Baz Luhrmann got it right. R+J is all about hot-headed youth being suffocated by parental authority, it's about forbidden love and blood feuds and crime and police action, and in the end everyone loses. It's no wonder that the other weak, prissy versions of this play can't compare.

If you're ever bored by Shakespeare, then the director and the actors are doing it wrong.
