@Lyingaboutmyage Let's see... to make the game less linear and one-sided, to keep you occupied on it until the next Final Fantasy comes out ect. Many reasons but you act as if the "side quests" are required to finish the game. FFXII is actually pretty quick to finish if you bypass the side quests and item hunting so I'm not sure why you're complaining...

@Lyingaboutmyage I'm not defending Yiazmat specifically(I think it's terrible) but developers put all this extra content in there for people who really love the game and to appeal to different groups of people.

I used to be pretty OCD about seeing all there was to see in games, getting upset and all when I found I missed something or upset over "having" to go through a big time sink but when you get upset you really need to step back and realize it's not a big deal or drama worthy

@trowishma thats such a true statement. I got OCD about Mass Effect 1 and now when I look back I'm just like : "It really wasn't THAT important to do EVERYTHING." I think games like FF are especially susceptible to OCD'ness and the developers know that, so they create crap to keep you busy (often with very little to no reward). I've realized to shut the OCD side of my brain off with games like this because its just not worth it at the end. I just have fun and then let it go.

I have so many questions concerning this video... Well, I better come up with the answers myself :-) I'll just say that this is a highly interesting series of videos! Yiazmat took me about 4 hours in IZJS and he was tough. I don't like the Reverse spell too much and tried to do without it, but I had to include it in my Gambits somewhere between 5 and 9 bars left. Will challenge him again without using Reverse.

3 hours to beat him. 3 characters lv99, 2 lv97 and 1 lv 96. I used 2 characters keep decoy and reverse, 1 character keep on berserk and attack.

for those of us who are economists/too impatient to farm hi-ethers, i think it woulda been a better idea to syphon from the two damage dealers instead of use hi-ethers for mp.

I mean, with their constant hacking and slashing, they're making mp constantly, almost like a regen for mp. Why not just steal theirs? They're not gonna use it.

of course, if you're not too good at keeping ur characters alive under pressure, the syphon method can get a bit faulty, as it has with me a few times...

Thing is to deafeat it without guides imo, anyone can power-lvl to 99 and read a guide on how to do it (im not saying u did it). As for me, it took 5 almost 6 hours to defeat it at lvl 74 (2 characters lvl 15).

First time I killed him it was with level 45s. Took about 6 hours as well. This was something that came about from discussions on gamefaqs about how fast it was possible to kill this guy. Eventually someone brought up the the ultimania guide's 50 minute strat but no one was able to get it to work. I eventually figured out a way to get it to work and posted it here for demonstration(because truthfully if you haven't seen it done it's hard to figure out what the translation means in some parts

This never worked for me, he keeps casting cyclone!!! And my Berserk damage dealers are ultimately dead!! My leader always kept too close! (LV. 84, 'cause Lv.99 is too time consuming).

There are a couple different ways to do it but I force them to attack between infuses which bumps there MP up from 0. You have to really be paying attention to notice though.

i noticed this in a lot of videos, but is it a good thing to have a variety of weapons and armor? I mean like cant you use the strongest and thats good?

That would be right, but a weapon can be good in many ways. It can have a good attack bonus, it can have nice effects on the wielder, the weapon may have an element or so. Having so many weapons is great. In this FF not so much, but for example in FFX there are times in the game, you need about eight different weapons for your main char.

LOL...it depends on the weapon...Katana, Ninja swords, and poles do multiple hits more often then other weapons...if you add berserk and haste to it then watch them go crazy...

He's an Elite mark. Basically he's the last of the 45 marks that you have to defeat from an optional clan that you join. With over 50+ million hp, I wouldn't be surprised if someone said it took them the entire week. and this is FF12 not 13 ;)

lvl 99 is a necessity to any yiazmat battle. its already tough at lvl99 as it is, and i can't bare to waste 6 straight hours of fighting in underleved states and die when growing threat arrives.
