What was the attitude of the CCF to all this or did they exist then ? Was this just the mounties or did Canada have anything like the State Militias/National Guard in the US?
Was there an ethnic divsion betwen the farmers' like my great uncles and grandfather and my now @cd cousins in Estevan? and the workers like her in Illinois during the caaol mine era ?
it was just the mounties in cahoots with the mine bosses that murdered the miners... they were coming in from beinfait to have a demonstration/parade and the town council held a special meeting and passed a law against demonstrations before they got in... if you are interested read the book" beinfait" by stephen endicott... it is an excellent read. I am a coal miner at the beinfait mine and the things these guys did have made it better for us to this day...
excellent song though... im a coal miner myself... i work at the beinfait mine and live in estevan... so i can appreciate that song... read the book"beinfait" if your interested
i live in estevan...and this video was added on my bday of this year...whoa...

Good hearing from you, xox --
my unwitting birthday present to you.
And thanks for giving me the opportunity
to use the word "unwitting" -- my vocab word
of the day. Best regards,
Peter

Good to hear from you again, snowbiker, and thanks for the
background info. I have indeed read Bienfait -- Stephen Endicott, am I correct? I live/sing in Toronto, and have the
pleasure of knowing Stephen. I got the lyrics for the song
from a biography of Annie Buller, a Communist organizer who was a part of that organizing effort,
