These lyrics are amazing. Actually, all La Dispute lyrics are fantastic. But this one for me has such imagery and meaning that I can't do anytthing but remember my own buried flame when I listen to this. Everything about this band is so relatable, and puts feelings into words we would all choke and stutter on.
I remember I heard this song on the radio sometime last year, never caught the name of the band or the song, and searching for the few lyrics I remembered resulted in nothing. Then, last night, I heard another song by them. They have such a distinctive sound that I recognised them after all this time and only ever hearing that other song once.
This song would be perfect if it didn't fade out... There are many songs on the album that the fade out wouldn't bother me... but this one cuts off the sweet riff at the end and makes it really hard to hear one of the best lines on the record.
@ERICistheafterparty I can relate the two, I just place La Dispute in an entirely different spectrum; HHLL learns more towards a sporadic, not so much grind, and an awkward emotive vocalist while La Dispute is much more refined... Most of the stuff in this song is pentatonic I believe, carries a classic rock feel... I would just never put this near HHLL, it'd be an insult, and I'm a fan of both. HHLL is a kids band to me
"We cast our hearts in plaster, we imagined our bodies were fashioned from stone, but they chipped at the brick and the mortar, we found out that we're only layers of skin hiding bones. And our bones are like chains, old and rusted in the raid, they're going to snap when the weight shifts."
So much soul. I could never get sick of this.

@MrWesford He may not be the most talented signer, but the lyrics and instrumentals are beautiful. Though I've learned to enjoy his voice.

They're more first wave screamo, but they're still pretty good. Better then most shit I hear on the radio.

@skippinggirlvinegar He's not trying anything. He's simply conveying emotion. He's just yelling.

@ERICistheafterparty No where close. Try again.
ProminentReborn 10 months ago
@ProminentReborn actually pretty close with the scratchy vocals with jazz influenced minor scales and similar music theories with a moderate tempo.
except the lyrics are more thought out.
