Im an atheist who celebrates christmas. I also celebrate halloween but i dont believe in satan. I celebrate valentines day but I dont believe in cupid, and I celebrate st patricks day but i dont believe in magic rainbows of pots of gold.

Because it was the pagan winter solstice festival taken on by the christians as was easter which was a fertility festival originally known as eastore. None of that really matters though as it was only the dates and a few customs that were taken on by christianity; the spirit of christmas is christian is and always will be despite the commercialisation

Pagans do not own days of the year and they certainly do not have a monopoly on basing holidays around the solstices and equinoxes. Its illogical to say that because they have a similar date, one holiday is a ripoff of another. The Christian Church wanted to supplant Yule, not steal it.

Because it was the pagan winter solstice festival taken on by the christians as was easter which was a fertility festival originally known as eastore. None of that really matters though as it was only the dates and a few customs that were taken on by christianity; the spirit of christmas is christian is and always will be despite the commercialisation

@ForceRecon198 Pagans didn't invent Christmas. The Pagan holiday is Yule, not Christmas. Christmas is the Feast of the Nativity of Jesus Christ. The dates are similar, the holidays are not. Pagans do not own days of the year and they certainly do not have a monopoly on basing holidays around the solstices and equinoxes. Its illogical to say that because they have a similar date, one holiday is a ripoff of another. The Christian Church wanted to supplant Yule, not steal it.

Well it is clear that this plot to turn off Christmas lights is probably not to "save energy" but just to contain Christmas. This all started with the whole you can't say Merry Christmas and now its turning to you can't put up Christmas lights.
