  • I don't really like making musik with the normal instrument but those look so freaking cool and fun, i wanna try them...

  • which frequencies, tunings and scales is it tuned to ?

  • Love to buy a Alpha or a Tau, just can't afford one, not with the economy and work situations here. Just will remain as a dream.

  • These two demo lads really aren't the most musical. :/ I'd love to see what someone like Squarepusher, or Jordan Rudess of Dream Theater could do with such creative scope.

  • @MrDaraghkinch if you search on YouTube for other Eigenharp videos, you'll find a large collection of demos made by other musicians, thanks for watching!

  • this is the coolest thing ever. ever

  • SHUT UP AND TAKE ALL MY MONEY!!!!

  • Calling this an expressive instrument doesn't even nick the surface. Absolute ultimate for the serious musician. Geat basic and actually followable demo

  • @klockdoctor Unfortunatelly, most serious working musicians can't afford one.

  • @mr4y aren't they under $700? thats less than a drumset or guitar or piano

  • @AverySparkx The instruments you mentioned can produce sound alone. All Eigenharps are MIDI controllers, meaning they'll cost more one the long run as you need something attached to it to make sounds.Even the cheaper Pico will cost more than a full fledged 88 key midi controller.

  • This is a wonderful instrument that for how much it cost at the moment is super cheap but not a lot of people dont kow about it because the people who where dooin the marketing for this messed up and couldent recover.

  • I have dreamed of this kind of thing for years... :O And it has existed for 8 years already? Why didn't I know of it earlier? xD

  • @SuperErmine the Eigenharp has been in development for 10 years now and was released to the public 2 years ago, it's not been around that long :-)

  • @RogueRawson the software is available for Windows 7 and for Mac

  • Is it theoretically possible to use this to control any software that can take midi input? Say like Tracktor and Serrato (for DJing) and say something like Ableton or Reason? I would love the possibility of being able to switch between the DJ software and a program like Ableton... without changing controllers.

  • @DJelectfire yes that's totally possible

  • By pressing down a special key, it plays a little melody.

  • I love everything about these instruments... except for the gay demo music the guys make.

  • 7:48 forward, whats the name of the music they're playing???

  • can you connect that to reason? i´d like to play dubstep with that

  • why are you not working with the guys who created the samchillian a few years back?

  • Its funny because a lot of people consider the piano to be the most difficult instrument, not they get to eat shit

  • @rgb5e A Piano? Even a guitar is more difficult to play than a piano.

  • @StreamOfMetal U MAD?

  • @3mptyLab No, I just played both instruments for about 12 years.

  • @StreamOfMetal Did you start with the guitar or the piano?

  • @3mptyLab I started whit the piano, and dude... In a piano, u dont have to struggle to get the sound, Did I explain? U just play and even a 5 year old can play a nice melody, whitouth any knowledge of music. Not the same in a guitar... and of course with time u become better, but the sound is just way easier to get in a piano. Sorry for my excentric Inglish LOL xD

  • @StreamOfMetal Yeah that's true... But IMHO at higher levels it becomes more difficult to master the piano technique

  • Amazing, but will it blend?

  • more cowbell!

  • Eigenharp is an advanced controller (like mouse, touchpad, keyboard, joystick, MIDI controllers, others ...) which controls the software and sound system of a computer.

This computer/audio system processes the events which arrive from the Eigenharp controller and modulates and enriches them with real time effects.

So the eigenharp does not produce a single tone by itself (like a "harp" does), you always need a good (specific) computer/software/audio system to play it.

    Cool thing anyway :)

  • and just who is supposed to teach someone how to play this thing? I can't imagine experienced Eigenharp teacher are easy to come by.

  • There is now stable software for the Pico on Windows according to the manufacturer

  • spoiler: no Leela appears!

  • whats the blow piece do?

  • Not impressed at all : / Seems pointless really, stuck all those ideas in one instrument, that doesn't sound amazing, or look amazing, or look enjoyable to play : /

  • they shoulve brought jordan rudess to present this thing

  • The Star Wars cantina bar scene is now a reality!!

  • its the dubstep instrument!

  • Why do other instruments exist??

  • @raizuna sounds like from tron (the old one I think)

  • @robosmcpherson No... tron didnt have music like that. Not even Legacy. The whole song I'm thinking of was 8bit and that wouldn't really fit into a film.

  • The 8-bit sounding rhythm from 8:20 - 8:40 sounds familiar Anyone know anysongs with a build-up or part of the song like that? it's killin me

  • @raizuna sounded like mario brothers to me.

  • @raizuna You're thinking of Body Crash by Buy Now

  • @istutsman1 YESSSSSSSSSSSS THANK YOU

  • @raizuna

The part made me think of Together - Hardcore Uproar

  • Absolutely Fantabulous! I want one and I want it now! This will go great with my singing Tesla Coil!

  • What is the sound he's using to demonstrate the up and down motion? Amazing

  • I'd totally get one of these if I wanted to make Donkey Kong Country music.

  • @atomicbolt you do realize you could use it to play virtually any synth right?

  • que locoo

  • the guys in Pink Floyd would've LOVED this thing...

  • O.O COOL!!

  • I WANT IT NOW! OoO

  • It looks insanely tough to learn how to play the way its meant to be played.

  • Can't wait to see some clown use this with Guitar Hero.

  • I want the song they used at the end...

  • will most synths even understand two notes being pitch bended in 2 different directions?

  • how much does this thing cost?

  • @Mattdangerisawesome ONE MEELEEON DOLLARS

  • @Mattdangerisawesome around 550 ;D

  • alright. who're the silly sods who hit dislike. c'mon, fess up!

  • I love the unearthly sounds it can make!

  • GIEF NAO

  • Cosmic Key!

  • i wonder how complicated that is to play when u actually learn how to play it. it seems so bizarre

  • @TheSamco44 apparently its not very hard. my friend has one and he says once you know what to do its really logical.

  • WAIT WHAT IT CAN BECOME A SEQUENCER WHAT THE FUCK, SWEET JESUS TAKE ALL MY MONEY

  • I think my definition of what exactly a musical instrument is has changed forever.

  • 6:30 starts sound link How To Disappear Completely

  • did his driods have to wait outside?

  • wow this is the most awesome instrument EVER.

but i dont wanna know how many years u have to practice to be near as good as those guys

  • The shape & appearance of the larger "Alpha" instrument looks like it was inspired by the renaissance and early baroque predecessor to the bassoon, the dulcian/curtal - its amazing as to how similar the shapes are. Clearly the designers saw some early bassoons and were inspired???

  • I don't know ... Some of the sounds kind of seem cheesy to me.

  • does all the samples come with purchase?

  • The samples are amazing on this. On other electornic synth and such, they sound really cheap and not able to be useable, but here they sound like the real thing, and you can be really creative and expressive with it.

  • booo they only run on macs...

  • this thing must cost a buttload

  • Holy SHIEEEEEETTTTTTTT!!!!!!!!! Gimmie one now!

  • sick, I think I need one, but I don't know why.

  • WOW!!! This instrument just blew my mind!

Mastering an eigenharp just became a dream of mine.

  • this is EPIC

  • Check out Eigenlabs website for more info. It takes a month of daily practice to be able to play it on stage. You get what you put in. It will be difficult to play if you spend 5 minutes a month practicing.

  • I'm gonna download this video and keep an mp3 copy of the song they do at the end. Many of you are not skilled enough to do such things. Such people should kill themselves now to avoid embarrassment and a life of unending misery.

  • @Dorminay42

Someone rape you in the butt?

  • Why USB, not Bluetooth? The instrument promises so many musical degrees of freedom, so don't bind the musician to the cable!

  • @yutsis I was thinking about this too, but i have found out through experience that bluetooth isn't always stable, and you can loose connection, i was thinking maybe thats why then did it.

  • Slick, but it has some weaknesses. Rather than doing one thing well it tries to do everything imaginable. All that customizability means that no one will ever master it, because its interface is a moving target. Much of the learning to play it involves understanding its myriad of control parameters. There's nothing singularly unique about it, in that any sound you make on it can be created by other controllers. And lastly, it will always sound like a synthesizer through speaker cones.

  • @xylenz Yeah, but it's awesome. You forgot how awesome it is.

  • the aftertouch pressure sensitivity is very cool i also love the wind and ribbon controler inside this.

  • The "One-Man-Band"s of the future are going to be far less comical looking.

  • Simply amazing!

  • where can I buy one???? its so cool!!!

  • @balabamis You can't. Well, you can, but the only sound it makes is Rick Astley.

  • I don't know how to play a simple piano T__T i need some pratice before even thinks about this thing

  • BTW - it will only work on a MAC. It's not Windows compatible and you still need to hook it up to your stereo or guitar amp to get any kind of decent sound. The drums sound cheesy. $5600 for the Alpha is way too expensive for this toy. I wouldn't call it portable either. You need a computer at all times to hear anything. Does it have a spit valve? Where does the condensed breath water accumulate?? Horn players will know what I'm talking about.

  • @guitgeo oh yeah ,THAT's a good question .( BTW not only horn player but also ALL brass player and by exention musicians )

So mr eigenharp ,were all the water condensation (and ,yes, also saliva) will get out ?

  • @guitgeo Good point about the condensation in the breath tube....but bassoonists like myself will know what you mean even more than horn players (I played horn too as a child)....the Alpha model looks a lot like a renaissance dulcian/early bassoon! ;)

  • @jcbaritone thats exactly what i was thinking!! i saw the Alpha and was like, "BASSOON!"

  • @sharrkmaster I dunno... it seems to me it's that shape more for functionality.

  • Can I sell this in America for you? If I sell 100 Alphas can I have one for free? Please..?

  • the more you watch of the eigenharp the more you want it!!!!

  • I want one do you have contests to give them away I would give you guys awesome props on youtube if I got one when I get one

  • Reminds me of the Holophoner from Futurama

  • @googlenator2001 Reminds me of something the Cantina Band from Star Wars use.

  • @googlenator2001

That's because it says Futuristic Eigenharp Holographic Performance on you screen.

  • @googlenator2001 TOTALLY! that's exactly what i was thinking!

  • hope to have a chance to play it myself someday

  • Rock'in as always.
