Awesome & Fabulous song of Great Maestro Mohammed Rafi Sahab. He is always superb. His voice is uncomparable, golden, mesmerising, excellent & the best. He is IMMORTAL in this world. His voice can never die. This movie "GUIDE" is a milestone & will be remember for its music & of course for Great Legend Mohammed Rafi Sahab's voice. There is only one Mohammed Rafi Sahab in this world like the SUN & the MOON.
story of life...rafi sahib have made this movie more meaningful and soothing with his sweet touches. I really felt very bad about raju what he has gone through in the magic spell of another guys wife.....
Rafi sahib passed away 30 years ago (31 July 1980), but his legend lives on as his voice still continues to entertain and amaze millions around the world. No one replaced humble, modest and pious Rafi sahib. He changed Indian film playback and music industry forever. He is a book on how to sing. His playback voice changed the fate of most Indian film actors, and made them superstars of their time. I am honoured to have met him, be his family's neighbour in London-UK. RIP Mohammed Rafi.
This is my best movie and all the songs are also good i think that every person should see this movie bcz it has all the ingridents, which makes it very very special movie. thx dear bellztoll
Hi friends ! dev saab at his best long live dev sahab ! we love you dev sahab,, u are and u will remain ever green hero ever after in the history of indian cinema .
This song is one of the most soothing songs ever recorded. Try listening to it at late night between studies(as I used to do in the 60's) Thanks for the upload. Can we rate the best 10 songs of rafi sahab? It would be very interesting.
Love this song, such a deep soulful voice by Rafi Saheb, amazing control he has over his voice. goes deep down in the heart and touches every corner of it ...
I saw this movie when I was about 10 yrs old and since have listened to the song more than a million times. I love it's simplicity in reaching your heart.
along with Jo Wada Kiya and Aja re Pardesi this is in my list as the greatest hindi songs ever.
The Saxophone is by famous Saxophonist Manohari Singh, who worked for both SDB and RDB. Read his interview on Sachinda group on yahoogroups. On has to be a member.
this is one song which every woman wants her husband to place his hand on her heart and sing every day to make her sleep happily...the meaning is more beautiful than the tune...hope i get a lovely wife..
Oh my God! At last I understand the ending. I was always puzzled by the meaning behind the words 'Sirf mein'! Thank you 'dospek', and your knowledge of Hindi and Hindi relegion. God bless you!
no offence to the poster... but you have edited the thing and in the ending you show as if they both end up together... which is so not the case which was why the movie was so great... he leaves all bindings with earth to become something higher...
LOL... That's a curt way of putting it... but the real ending is when he speaks within himself where he shows two conflicting sides of the soul... The Earthly side which wants to live on and love and enjoy all the pleasure offered in this earth... and then the divine half which declines all these pleasures and realizes that I AM ... He says with his last breath "Sirf Mein hoon... Sirf Mein"... He becomes God as he gets mukthi!
Sorry if my comment sounds curt. I do not understand Hindi at all but I love that musical language. Thank you for explaining the end of the story! May you live long with good health, wealth and happiness!
yeah ur rite he dies in the end and then says sirf main sirf main sirf main... personally i didnt like it but im only 19 so it's still happy endings for me... still the songs are great.. all of them.. however guide sans the rafi triad is highly so so.
I watched this film in Sri Lanka for more than 10 times because I liked this song. I get the same sensational emotion whenever I listen to this song. It is a heartfelt rendition.
Congratulations, Bellztoll, you created quite a masterpiece of story line of the movie "Guide" here. Great work! To me this movie was Dev Anaand's Magnum Opus. He proved he can do serious acting and at the same time he chose a difficult theme with philosophical background for a commercial venture. He and his director brother made it a success.
Manohari da is a brilliant Arranger who worked with sachinda and then RD, though he played the saxophone for most other music directors as well..in fact most of the saxophone pieces in not just the burmans', but also salilda as well as shankar-jaikishan songs were played by him.he is in his eighties now and stays in Bombay..inspite of indifferent health, he still performs on stage and continues to regale us with his genius at playing the sax! May God give him a long, healthy and happy life!
just to comment on the soulful and brilliant saxophone that you have so rightly pointed out in this song, it was played by Shri Manohari Singh, popularly known as Manoharida.
It is such a difficult song to sing it has awesome MAGICAL TOUCH and this was possible because a guy named SACHIN DEV BURMAN ALIS DADA was living in india he was really a dada in its real sense its rhydm is unique and another guy named MOHAMMED RAFI was also avialable in india this is how this MAGICAL COMPOSITION came into being 03332604292
Rafi Sahib...No one and I repeat no one could have sung this song but you..This is why inspite of the fact that Kishore was dev Anand's favourite yet S D Burman insisted he wanted Rafi Sahib...
Rafi carried the song so well......fantabulous.....one more thing which I noticed in the song just now.....is if you listen to the words "rang" and "sang" (first 35 secs) I feel you will get the Panjabi touch in it......which reminds me of Rafi's Panjabi roots.....
Just trying to understand what you said - please don't take offence. How do the words "Rang" and "Sang" in spoken Punjabi differ from regular Hindi? Emphasis or the way they were ended rather "short"? But that is how I would pronounce them in Marathi. I am a Mumbaikar.
Beautfil song and yes indeed todays songs are nothing but rap, pop, english, and exposure. Don't think I don't love Bollywood, I do, but old movies, because of their respect, and classic music, which I can understand, feel, and sing too, without being embarrassed!
How can you expect today's bollywood songs to ever give quality like this? During those days lyrics were made first and songs composed to suit them...nowadays it is the other way around. Music composers make the tunes and lyricist fits the words... also earlier the composer, singer, director and actor spent time together for each song. Does that happen now..I doubt.
Bollywood buck up. Bring passion and everlasting music back.. I am 49 and heard this song about 35 years ago and it stlll leaves me with wonderful memories - the music, lyrics and the singing is simply wonderful.
I watched this movie at age 18 and at 55 still like the songs and watch some parts of movie, I think this is one of the best movie of bollywood and songs are unforgetable and still mesmeremised me
this is the second hindi lovesong, the most beautyful one reminding again life in 60s and early 70s wow....I just love it and listens and listens.....and listen
can anybody add this song for me " katon ke nich ke ye anchal " it's from Guide but I can't find it , thank you so much , I'd like to send it to my sister !
This song and Din Dhal Jaaye from the same movie make me want to cry...not because I'm upset or something but because of gratitude at being blessed with being able to listen to this music. Rafi and SD Burman in top form - immortal stuff!
This movie is the peak for all people involved. Dev Anand, SD Burman, Rafi Sahab all gave their best movie, music and vocals respectively. It just can't get better than this!!
you damn right man...hindhustani has such melodious tunes..however bollywood which is so money driven...hasbeen sexing up its films and westernising its unique hindustani music..saddening
I agree with you. They haven't even spared the Korean's...the song from race (pehli nazar) was copied from a Korean drama.Music composers like shanker jai krishan and R D burman are hard to find nowdays. Indian music is just going down the drain.
Superb. Can someone please post another great song of Rafi "Jhoom Ke Ga Yun Aaj Mere Dil, Raat To Guzre Subho Na Aye". I am going crazy trying to find this song over the internet.
In Cannes Film Festival-2008 this movie was screened under the classic film category. Incidentally, Guide had also been selected as India's official entry to the Oscars in 1965.This movie has achieved this recognition . I am so happy for this.
Mohd. Rafi has sung thousands of solos in hindi films but none has moved me more than this song . To this the legendary Sachin Dev Burman and the great Vijay 'Goldie' Anand have also contributed along with lyricist Shaillendra, Devanand and Waheeda Rehman !
Guide - what a novel and what a movie! Exactly what collaborative art is meant to be (IMHO). I love the fact that how Raju is a "guide" to all other...be it Raju a physical guide for Rosy's husband, a lover and professional guide to Rosy and finally a spiritual guide to the common people...yet for most of his life he is unable to find the true destination of his mind/body/soul. A guide in search of a guide!
GOD some racist ppl! 'pakis would never reach close' as if that's true. where did pakistani ppl come in from this song? and its nt pakis its pakistanis would u lyk it if pp, called u indies? and no im nt a pakistani but wat some ppl down there said i did nt lyk
Seeing and listening this song, I really enthralled, so sweet melodious with vocal intensity of Late Mohammed Rafi Sahab. GOD BLESS with my profound feelings. And my sincere thanks to the owner of this collection, who brought wonderful memories back. Thanks enormously, and keep up to good work. -- Imran Hampshire, UK

Undoubtedly, one of the best songs ever. More than the song, I appreciate the creator of this video who has summarized the movie "Guide". Good job!
