The Time are fantastic and we all love them. But if Prince would have walked in during that interview all of their dicks would have shriveled. They are absolutely nothing and have all of their limited fame because of Prince. Period.
@ TheRiobezerko. High five, you are one point. Prince made the Time. Originally Alexander Oneal was the lead singer of the time. Prince wrote their hits and was responsible for replacing him with Morris Day. He was also the one who fired jimmy jam and terry Lewis. Who went on to become ,successful producers. But couldn't phone at my children's talent show. The main one talking, jerome is a nobody. Jesse is definitely a good guitarist. But to say that he blows Prince away... Give me a break.
@theriobeserko......not entirely true. If you actually research it, the time was already a band up and running that prince actually looked up to. Any prince/ time biography will say that. He even joined the time when he was starting out.....but prince is a genius, and he had to do /write / sing his own thing. Now as he blew up, he bought the time along with him (also Alexander oneal ) ...but don't get it twisted ; they were formed..image and all....before prince. Peace.
And now they are broken up again right after releasing a new album. It apparently wasnt the smash they tought it could be without Prince. Just goes to show that the REAL Time includes Prince and always has.
@npgfunk I wouldn't say it's because it's "without Prince" except for being forced to change their name from one that everybody knows (and Prince owns). Only die-hard fans know who it still is. Plus, look at the landscape of music today vs. the 80's. Name a top-selling R&B band today. Mint Condition aren't as big as they were in the 90's either & they didn't change their name or depart from a one-time mentor/overseer like Prince. So, their lack of success today factors on a few things.
These guys are talented, but facts are facts. Prince put them together, gave them their look and style, and wrote all of their music. They would have never gotten a record deal if it weren't for Prince, because he got his first with Warner Bros. and they all looked up to him.
@DesiDez1 The Time are expected to talk shit about Prince. It's like a script with characters from the WWE. There's always suppose to be a love/hate relationship with him because Prince started the rivalry for that reason in the first place.
All these guys had talent before they even met Prince. They are actually the only group that Prince ever signed and got together that is still well known too this day. Everybody else that Prince has ever put together didn't last for long. You have to give props too The Time (The Original 7ven) because they stood together and helped each other over the years even when they were not performing as The Time. The are unselfish guys, a class act in my opinion.

Prince and Morris Day aren't even in the same class. They both have there nitch. Prince happened to be one of the most talented overall artist to be recorded. He held it down for decades. The Time had there time... This is just sad to see this feeble attempt to reclaim fame. Not mad, just prefer to to keep them where they belong, In the past. "jungle Love, Oak tree"
morris did write that song, and a couple of other songs, for prince, better term GHOSTWROTE, but prince helped him secure a deal, it was a favor/deal amongst friends, no beef between them..i think its cool how the time, family, prince, were all working together, they all helped each other, and i would like to give a shout out to JEROME BENTON, he brought a lot to the table, and was the first hype man honestly but had class, he was very creative hence under the cherry moon, all are genuises..
You know it's sad to see these old one time wanna-bees hate on Prince, while Prince was the creative force behind their act in the first place. Too bad they don't really have the talent to hold their own, so they have to put down the one person who helped them even get into the limelight to feel better about themselves.
"ATTENTION PRINCE" You might own the rights to the name "The Time" and you might not let them use the name anymore but as fans they will ALWAYS BE THE TIME to us so you can't keep us from calling them "THE TIME"... THE TIME now is using the name "THE ORIGINAL 7VEN" checkout there new song "#TRENDIN" and there new video. You guys check it out and show the masters of cool some Love. SORRY PRINCE YOU LOSE THIS ROUND PURPLE ONE!!!!! OH YEAH THERE NEW ALBUM IS OUT CALLED "CONDENSATE" In store now...
Umm. This is NOT malicious at all. They were just cracking jokes about prince and reminiscing about the past. They admitted having beef with prince for a period of time, but clearly, they got over it. Nice job on misrepresenting the video.
These guys ain't serious. They all go way back and are just fuckin around. Prince probably would laugh at this if he saw it. Prince and Morris are old high school buddies.
@sistavette He was shifted to The Family, they dropped one album, St. Paul went on to do other things, but he and The Family just released an album called Gaslight under the band's new name, fDeluxe.
@DrClaw77 I loved the Family in 1985 or was it 86 Ha! Ha! Ha! I used to rock them on my walkman during my freshman year in college. I'm old what can I say. You remember Tamara and the Seen?
@jimboedwardlee Yeah! One of the best records Jesse was ever involved with... in fact, "Everybody Dance" was proof that Jesse was behind "Jungle Love". Ta Mara (Margie Cox) was a great fit for that production. There were so many good songs on that album...
Prince is one of greatest, but he was an egomaniac. The Time could have played their own instruments in the early days, but because of his own ego, he had to play all the instruments. Just to prove how talented he was. Than he tried to sabotage the time and eventually did when he fired Jam and Lewis.
@OakPark11MileRd All joking aside - I KNOW Jerome is thankfull for the years 1984-1986. Two Prince feature films (one of which he co-starred in) and a spot in the short lived group "The Family". I don't think Jerome has topped anything he did in those years to this date.
We went to that show. They ripped it up. Teena was great too. We had no way of knowing that would be the last time we would ever see her again. I miss her.
@JumpStreet1983 Well you can't forget Dennis Rodman or Larry Johnson's grandma character. But then again, I guess it's more hilarious seeing some petite size man ballin' in feminine looking clothes.
Just think if he could SLAM DUNK!! lol.
Nontheless,Prince will always be the man(despite the clothes) and The Time will always be "Timeless".
Morris day invented swag lol. had jerome bringin out mirrors on stage in the middle of performances, chuckin broads in trash cans lol, morris day is a o.g. but prince was the main attraction when it came to the music shit, the movie was called "purple rain" not "jungle love" lol
Ain't nobody gonna upstage Prince, especially "The Time"...there is NO "The Time" without Prince! Guys are kiddin' around on a local tiny radio show while Prince was on any show that he chooses, so get it right. peace
@briandonald yeah u may be right but its still just a radio station a big downgrade from a Letterman or Leno tv show. Or massive tour. But love the Time saw them last year here with Keith Sweat. Like I said, they're all friends and tease about Prince like everybody else. Jam and Lewis are brilliant.
Terry Lewis and Jimmy Jam got "Fired" for getting snowed in in Atlanta when they flew from Columbia, SC to Atlanta, GA to produce a session with the SOS band. They didn't make the show in Columbia and Prince had to stand backstage behind curtains and play their parts for the Time set. I was in College at USC that year! I remember it well. Spoke to some members of the time a few years later about that.
@rootvox7 You know your stuff and the fact that you brought up the SOS Band puts you in a special class. They were the first concert that I went to in my life in 1984. I always said that the death of the R&B and Funk bands in the late 1980's really hurt Black music. It still hasn't recovered even though the NEO-SOUL crew is doing a pretty good job.
@jimboedwardlee What killed R&B? NWA releasing 'Straight Outta Compton' in 1989. Many won't agree but the impact of that album led to the dominance of so called 'gangster' rap in the 90's, which polluted the era, and killed the idea of black sensuality. It became all about thug love, female dogs and gardening tools. If you look deep enough, the impact of Dr Dre, Ice Cube and Snoop Dog in the late 80s to mid 90's and the chain reaction they caused, led to the obliteration of R&B and Funk bands.
@jimboedwardlee As a result we see veteran acts like Ronald Isley or Charlie Wilson of The Gap Band, trying to be down with the Rappers. It just doesn't work. I don't blame them for trying to keep up with the Jones, but at the same time I won't buy mediocrity from great artists. I know everyone is trying to get that money, but if a generic token rap is the only thing R&B has to offer in the middle 8 or intro of a song then I'm not buying.
@jimboedwardlee An exception is an artist like Lauryn Hill or Jazz/Soul artist Erykah Badu who knows how to utilise Rap without being its jump off chick. Her collaboration with Busta Rhymes on the song 'One', is an example of when R&B and HipHop works well. And of course she used to MC as well so she has an innate understanding of the the music and was raised on its golden era (87-94).
@jimboedwardlee There is an irony about the role of so called 'gangster rap'. Dre's production was undeniable. Till this day the production on albums that Dre produced such as Straight Out Of Compton (1989), No One Can Do It Better (1989), The Chronic (1992), Doggy Style (1993), Murder Was The Case (1996) was undeniable. G-Funk introduced a new generation to George Clinton's funk legacy. Hip-Hop in its various forms came, saw and conquered. The rest, as they say, is history.
There is so much misinformation being spewed out as truth, I feel the need to set the record straight. It's true that Prince produced, wrote and played the instruments on The Time's 1st album. However, The Time came into their own with the outstanding musicianship of Jam, Lewis, Jesse, Jellybean and Monte on their 2nd & 4th albums. Jam & Lewis were fired prior to the 3rd album & Purple Rain movie for missing concerts while producing songs for the S.O.S. Band. They reunited for the 4th album.
@donmegaTHEREDEEMED There was never a real fallout. Prince just dogged the time alot make them perform backstage for vanity 6 and others and cancel their shows and tell not to play their hits like "the bird" and if they did they'd get into shit he fired terry lewis and jimmy jam for some bullshit. Essentially Prince was afraid of the time upstaging him so restrict them on what they could do and shit. Prince formed the time it was his band even though he wasn't in it he was managing it.
I personally liked Morris Day and the time's music,I was just sorry to hear that they booted Alexander O'neal out the group because he wasn't light skinned enough to be in the group,(look it up on wikipedia if you don't believe me..lol)so he went solo and did great on his own..I'd like to see them both on TV1's Unsung..
yo pandemonium was cool it had pandemonium, jerk out ,chocolate and you say thats an awful album "oh come on mang" maybe its to chocalate 4 u but not 4 me prince maybe the man but the original time is the band and if u disagree u need to get your cool degree
OK YOU LOST ME BRO,YOU SAID WHO WANTS TO LEARN A HEAR THE TIME SING A SONG NOT PRODUCED BY PRINCE.DID U MEAN THAT THE CANT DO ANYTHING WITHOUT PRINCE OR THEY CAN ? DONT GET ME WRONG HELL YEAH I AGREE WITH YOU THE TIME IS "COOL" ER THAN ALL THE ABOVE .BUT ALSO WHO WANTS TO HEAR A SONG BY PRINCE THAT THE TIME,BOBBYZ,DEZ,WENDY & LISA DID NOT HELP HIM PRODUCE PEACE
If prince didn't treat them like 3rd class, we would'nt see one of the greatest live band around BAR NONE!!!!!!! I hope when they drop their new 30 years as a group album this year, we will get more insight on what went on during their early years. @thanotoriousBEN and dawn329,Jamie STARR/Prince wrote music !!!!! it was the group that created their status as a icon in music TODAY!!!!!!! This young generation don't know squat about real music from real musicans!!!!!!!!
JIMMY JAM & TERRY LEWIS WERE IN THE BAND !!!! THEY HAVE SOLD MORE ALBUMS THAN PRINCE AS PRODUCERS SO LEARN YOUR SHIT SON.DONT GET ME WRONG I LOVE PRINCE BUT HE HAD GREAT MUSICIANS AROUND HIM !!!
@7thvenom ....Learn my shit? How the hell would you know what I know? I said, "Who wants to hear The Time sing a song not produced by Prince".
Play all the Janet Jackson albums you want homie... or for that matter Alexander O'Neal, S.O.S. Band, Cherelle, Human League, etc.... that music is nothing compared to "The Time, What Time Is It, and Ice Cream Castles."
Pandemonium was an awful album NOT PRODUCED BY PRINCE after Jimmy and Terry rejoined. I could give 2 shits if Jimmy & Terry sold more
@7thvenom That's hard for me to say because they are so different. If held to only two....they would be 1999 because it's was funky, and it rocked at the same time. I remember buying "Sign 'O The Times the day it was released and almost crashing my car when "Housequake" came on... it was the funkiest song I heard since "Knee Deep" by Funkadelic. "The Ballad of Dorothy Parker", "If I Was Your Girlfriend", "Adore", if released today would still sound modern.
@SPAZZOID100 TRUE !!! I AM TO LAZY TO CAPITALIZE PLUS I LIKE THE WAY CAPS LOOKS CALL IT A BASQUIAT THANG !!! LOVE PRINCE & THE TIME PRINCE IS MY FAVORITE ARTIST OF ALL TIME !!! PEACE OR RATHER Peace !!!
Well I guess since Prince is still revelent and selling out stadiums the day before the show and Morris Day is NOT, one needs to talk crap to make up for it. Sad. I guess everyone forgot that Prince wrote every, single, one of the The Time's hits. They Say Jaime Starr as the songwriter, and that is Prince.
@dawn329 umm morris day is still relevent but on a totally diffrent level then prince. but prince is on some mess he wont even let anyone put up his song on youtube. at least morris isnt seemingly stuck up
@dawn329 Prince not only wrote, but produced and played all the instruments on the 1st 3 time albums. the only member involved was morris on lead vocals.
I like "The Time", one of my favorite groups. But 4 them 2 be talkin' shiznit about the one who gave them their shot at fame, is pitiful. I guess that's why they still play introduction instead of main event. Bwwwhaaaaa!!!!!
the radio jocks sound like some haters but these jackasses listened to prince and still listen to prince tryin to get some shit started up like niggaz do instigating a situation if not a situation. Not sure if they're joking or serious though they probably would say it was only a joke. i like the time but their asses played out and plus the time, or at least, morris day, always looked gay a little bit himself to me
lol all u lame ass cry babies on here making comments like prince or morris pay your bills, morris has been with prince since high school, morris wrote the song uptown for prince and prince agreed to produce the time album in return, their all friends and just baggin on each other,we all do that, now go get some tissue and blow your noses.............
You are an idiot. Morris Day did not write that song for one. Two The Time was a side project band Prince put together under his alter ego Jamie Starr. Prince removed Alexander Oneal from being the lead and put Morris Day there. Get your facts right before you speak. People talk crap and dont know what they are even talking about lolz
@1AshtonMartin i think so 2. it sound like it belongs 2 them. and Jerome, yo that was cold sitting up there with Morris and Terry talkin ish bout that man when he gave u a job after Morris went AWOL.
@PixilatedDoctor & dont 4get morris day wrote & produced the song party up 4 prince.but morris always had better stage performance & always been way cooler & more entertaining then prince.with out morris day the movie purple rain would of sucked & jimmy jam & terry lewis became more successfull then prince & wrote/ produced more hits then price.
@iamsukafree morris always had a better stage performance than prince?? LOL Morris played SAFE and prince was edgy genius taking risks and hes way more versatile than morris. morris is great for 4 songs but after that u dont see anything new or surprising. prince made the time. he told them HOW TO MOVE ONSTAGE, WHAT TO DO, WHAT TO PLAY AND WHAT TO WEAR.
@ijcn0jir3nvjn3fjcifn you really do enjoy tossing prince salad don't you? HE ADMITTED HIMSELF THAT MORRIS AND THE TIME HAD A BETTER STAGE SHOW AND KICKED HIS ASS. HE GOT SICK OF IT, WATCHED THE "VICTORY TOUR" AND BECAME A TAD BETTER AFTER ALL THE PURPLE RAIN SHOWS. These are not claims. These statements are directly from prince and visual production squad members during that time period. oh yea I'm tired of your trailing me, trolling your nightmarish claims. I hope that you like your medicine.
@ijcn0jir3nvjn3fjcifn Really?? Anyone online can visit to other MULTIPLE VIDEOS THAT I ALREADY NAMED YOU THE STALKER (IN THOSE EXACT TERMS) WHICH YOU ARE. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THAT YOU REPEATED SOMETHING I'VE TYPED. You're as false as prince is. Follows my traffic, but when I comment at a video>>I'm a "stalker". ROFL. I already called you that after you FOLLOWED ME WITH YOUR PRINCE NONSENSE. TRY THE FUCK AGAIN FAG. Judging my above comments, you're stupid AS HELL even writing that dumbass...
@ijcn0jir3nvjn3fjcifn hey everybody, this 'third world' sub nature lifeless shadow ijcn0jir3nvjn3fjcifn believes itself has rightful proof that MJ is a child molester and criminal. They actually THINK THIS (not a surprise, is prince fanatical). lets all laugh at em lol,, anyone plus prince fans can see through you.
@PixilatedDoctor Buy the Original 7ven new album and DVd Condensation and you can get the real about Fag-Boy... I mean Prince and his bitchassness. Short M.F.
@blackhand307 Correct..this is just a high school rock band persona that they always had with eachother...i heard they never even really had any Real beefs..and it was just for fun..so people would stay outta Princes top secret life. They always made fun of eachother and always always had a funny ass rivalry but everyone knows Prince is the fuckin Man...Morris day and dem are just the 2nd String to the fucking man which isnt bad either.
@terrel...I got to ask, why do people get mad at the truth? Prince is short... Big deal.. Prince did freaky stuff... This true! The fact he did all this stuff doesn't him any less talent??? It also made a super star and the other ones not... But I tell Morris is a bad ass boy. Take him out of purple rain. And tell would the movie of hit? Would prince be a super star???
@terrell..Prince and Morris are Biological cousins. They didn't want to come off like the Osmons Family. Do some research and you'll find this to be true. This isn't being said because it can be seen they have very mix heritage. Morris born in the house or better said "family"
FUCK MORRIS DAY OLD ASS AND THE FAGGDY ASS TIME, PRINCE IS THE SHIT AND ALWAYS WILL BE.... 2 ME HE UP THERE WITH MICHEAL JACKSON AND HE CAN'T BE TOUCHED SO GO A HEAD AND CALL HIM WHAT U WILL. YA PUNK ASS MOTHERFUCKER YO ASS SHOULD BE BOWING AT HIS MOTHERFUCKING FEET YOU PUSSIES.... THIS IS FOR MORRIS DAY AND THE TIME. NOBODY NEVER LIKED UR LAME ASS ANYWAYS.... U WAS A WANNA BE.
@ooberstank0071 prince is just as old as morris day.& stop being so sensitive.they was just jokeing.thats what friends do.joke on each other from time 2 time..prince & these guys got luv 4 each other.
@ooberstank0071 fuck you bitch, prince was scared of the time so he never gave them a shot, Morris was more fly then prince and jesse was a better guitarist than prince also
back off !! you should be saying "thank you Prince !! " I have an idea- forget the bodyguards,, pick up an instrument and BATTLE !! Please- you cant reach his high heel shoes to polish them !!
@donaldleejr I hear ya...but Jesse Johnson is a better guitarist than Prince. Prince even admits it. They are all old friends who are simply making jokes. Anyone that actually gets angry about this doesn't know the history of these guys.
@PAPAROBBIE what??? prince did not admit anything. steve vai is a better guitar player than hendrix? yes...and NO. dude, art and music is a way more complex thing that playing notes
@PAPAROBBIE Very true bro, these guy's wereen't being serious they were just clowning around ribbing on Prince its what they always did to eachother. Morris was joking around and so was Jerome and Jam! Notice Terry Lewis or Jessie Johnson didn't say a word.
First of all Jesse is a great guitarist yes but not even close to Prince. Lets see a video or article where prince stated that as a fact without just being nice ;)
@PAPAROBBIE No way is Jesse a better guitarist than Prince. And Prince has never admitted that too, what he did say is that jesse is the only guitarist that he felt was a threat to him- which is a different thing completely.
Prince is one of the greatest guitarist of all time and can play any type of guitar while Jesse is just a great rock guitarist.
@quikman231 Hey, you know who else was "just" a great rock guitarist? Jimi Hendrix. Oddly enough, I've heard Jesse cover Hendrix twice and kill it both times. I don't think Prince would dare even try cover Hendrix. In fact, part of the reason Jesse got the gig in the first place was 'cause Prince denied being influenced by Hendrix at all and Jesse told him to stop lying (which cracked Prince up).
@PAPAROBBIE No way, Prince would NEVER admit that anyone is better than him. I'll never believe that. You got proof? An article or a link? He gives folks their props like Larry Graham and Santana but I never read or saw where he said that anyone was better than him. His ego is to big to say something like that. Hell he doesn't even really like for to many people to cover his songs. He said in an interview that a lot of his songs are covered without his permission and he doesn't like it.
@PAPAROBBIE. You're probably right, but I just have a hard time admitting to myself that anyone is better than Prince. Especially at this type of music. He's just is the standard that everyone is measured up to.
Uh...Apollonia and Prince NEVER dated. Not even "fake" dated. During that period Prince was messing with Wendy's sister (twin) Susannah. (co-lead of The Family)
Let her tell you herself - youtube video 5FEWFLvxDa0
Oh snap! So the bit on Dave Chappelle w/ Prince Ballin in his outfits was based oon truth. they say truth is stronger than fiction lol. But what is strange is the Appolonia completely denounced Prince in People magazine in the last 4 or 5 years saying he was difficult to work with, wouldn't not allow cast and crew to eat until he was hungry and most of all their "relationship" was staged to promote the movie and that she in fact was happily married!?!
@LBurner1 I remember in People magazine Appollonia said that Prince only ate candy and drank tea and everyone else around him had to also and dress like him too. I think Apples is bitter that her career went to a screeching halt after Purple Rain. She said that she never felt like a member of the Prince family. She was really just a stand in for Vanity. Appollonia said that Prince would wear *women's* Armani suits.
Prince once said in a Rolling Stone interview that the only band that ever scared him was the Time. How sincere he was I'm not sure, but that was a quote from Morris Days cousin.
@Msumner316 This is the truth. In a recent drummer magazine Prince said he wanted to play like MORRIS DAY so bad he tried to recruit him for his band. Instead he signed them. And bios of Prince report how Prince would jealously taunt The Time while their first tour, throwing food & both would play pranks on each other. Artistic competition.

Too bad they don't really have the talent to hold their own, so they have to put down the one person who helped them even get into the limelight to feel better about themselves.

@DrClaw77 I loved the Family in 1985 or was it 86 Ha! Ha! Ha! I used to rock them on my walkman during my freshman year in college. I'm old what can I say. You remember Tamara and the Seen?
jimboedwardlee 3 months ago

I died laughing when they brought up "the blouses".
You have to admit, a grown man playing basketball in high-heel boots and feminine-looking blouses is funny as all get-out.

@pickzkickz I feel ya but it's not exactly a "tiny radio show". WJLB is one of top radio stations in the country.
briandonald 5 months ago
@briandonald yeah u may be right but its still just a radio station a big downgrade from a Letterman or Leno tv show. Or massive tour. But love the Time saw them last year here with Keith Sweat. Like I said, they're all friends and tease about Prince like everybody else. Jam and Lewis are brilliant.
pickzkickz 5 months ago
Terry Lewis and Jimmy Jam got "Fired" for getting snowed in in Atlanta when they flew from Columbia, SC to Atlanta, GA to produce a session with the SOS band. They didn't make the show in Columbia and Prince had to stand backstage behind curtains and play their parts for the Time set. I was in College at USC that year! I remember it well. Spoke to some members of the time a few years later about that.
rootvox7 7 months ago
@rootvox7 You know your stuff and the fact that you brought up the SOS Band puts you in a special class. They were the first concert that I went to in my life in 1984. I always said that the death of the R&B and Funk bands in the late 1980's really hurt Black music. It still hasn't recovered even though the NEO-SOUL crew is doing a pretty good job.
jimboedwardlee 3 months ago

And of course she used to MC as well so she has an innate understanding of the the music and was raised on its golden era (87-94).

bolder2009 3 months ago
@jimboedwardlee There is an irony about the role of so called 'gangster rap'. Dre's production was undeniable. Till this day the production on albums that Dre produced such as Straight Out Of Compton (1989), No One Can Do It Better (1989), The Chronic (1992), Doggy Style (1993), Murder Was The Case (1996) was undeniable. G-Funk introduced a new generation to George Clinton's funk legacy. Hip-Hop in its various forms came, saw and conquered. The rest, as they say, is history.
bolder2009 3 months ago
There is so much misinformation being spewed out as truth, I feel the need to set the record straight. It's true that Prince produced, wrote and played the instruments on The Time's 1st album. However, The Time came into their own with the outstanding musicianship of Jam, Lewis, Jesse, Jellybean and Monte on their 2nd & 4th albums. Jam & Lewis were fired prior to the 3rd album & Purple Rain movie for missing concerts while producing songs for the S.O.S. Band. They reunited for the 4th album.

I'm new to this whole The Time/Prince fallout. When did this happen?
donmegaTHEREDEEMED 8 months ago
@donmegaTHEREDEEMED There was never a real fallout. Prince just dogged the time alot make them perform backstage for vanity 6 and others and cancel their shows and tell not to play their hits like "the bird" and if they did they'd get into shit he fired terry lewis and jimmy jam for some bullshit. Essentially Prince was afraid of the time upstaging him so restrict them on what they could do and shit. Prince formed the time it was his band even though he wasn't in it he was managing it.

Pandemonium was an awful album NOT PRODUCED BY PRINCE after Jimmy and Terry rejoined. I could give 2 shits if Jimmy & Terry sold more
ThaNotoriousBEN 10 months ago
@ThaNotoriousBEN SO WHAT ARE YOUR TOP 2 PRINCE ALBUMS ?
7thvenom 10 months ago
@7thvenom That's hard for me to say because they are so different. If held to only two....they would be 1999 because it's was funky, and it rocked at the same time. I remember buying "Sign 'O The Times the day it was released and almost crashing my car when "Housequake" came on... it was the funkiest song I heard since "Knee Deep" by Funkadelic. "The Ballad of Dorothy Parker", "If I Was Your Girlfriend", "Adore", if released today would still sound modern.
ThaNotoriousBEN 10 months ago
@ThaNotoriousBEN my 2 would be "DIRTY MIND" & DAMN ............"1999"

@PAPAROBBIE No way is Jesse a better guitarist than Prince. And Prince has never admitted that too, what he did say is that jesse is the only guitarist that he felt was a threat to him- which is a different thing completely.
Prince is one of the greatest guitarist of all time and can play any type of guitar while Jesse is just a great rock guitarist.

@quikman231 Hey, you know who else was "just" a great rock guitarist? Jimi Hendrix. Oddly enough, I've heard Jesse cover Hendrix twice and kill it both times. In fact, part of the reason Jesse got the gig in the first place was 'cause Prince denied being influenced by Hendrix at all and Jesse told him to stop lying (which cracked Prince up).

willyjsimmons 1 year ago
LBurner1 1 year ago
@LBurner1 I remember in People magazine Appollonia said that Prince only ate candy and drank tea and everyone else around him had to also and dress like him too. I think Apples is bitter that her career went to a screeching halt after Purple Rain. She said that she never felt like a member of the Prince family. She was really just a stand in for Vanity. Appollonia said that Prince would wear *women's* Armani suits.
