we're all narcissists on the inside, we're taught to only display in public view a minimal amount of said narcissism, and a majority of a lie to counter it. Throughout our lives we're taught to believe that lie which we created. When you're a child, no one else in the world matters. You have little to no consideration of any other living soul, all that matters is you. As you grow older, you begin to care less about yourself and more about everyone else.

The mental abuse I had to go through when I was together with him was out of this world and it was also getting more and more physical, but I left him before it got too far. He also talked like that. I still remember how he always justified his actions towards others by saying that the society had wronged him so many times.

If you watch him being interviewed he will start acting crazy if he is not being understood and he will evade questions about what he did by saying unrelated things circling so the interviewer asks something else. If you watch his parole hearings you see very little of this behaviour and he acts very normal and talks clearly and understandable to the porole people.

Manson's charisma and confidence were huge indicators of narcissism, and being a criminal does not mean Manson didn't have narcissistic personality disorder. However, I do agree that he didn't have it. He reflects more antisocial personality disorder through his lack of remorse, deceit and impulsiveness (among other things).

If you watch him being interviewed he will start acting crazy if he is not being understood and he will evade questions about what he did by saying unrelated things circling so the interviewer asks something else. If you watch his parole hearings you see very little of this behaviour and he acts very normal and talks clearly and understandable to the porole people.

I wish people would stop throwing the term psychopath around willy nilly. It is used far too often to describe someone we would perceive as a 'psycho' or who is highly 'abnormal'.I would leave the diagnosing to psychologists or psychiatrists who actually know the exact diagnostic criteria according to the DSM-IV-TR, PCL-R or the ICD.Also psychopathy is almost always comorbid with other personality disorders so it is not just simply a case of someone being a psychopath,it is much more complex

Most of this crazy behaviour is nothing more than a performance for the camera. I have heard the renowned former FBI profiler Ressler speak about him and he illustrated how cunning and manipulative he is.
At 5'3" he has spent most of his life living in jail so he has found ways to survive and all of this "crazy stuff" seems to work for him.
He is not psychotic nor is he a psychopath. Just a truly manipulative narcissist.
The mans Iq is 124 so he is capable highly capable of such a performance.

I think that he became institutionalized at a pivotal point in the formation of his life, and it may be the case that he can no longer function appropriately in "wider society" and is better served by the structure that a prison provides i.e prison regiment stimulates him in a suitable way. That is an impression I felt after watching him some and listening to his words.

@thyroidman808 I wouldn't say that it's far from narcissistic personality disorder. Keep in mind that personality disorders have huge overlap and are difficult to diagnose. Manson's charisma and confidence were huge indicators of narcissism, and being a criminal does not mean Manson didn't have narcissistic personality disorder. However, I do agree that he didn't have it. He reflects more antisocial personality disorder through his lack of remorse, deceit and impulsiveness (among other things).
