  • What a voice!!

  • Beautiful voice & person she was.

  • She was a wonderful singer... the power in her singing is so strong you can almost feel it.. :)

  • I'm 45 years old, just discovered this song from watching "Shutter Island"...and if you don't sit through the credits, you don't get the pleasure of hearing this song...I actually like this version much better because it's not as synthesized..I've heard of Dinah Washington, but was more of a Sara Vaughn person...WOW!

  • The most beautiful, complicated, complictedly beautiful and beautifully complicated voice male or female in any human genre - I've ever heard. With NO close second.

  • Her voice is so raw, yet so refined! Pure magic!

  • in my opinion dinah OWNS this song....no one sings this like she does!

  • Dinah's so great.

  • Just Amazing.

  • Fit in so wonderfully in the film "Killer of Sheep"

    Thanks for sharing it!

  • @DaleCredico

So very true! Saw the film years ago while attending college, and Dinah's song underscores the whole film.

  • BEAUTIFUL Voice

  • There are so many great versions of this song!! Jackie Wilson, Johnnie Taylor, Aretha, Bobby Bland, Deborah Cox...

Post Stephan.... Best to you, Marcie* xxx

  • Yes, that's why I'm here. Saw the movie on the weekend and this song hit me hard. Definitely amazing!

  • The vesion on Shutter Island is acutally a mash up of the vocal from this and a modern classical piece by Max Richter. And it's AMAZING

  • i just heard it, its absolutely AMAZING!!!

whoever produced the fusion with those to classics has a beautiful imagination and a great ear. it's Perfection.

  • Yes, indeed. He has also included Johnnie Ray's "Cry", Kay Starr's "Wheel of Fortune", Lonnie Johnson's "Tomorrow Night", and, most moving, Max Richter's "On the Nature of Daylight", into the soundtrack.

  • This song closes the new Martin Scorsese film, "Shutter Island".

  • of course it does...this song is given its due in 1977's Killer of Sheep. Scorsese saw it. He's ok too though ; )

  • I love this song of above most

  • Out of the hundreds and hundreds of Dinah Washington recordings, this is among my favorite. I absolutely love it.

  • Perfect! What a great voice!

  • A bijou fitting for the tree of Best Voices.

  • This has been my favorite song every since I was a little girl...

  • the pacing, the interpetation of this song is incredible...WOW! She is addictive...other singers can seem dull beside her...an original...like Sarah Vaughn...distinctive

  • brrrrrr najezih se

  • the end simply blows everything away. genius.

  • wow...this blows my mind...her phrasing is genius...

  • perhaps it's my weakness for female voices, but I love this version more than lou's...and even aretha's...

  • I LOVED THIS SINCE I WAS.........LOL

  • so BRILLIANT ...that voice coupled with

    optimism. Bravo
