  • Rain Forrest woods are easy to splits.

  • 9 out of 10 of the products on his website is severely over-priced... Must admit I almost facepalmed before I shook my head when I saw that the RM wilderness axe was almost double the price of the axe it's based on... Not trying to undermine Ray or Woodlore in any way, but there are equally good alternatives to be found elsewhere for a lower price. =)

  • Damn it people, where's your wedge?

    Where's your fro?

  • Well, I learned something useful today.

  • where is that place?

  • Clever.

    Who is this guy anyway?

  • This saw is amazing. I like to carry a small hatchet for firewood purposes, no good for thicker wood but that's where the saw comes in handy. Folds up nicely in my pack, makes light work of gathering wood. It's very sharp. You can also buy replacement blades for it but they tend to be hard to find without going direct to the Bahco Laplander people. Worth it though.

  • Holy crap... thats pretty wicked

  • if you look up all the gear he uses, you'll find it is some pricey stuff!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @J0Gu7 this saw is not that expensive...but everything else is tooo pricey

  • @drago2187 Much of the gear he uses is worth the high prices. I've cheaped out in the past and had to replace stuff that just can't take serious use. It's all about whether you want to pay up front or later. Frankly, I've found using top tier gear pays off long term, as it simply doesn't wear out or need replacement (or break while you're soaking wet and 10 miles from a road, in the pitch black...heh).

  • @J0Gu7 True, but its always good to get the best you can afford, you never know your life may depend on it someday.

  • @J0Gu7 for the quality its not

  • Brilliant!

  • i never use a saw because it takes more room more time and is difficult to sharpen

  • Ha, nice trick!

  • anyone got any pointers for doing this ? I've tried it many times and failed miserably.

  • @georgewhedge Actually the wood should be very dry. Also, try doing this with the cut facing sideways instead of upwards or downwards. I don't really care about this technique as I prefer to carry a both a folding saw and a lightweight hatchet :) Good luck!

  • @georgewhedge

If your name isnt Ray Mears it won't work. :)

  • Great Vid! I can't find one of those Laplander saws, I take my folding Gerber saw when in the woods. I need to try this for sure. Thanks.

  • you don't need to bother finding a laplander just buy kershaw folding saw it is much easier to find and it is same as laplander. kershaw folding saw is bacho laplander with kershaw name on it and it is made in sweden just like laplander. i own kershaw folding saw for a year. and i have no problem recommending it to other people as a first choice for first folding saw

  • Great, thanks!
