Also, to anyone that care and like myself cannot order surger cans to where they live, I have been opening normal draught cans with a can opener, removing the widget, pouring at 45 degrees, and achieving a similar effect, its not as good as this video shows, but very close.
saw one of these in germany. tried putting a weizen (wheat beer) on there and 2/3's of my lovely weizen came rushing over the side of the glass and soaked the surger.
so basically, don't do it with more carbonated drinks, otherwise you get a fountain like i did.
@Neutrinoghost not any guiness has a low carbon level and a creamy taste, it also contains a "wicket" in the can or bottle to keep things together. its actually a science.
Guinness Draught is a totally different beer than what they used to make. Guinness Draught was created in the 1950's I believe. The Original Guinness is no longer made, but all the Extra Stout versions are the closest.
So, if you want to taste classic Guinness get yourself some Guinness extra stout. They use natural carbonation in all the extra stout versions.
wasn't talking about the ones served in pubs, you're not likely gonna bring your surger there I presume x) I'm talking about the nitro-cans, but overall I have nothing against Guinness no matter where I am, just that it has always tasted the best when I'm in Ireland ;)
im pretty sure all the guinness is imported from ireland?? I live in Canada, and thats what everbody says here, so it would be weird if they were making it here but not selling it here.
from my understanding, north america gets the bottom of the barrel guinness, nowhere as close to as good as what the UK gets. oh well, its still great.
I have a question.....If this stuff been around so long how in the hell did the carbonize it back in its early days? Im sure they didnt have nitrogen cylinders handy, did they just drink it without anything like that? Just asking cause im curious to know how it was originaly drank.
in export beer atleast the foam hat usually is quite none-existing or close to, haven't found a good guinness outside of Ireland tbh - but the ones you find in Ireland are really good ;) - anyhow, that thing there creates a foam hat through vibrations(i think?) and that foam hat is a big part of the experience :) w0nderful :D
when i was in spain on holdiday (i'm from the uk) they pour great guinness' in an irish pub i went called ryans bar. in ireland do some people make clover patterns on the frof?
people 1 lazy to take the time to pour it right guinness is different from other beers so it basicly agitates it so u get a good pint without the work
but the beer and the surger r more expencive get off ur ass its not hard to pour from a can u dump it in straight up the only time its hard not even hard is if your pouring from a keg or tap
My Father is a Bar Tender, Has been for many many years, He knows how to Pour a guinness Correctly, BUT, At his pub he has a surger, and he said that the Customers Obsolutly love watching the guinnes settle, and on top of that, the surger makes the beer taste like it was just poured from the factory its self! mmmm
@lowfinger "It vibrates the glass to release gas from the dink to make a creamy head." make sure you spell check next time as you spelt "DRINK" with out the "r" lol. it just reads bad. immature of me? maybe but still hilarious non the less
I have the actual bar surger!

Sad thing is... people are wasting their money on "toasters" and "dish washers". What ever happened to a respect for what really matters.
No one ever talks about "the perfect piece of toast".

i've heard that american guinness is made in canada, which is why it isn't the same as the irish one.

Me too, and I'm pretty sure it's imported. Hence the $6 tag.
FYI to nearly every other country... Canada is barely out of Prohibition so... pity us.

That being said... I will metaphorically buy you a drink if you do bring your surger to the pub, haha.

Master7770 2 years ago
Carbonation is caused by the fermentation.
madeformv7 2 years ago
If its already carbonated then why do they need the nitrogen gas?
Master7770 2 years ago
does it make it taste different? If not, just pour the pint the classic way.

It vibrates the glass to release gas from the dink to make a creamy head. In theory making a more authentic pint than normal from a can.
