  • Is Paul Salopek the kind of person you'd want to be interviewed by? THere was this girl who emailed him constantly and was suicidal and he gave no response. He was once a hero of mine but you have to question can Paul Salopek be a hero to Africa with National Geographic when --

I gave up on him and his articles

  • The US is not allowed to take action in Darfur! The US along with other foreign countries have offered help in the form of military help. The African Confederation has refused all help and said they have it under control.

  • The Rwandan genocide went on and on and thousands of people died because the international community remained inactive. The only country that bothered to send in peacekeepers was France who was able to create security and until their mandate ran out they were able to save millions of lives. The full U.N. peacekeeping force needs to be deployed to Darfur and the U.S. must take responsibility for ending the genocide in Darfur and they must contribute peacekeepers and greater humanitarian aid.

  • It would be nice for the US to get involved there and do something good and heroic. I would go if asked to volunteer.

  • we all can't just sit here saying oh, thats so sad, i wish i could help. WE CAN!

  • by sending them money right ?

All africans EVER do is beg from the white man.

THIS IS NOTHING LIKE THE HOLOCAUST.

  • Not by sending them money, by using the money to protect the people of darfur from violence. It sounds like you don't understand the situation, because it is everything like the holocaust. A country's government abusing and killing thir own people in a genocide.

  • What is money? Money is only paper but with great value... The citizens of Darfur do not need help from the outside countries for their own freedom... I just think it is a pathetic way to make life easy for them to round up money.

People of Darfur must come together and use their voice... Use their actions. They do not need the rest of the world to pour in just to fight their own government.

  • Oh really, well when the Sudanese government is getting much support from countries like china through the oil/arms trade, who do the people of Darfur have to help them out? They are just civilians, whose only protection may be in the rebel groups for which the Sudanese troops are attacking them (the civilians as well as the rebels (often based on race etc.)).

If your government controlled your army and was using it to attack civilians, and you were in a state of poverty...would you say that?

  • The army might have weapons but they are not different from me and you. I would still say what I have to say.

  • this so true,we are all human beings regardless of what we do or say,or live at,so why not help?????

  • es una decisión política invertir en hacer una guerra en lugar de impedir un genocidio?

  • This is the latest reason why we need to dismantle the UN. If this isn't the UN's job then whose is it? The UN has been hijacked by third-world country terrorists and dictators. If we get rid of the UN then the USA will not have this major beauracracy to deal with to help people in need around the world.

  • The current-day genocide happening in Darfur reminds us of the imperative to fight against genocide and strongly condemn genocide denial.

So why a human rights organization like the Anti-Defamation League is abetting Turkey's campaign to deny the Armenian genocide of 1915?
