  • Wilson Pickett never got his just dues as a R&B entertainer. There will never be a soulful voice like his again! I was 12yrs old when I first listen to" ninety nine in a half won't Do ". I'm 57yrs old today and that song still ministers to my heart. His " B ", side songs was just as touching. The " Danger Zone, " " I'm Sorry, " and, " Three Time Loser " was awesome songs too! I will always love Wilson Pickett! RIP!

  • @june79ful Your dad's voice and talent was extraordinary. Even though the sound quanity of this particular video isn't great, his passion and voice cut through and take me places where I love to be. That's the beauty of music.......his light and joy will shine on all of us forever. Honestly, he makes me proud to be a member of the human race and you should be proud to have had him as a father. My blessings to you and all the members of his family.......... love, a fellow artist,

  • Great video, great song, great performer....

  • You should see Wilson in Only the Strong Survive. That man still looks so good. Clothes do not make him look good. He makes the clothes look good. I was going gaga every time they showed him. He has a vibrant personality that makes you want to hang out with him. He is definitely aging well or at least he looks fantastic on the dvd.

  • My all time fav vocalist..I NEVER realized who he was until just today..and he died a couple years back..very, very sad.

  • Solomon Burke, a soul music pioneer and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee whose songs blended soul, gospel, country and R&B, has died. He was 70. Burke died early Sunday He was scheduled to perform in Amsterdam on Tuesday. Burke's biggest hits include his first single, "Cry to Me," and "Everybody Needs Somebody to Love," 1964. recorded by the Rolling Stones, most famous for its use in The Blues Brothers, starring Dan Aykroyd and John Belushi. Dirty Dancing also popularized "Cry to Me,"

  • R.I.P.

  • Great-my favorite version

  • RIP Solomon Burke..the guy who wrote this song.

  • @gracefulangels

No thank you! I was fed on your dad's music from birth and it's because of his music that I have soul and more go around. I live and breath the Great Wicked Picket. Peace.

  • He was so great!

  • what a beautiful man

  • dude in one of the parts where it's just him and in the drums he totally said "in the midnight hour" any other pickett nerds nutting over that?

  • hendrix playedtarn p for wilso rythm guitar for wilson pickett

  • Will SOMEONE PLEASE POST "DON'T FIGHT IT" by Pickett on here PLEASE

  • You can tell Wilson is in it for the music not the money. We need more people like this at present.

  • Listen to this guy do "Hey Jude" on this same page. Nobody, I mean nobody could possibly do it better. If they did I could not bear to listen to it. While you listen think a thought for the Beatles, who are not one of my favorite music groups, until I hear stuff like this. I just had to turn Hey Jude off and save it for later, I am alone tonite and got to me! What an artist!

  • What if Wilson Picket was just starting out and sang this same song today? Same music, same everything? Something to think about. Would he be a hit today if unknown? I for one cannot see other than he might revolutionize show business. But, then, I have been a ardent fan since the days of, "Wolfman Jack." How many remember the fantastic, Wolfman? A little good grass and the minight hour with Wilson and all the others that we have forgotten.

  • @briscocreek

I think it would be so different now a day, that people would flock to it.

good is good in any era...

  • Soul... or whaat? =p

  • 3 dummies "Disliked" this. Please, learn something about music before you talk or type about it, kids.

  • Sounds like prince got Lets Go Crazy from this

  • This song always makes me think of the blues brothers.

  • Lady Gaga.... just isnt in the same league!!!!!!

  • @chilloutcockney The Rolling Stones aren't the same league!!!! Never really realized what they had that was so great... (And people putting them on the same bag as Beattles, Pink Floyd, Queen, The Doors...! GOD!!!)

  • @bambosino Put Allman Brothers and the Band in that bag too... Rolling Stones? meh...

  • @bambosino - the Roling Stones are not a black soul band, but they played the rock'n'roll by its roots at this time too. Unfortunately are the live recordings in this age done with no more than 8-track tape machines. Live recordings in this 1st class quality were made by BBC-Studios, where was the live atmosphere of a rock concert together with the best recording technology of the era.

"Bright Lights - Big City" is an example of live gig by the Stones than!

  • @bambosino - there is no need to put everything in a bag!

It's only Rock'n'Roll - and it is played in a different kind in a 80 m² club and in any football stadium of course!

  • Why isn't music like this anymore? this was when it actually meant something.

  • looks like eddie murphy

  • ...it's hard to believe that there were actually guys this good at one time...consider all the artists/music that comprised the '60's...absolutely mind-boggling. Now we're left with Lady GaGa...haha

  • @rjlohr Hey.Lady Gaga is not bad though.

  • @PONYBOY430 Wilson Pickett's been dead for 4 years..RIP

  • I want to be Wilson Pickett

...It's going to be hard since I'm a 17 year old white girl

    Whatever :]

  • @EuphoriaAvenue always chace them dreams..

  • Wilson Pickett é muito bom!!!

  • This brings tears in my eyes, its sooo good.

  • Try our mustang Sally under Video Responses

  • Nothing to say...that really makes me happy, awsome song...

  • They sure did go hard your a sharp cookie dude !

  • God, now this is the stuff.... The real stuff.... I cant believe how clear the picture and sound quality combined is from this era... One of the two or usually both are terrible... this is excellent and hes great live!

  • C'est géant !!!

  • greatest R&B voice around.

  • This is punk rock at it's finest! (don't take this literally). But seriously, 60's soul singers went harder than any other musician from any other era, admit it our parents or grand parents generation was way more bad ass than us (if you grew up after the 60's).

  • @renelemieux I agree 100% with everything you said!

  • @MrDre1966 It's true though isn't it? this band of youthful black men are flat out tearing it up behind the black panther himself... The entire series of Wilson Pickett videos from that particular performance are awe-some, check them out if you haven't already.

  • @renelemieux Good point! It's nice for a change to agree with someone on YouTube!

  • @renelemieux really? ;-)

  • lol @ eddie murphy twin comment haha rolflmao

  • @renelemieux Oh come one today's music is just a result of hard work. It takes hair stylists, weight loss programs, oh yea almost forgot ... tons and tons of musical talent.

  • @renelemieux thank you my brother I am the grandmother, and mother u speak of...dam skippy as we used to say..yes and you may call it punk rock music is universal and people who really love music are ONE.

  • @renelemieux thank you my brother I am the grandmother, and mother u speak of...dam skippy as we used to say..yes and you may call it punk rock music is universal and people who really love music are ONE. and to the other commenter Eddie Murphy wasn't even born and stop comparing people Wilson Pickett is himself.

  • @renelemieux 60's soul was great, and those guys really put some strength into their singing, but I think that soul music was taken to a higher plane in the 70's.

  • @KrfNYC2 I disagree, but I respect your opinion... There was more of an abundance of "Soulful" singers in the 60's, but there were those who went beyond 70's very effectively, Al Green to name one. 70's R&B in general was a lot less intense though as something like this...

  • @renelemieux I see what you're saying, In the 60's there seemed to be more sweat being shed over singing. But a lot of these 60's guys carried over to the 70's, some emerged in the 70's and the overall musicianship was far greater in the 70's. I mean, c'mon...Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, Bobby Womack, The Temptations, Teddy Pendergrass, Al Green (And Ray Charles who was around for what seemed like forvever). I mean, Wilson, Otis and Sam Cooke were great though.

  • quelle epoque!!!!!!!!

  • What a showman. Wilson was great.

  • he remind me of Dwight Howard

  • I love Wilson Pickett!!!

  • Man that guy can sing......Anthony Hamilton must have studied him closely...love the scream.
