  • I swear this was The Who at its finest. Moon is still awesome, Entwhistle is right on and Daltrey's voice is the best ever. Peter, well, he won't ever die. Moon is especially remarkable, but that was Keith. Just one more.

  • Moon, Entwhistle, Townshend & Daltery. All ya need to know b4 ya no it's the WHO

  • Looks like they had the best drummer ever?

  • The Hives can't explain!

  • Physics Can't Explain how Keith Moon played like this.

  • live at the isle of wight festival 1970

  • They should of played this song at woodstock shit would of been far out!!

  • This song is awesome and i can explain.

  • Would love to see how swimmingly Pete and Macca get along, hehe...

  • best live version of cant explain fab

  • great song

  • Dead microphone for the drummer - whoever he is, is pounding it!

  • @malabargold That is Keith Moon, good sir.

  • @malabargold lol "who ever he is"...that sir, is the greatest rock drummer to ever live

  • @jaqua524 Keith Moon

  • @kitt5804 i was quoting that person

  • @jaqua524 Sorry.I'm not doing what everyone else is, being mean to you cause or if you don't know who it is.

  • Two words: PENIS CHICKEN

  • Did you mean, MOOOOOOONIIEEE!!!!

  • MOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOON!!!!!!!

  • Two words KEITH MOON!!!!!!

  • Ops I'm mistaken.

  • maybe the fact that's so slowed down is throwin ya.

  • Christ Roger left out an entire verse.

  • I think the editors cut out alot of it. I know this for sure. I've seen them perform We're not Gonna Take It and I have the audio of it too on my Ipod. All I know is that he probably did sing more verses but someone was a douchebag and had to cut it "for time purposes"

  • What the hell happen to good music like this.

  • two words : Micheal Jackson

  • Great music but horrid video.

Why is all of the camera work mainly aimed at Pete and Rodger, and practicaly never on Entwistle or Moon.

It sickens me how alot of people say Pete Townsend was ALONE The Who and fuck the other three members, i apreceate that he wrote most of their songs, but that dosent instantly mean that he is the whole band.

The other members are just as big part of The Who as Pete was you know.

  • woodstock festival 1969 best show EVER!!!

  • Best Quallity!!

  • KEITH MOON!

  • No huh huh ! !

  • JOHN ENTWISTLE IS THE BEST!!!

  • HELL YEAH !

  • I PLAY BASS AND JOHN IS TOP OF MY LIST.

  • well he obvioiusly liked it since hje was in the band for more than 30 years! also him not jumping around like pete or roger kinda brings the band down to earth and cements them down kinda also he doesnt really need to jump around etc to prove himself becuase his bass playing is all he really needs!

  • lol,my brother says the same thing

he says that he hates the band and that he wishes to leave it :D

  • John lived for being on the road and living the life of a rock star. The only reason why The Who started touring again in the 90's was because John was in debt for living the lavish life of a popular rock musician. John continued to tour with his solo band after The Who dissolved and was not very successful, so Pete and Roger decided to help give back to John by touring like they used to.

  • of course he did, if he didn't like being in the who he had enough talent to leave and form his own band. It's just his character aye

  • didnt like the spotlight. same as john paul jones. bass players didnt all jump around like fags back then like they do now

  • Love this video and song. But I absolutely hate when John is never shown. I mean, he was only the bassist for The Who. Just because he wasn't as amped up as the rest of the band doesn't mean he should've been shut out in the videos...

  • The who where a band formed into mods, The Small faces where mods who formed a band!

  • silly and embarrassing??Are u on crack???That was decades ago stupid!! lol

  • You're stupid lol. This was the 70's.

  • No idea who Pete Townsend is. I know who Pete Townshend is though.

  • O.K first, It's Pete Towns("H")end with an H. Secondly, He was NOT found guilty for those charges as he was looking up websites for a book. And thirdly, to answer your question, this was WAY before the child porn incident.

  • Whatever. He's still a good guitar player, so shut up.

  • R.I.P Keith. Your the GREATEST drummer ever! Think if he still did tours with them... you think he would still have his swiftness down? haha. So clean and so stylish. MOON THE LOON!

  • what a drummer wow:D he 's in heaven when he is playing

  • ...i dont know if over dosing on drugs and wasting a god given gift is a 1 way ticket to heaven but we was an amazing person none the less

  • missed the point a bit

  • who missed the point I or nyboy42??

  • nyboy42. i agree with you.

  • i have to say i prefer this to the original.

  • yeah best was a great Drummer.

BUT MOON>>>Forget that boy took the last train ot of town!!!!

  • search the ribes live rate and comment please =) the who are the best of all time

keith you are wonderful i dream with you

  • lol keith moon's mic was always unplugged and they never told him!!!

  • haha are u sure...im pretty sure i can hear him here

  • no really check out the interview with roger daltre, and no thats entwistle, everyone thought it was moon but it wasnt

  • Sometimes it was turned off. It does sound like he had it on for this show. If they did Tommy, he would have it on since he does sing a couple songs.

  • yea ur right

  • you all have it wrong john died from a getting high off cocaine in a hotel room with a prostitute in Vegas and his heart stopped, in other words a heart attack

  • the mod thing died out and the who kept going.

  • fucker...

  • Actually john died of a heart attack after mixing coke w/ heart medication

  • It's a joke friend and if you re-read, you will see that I stated that the drummer and bassist of the Who died.

Also, John actually died from a heart attack. he just happened to be high at the time.

  • The only two WHO members that have died are the drummer and the bassist...the only two Beatles left alive are the drummer and the bassist.

Conclusion: collaborate and form a new band...The Whotles!

  • Lmfao! That's awesome :D

  • ahahah great!!!!!

  • The Left handed Beatles survived. The Most talented members of the Who did not. This is coming from a dedicated Moon and Entwistle fan. God bless Pete,he has tons of talent and ability, but it pales compared to the uncanny abilities of his former bandmates.

  • there should be a band with paul, ringo(the beatles),pete, and roger(the who) that would be awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • why would u replace the ox and keith?! i agree paul and ringo are good not as but nowhere near as good as entwhistle and moon. The who and the beatles are 2 different sounds combing them especially with the weak half of the beatles wouldnt work.

  • no ringo wouldnt be able to keep up with any of the who's songs like moon did.

  • Very true. Keeping meter is about all Ringo could do! I bet Pete could play the shit out of some Beatles tunes though! I'd love to hear him bang his way through "Revolution"!

  • Comment removed

  • Ringo and Paul with Pete and Roger? BAD COMBINATION, maybe Ringo but not Mccartney. You cant fit Paul Mccartney and Pete Townsend in the same band. Cause both of them RUN the band.

  • Agree, bad combo even though Ringo has spent a lot of time in the studio with Moon and Pete. As for Paul joining, I'm pretty sure they could have some fun jamming together on some oldies but as far as creating anything new... without a doubt there's really nothing that Paul can do that wouldn't bore Pete to death. Would be a debacle from the start.

  • Yeah Ringo probaly yeah but you would have to tell Ringo to play louder or tell The Who to turn down, neither of which I could see happening lol.

  • yup, no doubt. Ringo would have to have his son Zack school him on drumming.

I've heard Pete say that Zack actually learned more from Moon as a child than he did from his dad. I suppose all the partying Moon and Ringo did paid off in the skills of Zack. I think it's way too cool that Zack is their drummer too. I like Kenny Jones a lot but Zack seems to fit in better.

  • OIC where you are going with this... yeah I will admit that Ringo wasnt that great of a drummer. And of course Keith Moon is better than Ringo. Ringo is like your drummer drummer, and Keith Moon is like your drummer x10 + keyboardist + soloist in one.

  • Good analysis...X10. It's been said Keith was like a lead guitarist but lead drummer.

Has also been said the he and John Bonham were rock's greatest drummers. Can't argue with that can we?

  • lol well... id have to argue that. I mean really I know im going to get eaten alive in here for this, but I really think Carl Palmer of ELP was better than both of them. Not put together but individually. And im a HUGE Zeppelin and John Bonham fan so thats my honest opinion.

  • Carl amazing as well. But it's all subjective. My favorite happens to be Ginger Baker. And I like Charlie Watts a lot too. For me, any of them that can put me in a better mood is good.

As for Paul & Ringo...what I've heard and read s that by the time they started Abbey Road, Paul was a more sophisticated drummer and wanted to play a lot of the drum parts. Ringo had a fit and threatened to quit. John stood up for Ringo, but I can guess it happened like you said...Paul instructed him anyways.

  • Oh and speaking of Ringo who has been bumped to the bottom of the barrel by now lol. I've heard many time that his drum parts were always directed and maped out by Paul Mccartney in the studio. That is when he played and recorded with The Beatles. In the world of drummers that must be... embarrasing!

  • Can't blame Paul...he just wanted to get the most out of his songs. Wanted them to sound the way he could hear it in his head.

I've also heard the boys were pretty fed up with Martin's sound as well. Thus... Phil Spector?

  • lol well, Paul probaly could have done it all, I dont know why he didn't just give George Martin the boot and take over the production of the albums himself. lol And if Paul could be two places at once he should probaly just play the drums and get rid of Ringo alltogether, lol but thats bogus!

  • @AntnyMichlHallnOats I know, right?

  • @AntnyMichlHallnOats Would love to see how swimmingly Pete and Macca get along, hehe...

  • @AntnyMichlHallnOats HAHAHAHAHAHA OH FUCK YA

  • Cant explain - but they are the best

  • Hahahaha.

  • the who forever !!

  • THE BEST BAND IN ALL TIMES...

  • i used to have hair like daltrey

    i trimmed it though.

    Gonna defiantly grow it back

    when I start gigging

  • Pete and Moonie were the drunks. I don't ever think I have ever seen a performance where Roger was visibly trashed.

  • thats not true at all

  • this is my new fav who song

  • Yeeeaaaahhh welll. SLOW & SHIT!! The original & early live recordings sound like a disturbed teenager on amphetamines, this sounds like middle aged men after smoking too much dope. Controversial viewpoint..... Fuck it, it's the truth. Flabby, dull performance of a a 2 minute classic. Now feels like 3 minutes. Grrrrrr!!!

  • Sometimes I think there's no better rock band than The Who. Their songs are still great and fresh sounding today.

  • World first sex pistols and ramones was th who

  • i guess first ramones stuff was more like iggy pop and the stooges, but yeah some early Who stuff as well. Altough i don't like this version as much as the early version of Can't Explain, this one is a bit slower

  • Daltrey is dressed like robert plant

  • I don't think Plant dressed like that in 1970.

  • No ,Robert plant is dressed like Roger Daltrey!!!!!!

  • Amen!

  • Yeah... TU SI CHE CAPISCI!!! GRANDE!!!

  • No way! My angel invented that!

  • l'album "the who live at leeds" en fevrier 70 ,est un des meilleurs des WHOS ,difficile a trouver en vinyl ,meme les stone ont refusés de passer apres the whos ,unique pete thownsend!!

    magique !!

  • Love it!

  • :16 - C'Mon! This movie owns. Moon can't sing but hell yes can he drum!

  • Let's just suppose you own a fringed leather hippie vest... ok, Who actually wears these? If you go in the grocery store wearing one of these, they'd be likely to call for security on yo ass. :-)

  • Kickass.

  • That´s Isle Of Wight 1970. As a whole, quite a killer of a concert. Keith is also obviously enjoying himself here,,.

  • AWESOME ! the epitome of rock!

  • Plus Daltrey's post-Tommy voice is a hell of a lot more powerful. one of my favorite from the DVD!

  • This version is cooler than the 1965 original. It rocks harder for sure.
