@mystique180 Guess my ass is in a sling now, but had no other choice but to remove the comments by that certain racist individual who chose to air his/her thoughts regarding this post! Please join me in avoiding any more of the poison that this character wishes to spread. My "ass in the sling" has more to do with what might happen to my account because I challenged a "dufus" for his/her vicious/racist remarks. I'd have commented sooner, but never saw this particular snide remark. Best to All!
@varadero1839 Thanks for removing his/her comment. I usually just respond to rude users like him/her once, and then block them, it keeps things from getting out of control. :)
@JacquieHuib WOW! I mean to say that your search has ended, and I'm so honored to have been part of it. I love Ms. McKee, and still think she's one of the loveliest and most talented performers anywhere! Thanks once more for your kind comment!
I wore out two cassettes listening to this! Mostly Lonette, but the whole thing is gorgeous. This has to be one of the best version of any song ever. ;)
@PuffLippy06 Ms. Lonette really rules the roost here! She's so lovely, and talented that we the audience, are enchanted! Thanks so much for your comment!
It Also important to notice how Cappola used lighting and who ever was the Director of Photograghy for this scene .the editing and sound was sensational . They really captured pain and desperation in miss Mckee's face ....
I hope Harold Arlen did not die before he got to see and hear Lonette McKee do his great song. This one scene is more exciting than any musical number Streisand filmed.
@unclealand Lonette really knows how to put this piece over! Your having mentioned Mr. Arlen is particularly apropos. He was a genius; only wish Ms. McKee had more complete solos in this movie. Thanks so much for your comment!
you better BELIEVE it!!! this song is definitely lonette mckee's!!! she gave me chills up and down my spine when she sung it, and BELIEVE me, it was definitely worth it!!! thanks so much, varadero1839 for posting this, i mean really!!
Favorite song from my favorite movie!! I saw this movie back in '86, about 2 years after it came out. We were heading to an after hours warehouse club in downtown L.A. It was summer, and hot and breezy that night. I'll never forget this song as it played in my head on that hot summer night with the wind blowing across my face and through my hair. Gave me goosebumps on a hot night. Lonette OWNS this song, best version ever!
Looks like an advertisement for a movie or commerical. Lynette McKee is gorgeous and she never got the recognition she deserved. See, fair skinned blk women didn't get their just do either.
Hi Helen! I miss you! Sorry for my delay in corresponding; my job is making me crazy! Promise to write again soon via another media. Love to you...Juan
You bring to us a difficult period in our history which in time has become legendary and uniquely American. It has entered into nostalgia, because of the wonderful songs born during this depression. This is one of them. Thank you for finding, and posting these great songs and videos.
I love Ms. McKee's version of this song. Works perfectly in the movie within the given context. Thanks for this post. She has a wonderful voice.
