, are being transformed into his likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit."
Being LIKE God and being God are two totally different things. I'm wondering if you have children of your own. I myself have 5, and my sons strive to be like me. They want to do what I do and act how I act (for better or worse!).
Now we have received not s the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might understand the things freely given us by God. 13 And we impart this in words not taught by human wisdom but taught by the Spirit, interpreting spiritual truths to those who are spiritual.
As it says in the scripture you are quoting, 2 Cor 3:18, it is by God's Holy Spirit that the transformation comes from, not with in yourself my friend. Anything that points to you as having God like power apart from Him is false and is the same lie that Satan used on Eve.
Nowhere does Rob Bell claim that we are Christ at all. What he does say is that we tend to have faith in God to move, but when God asks us to move we are crippled by fear. So stop twisting what he's saying just to start an argument.
What a "humble" rebuke from you. He clearly says in Dust (speaking in the context of Peter walking on the water to come to Jesus), "Who does Peter doubt? He doubts himself, he looses faith in himself that he can actually be like His Rabbi". Peter's Rabbi is Jesus Christ the Son of God who is God. Also Bell says "all my life I have heard people talk about believing in God, but God believes in us". Both these statement are in error and elevate man to the level of a god, which is clearly New Age.
uhmmm... that's a great leap of logic to make... Bell only claims that we can be 'like' our rabbi, not 'be' our rabbi. God believing in us by no means imply that we are elevated to the level of God.
@chineseporcupine November 2004 Christianity Today article The Emergent Mystique, influential pastor Rob Bell: This is not just the same old message with new methods, Rob says. Were rediscovering Christianity as an Eastern religion, as a way of life. Legal metaphors for faith dont deliver a way of life. We grew up in churches where people knew the nine verses why we dont speak in tongues, but had never experienced the overwhelming presence of God
i think u have mistaken the God our creator & his creativity in creating us & in giving us an imagination.
-A creative way to interpret our world & our God & the Jesus we know & thank 4 our salvation.
-Formation of images or concepts of what is not actually present to the senses
-in creative writing 'like' is a simile, metaphor is saying this 'is' this (i.e 'be Christ' hes speaking in a metaphor)
It saddens me that u cannot support a brother in Christ. who shares God creatively & poetically

I think you misunderstood rob here.
he didn't say "you can go to heaven if you believe hard enough" or "you can do all things thru yourself"
he simply said that you should have the faith in yourself to do what is good just as you trust God to help you do that and as he trusts you to do it.
